$48.10 out of the door. They just raised the price of Blanton’s $5 (now $74.95+tax). I wonder when they will do a price increase on ER, which will push it over $50 after taxes. That day will stink. BR was increased by $3 (now $32.95+tax) at the beginning of the year. NC ABC appears to realize that with such a demand for BT expressions, people will tolerate a price increase.
Based on videos like this I don’t blame stores for making allocated Bourbon like Weller a package where you have to buy something else. Stores have to carry so much inventory and people come in looking for the same 10-12 bottles.
Great hunt! It does help when you say the prices out loud especially on hunted bottles. There were several I couldn't see prices and was curious. Thanks!
I shoot in 4k. You might want to see if you can view it in higher quality.. Also, sometimes stores don't want me to show ths prices. I will try to call out more prices. Thanks for the feedback
Watching in 4k on my phone (as always). Examples here 17:44 but I get if you can't say prices out loud. Overlaying price in the video later is probably something you don't want to mess with but just understand that nobody hunts without looking at the price so it just takes away from the enjoyment a bit if there's a cool bottle but you don't know if it's MSRP steal or 10x secondary. Thanks again.
Hey Major I like that weller 12 but almost impossible to get in Louisiana, I did luck up this past weekend and picked EH Taylor $58 and Stagg $64..... Thanks really nice stores .....
23:04 That level of drop would have 50 people camping overnight in St. Louis. At least 15 of would have camped out TWO night in the freezing winter just to have a shot at Weller CYPB or Single Barrel. Well... at better prices. Those prices were pretty high on everything. You can find those bottles in Illinois for those prices pretty much every day of the week. The one exception is Blanton's. Blanton's is still $120+ in my area. It's everywhere for $120+ but finding it for $80 requires a raffle win or lucky find at a grocery store. I know because I've seen it happen 4 times in St. Louis. My market is STUPID. It's also full of bottle flippers so it's a nightmare.
Nice guy at the store with all the Weller. I just got 2 bottles of the Full Proof at 120. More than you like to pay but you are right, you just don’t see them often. The FP is my favorite of the lineup. But I haven’t had the single barrel.
What city/state is he located at? I was stoked last Thursday when I went into a small town store and scored CYPB for $54 out the door!!! I'm also in the same boat as you with not being about to try the Single Barrel yet. It's taking me less than a year to score the entire Weller line up minus SB.
The small shops near me are usually charging full secondary for all Weller (minus the SR) I do have one shop that I frequent which sells them for reasonable prices. $75 for A107, and $90 for W12. Just picked up both last week. Also got a WFP SiB from them last year for $100. If he ever gets CYPB it’s $300, and SiB is $500, so obviously have passed on those many times
Feels like things are finally picking up moving into allocation season. Around my home town I've found one 750 ml bottle of Buffalo Trace since 2023. Yesterday several of my locals had a full case + and one even had 3 handles. I finally was able to pick up my first ECBP ever with a B524 I found yesterday at MSRP. Cheers!
@@MajorXero Currently in Madison, WI. Unfortunately, in the land of Beer and Brandy Old Fashioneds, Madison is a Bourbon city through and through. So most of the time demand heavily exceeds supply and allocated bottles can be hard to get.

In Oregon good luck. You feel great if you pull a Special Reserve. The others come out 2-3 bottles at a time and tbh they just get passed to friends of the store owners. Not bitter, it just happens to be that hard. E.H. Taylor same thing. I traded in AR for an Antique 107 and I managed to get a Full Proof by dumb luck when I first started drinking whiskey. The others I don’t ever expect to buy unless it’s by sheer luck. The lack of getting Weller introduced me to Ben Holladay and Larceny Barrel Proof, and while I won’t compare I love those more findable whiskeys.
@@MajorXero In Oregon all stores are controlled but the State (OLCC). The State sends the bottles at its discretion and by law everything must be sold at MSRP. So called small stores here would be in rural areas one would have to drive 2-5 hours out of the way to go to. And at that point even if you’re hitting a desired bottle you basically bought it out from under someone local who couldn’t get it because they are at work. When we went on our cross country road trip we saw all the bottles and they were priced so far out of reality I gave up on that and went after local gems and handles we can’t get in Oregon (New Riff, Bardstown, Dark Arts, Green River). Don’t get me wrong, when I see a great BT bottle I’m interested, but if all you’re hunting are those here you’ll come up very thirsty.

