      Between 1988 and 1991, I bought 3 SL-HF1000 decks and still have one still functional, for capturing old Beta tapes!
      Between 1990 and about 1993, I used two of them together as my primary video editing system. It blew me away how frame-accurate it was without time code! Upon receiving my first one in 1988, to verify its frame accuracy, I created a simple animation of a pencil on my floor's carpet by recording a few seconds, then moving back to the first frame I wanted to start motion, then back one frame after that, and so-on, creating about a 5-second 1-frame-increment of motion, consistently accurately editing exactly to the frame intended!
      Likewise, when editing from my playback deck to the record deck, the source would cut in (assemble OR insert mode) exactly with the frame I set it to! I'd used professional 3/4" U-Matic decks at USC, where I maintained the Cinema School's equipment in the mid-late 1980s, which were controlled by timecode-referenced editing controller's, and THEY would often drift by 1 to 3 frames! While this consumer Beta deck combo was merely referenced by control track and was THAT accurate!
      I also used the setup for recording audio narrations in the HF audio mode to easily fix mistakes "on the fly", by listening to my well-done part leading up to the mistake in pre-roll, speaking along with it, so, when the edit hit just prior to the mistake, I had a well-flowing speaking cadence going! Playing back a finished 5 to 10-minute narration recording with 10, 12, 15 mistakes fixed, you can't tell it was edited live-to-tape and not recorded live continuously from start to finish! I can't even do THAT on a computer or typical digital audio recorder! Thank goodness I still have a functional SL-HF1000 to continue doing my narration recordings that way!

    Beautiful deck, I finally got one at a reasonable price, serviced and working excellent. My only complaint is for such a loaded remote, it doesn’t come with the ability to control the tracking adjustments.

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s awesome that you got a great deal. Since the tracking actually physically maybe changing the tape alignment, that could be why it’s not feasible to be on a remote and must be a hard switch on the deck itself.