I picked up a Weller 107 for MSRP in Ohio, and a Weller 12 Year for $99 in New York. I probably shouldn't have spent that much on the 12 year based on everyone's reviews.

@@MajorXero But then again, you also found a Weller 12 and a Blanton's just sitting int hat same store for fair prices. I'd take finding those for that price than having JD SBBP Rye for mine...
Here’s what I don’t get, back in the day there was Pappy by the case. Today you gotta hit a lottery or pay a lottery payout to acquire one. It’s inflation and scarcity that is 100% manufactured by Buffalo Trace and supported by peoples’ vanity. I don’t even waste the lottery chance in Oregon over other bottles. If I can try in a bar or tasting someday, absolutely. But I’ve yet to meet anyone outside of anonymous internet comments that say any Pappy handle is worth the secondary price.
@@MajorXero In Oregon you can’t negotiate price and it’s all released in a lottery, 3 bottles 3 times per year per expression. That means 27 bottles of Pappy handles for an entire state per year. It’s so rare that a couple years ago a few people lost their jobs on the OLCC board because they tried to game the system to get Pappy. There are no rules to the stores how they distribute handles that are allocated so on the highly desirable ones I’ve been told by multiple store owners they hold all but one in the back for good friends and family. And they send em to bars. Realistically there are probably less than 30 bottles per year of Weller 12, CYPB, Single Barrel, Blanton’s Gold, Stagg Jr and EH Taylor Single Barrel available per handle in the entire state that makes it in the hands of consumers. Of those they go to loyal customers who get the drop info. It is what it is and I’m not bitter at all. My only lament is not getting to try some of these. But the best thing it has done is create opportunity to discover great stuff outside of hyped bottles, and right now I believe we’re living in the golden age of bourbon as that manufactured scarcity has opened up room for other great distilleries.
@@MajorXero Out here we have an OLCC website where you can search for bottles, but as I said in a previous post even if it says the store has it that doesn’t mean it is available. Store employees and owners will often say it’s for a bar order. The only thing enjoyable about hunting in Oregon is if you happen to come across a bottle it will be at MSRP.
Hey man, I just wanted to appreciate that you didn't clear out the Weller 12 at that store that had them for 49.99. We've all seen TH-camrs do that when they finds a killer deal on an allocated bottle and it's just disappointing to see. Be kind to your fellow bourbon hunters. I understand buying a bottle to mule back to a friend but you don't need to clear the shelf of a newly dropped allocation. Let other customers find cool stuff too. None of us really need 3+ of the same bottle when we have hundreds of bottles in our collections. Personally, I have a 2 bottle limit on most bottles. If I see a crazy deal on something allocated I might buy a 3rd copy and ping people in my bourbon group to let them know they can have it at my cost if they want it. Usually they do so I rarely have more than my 2 bottle limit at home of any specific release. Right now I'm sitting on a third Weller 107 (but all 3 are picks) and a third Blanton's that I won in a raffle. Those two extra's will be given away as presents so It's a temporary problem.
@@MajorXero Oh I didn’t mean anything by it, was just giving you a hard time, I live in southern Ohio, I wish I could try a blantons or an eagle rare sometime to try. Need to try the cask strength of the pipe dream if you haven't already. Highly recommend 👌
@robertbailey6909 is it minty
@@MajorXero no it is not minty
@robertbailey6909 do ever get spearmint on somw ryes?
Memphis baby!
Started the video seeing JDSBBP Rye for $90. YIKES!
Too much or too low?
@@MajorXero Too much. I can get them for $60 around me.
@@MajorXero But then again, you also found a Weller 12 and a Blanton's just sitting int hat same store for fair prices. I'd take finding those for that price than having JD SBBP Rye for mine...
seems like a fair trade
Awesome video as always!
Thank you!
All the antique is in Ohio and every other weller looks to be in tennesee lol.
Well not then Single barrel
Love Weller 12
Really enjoyed itnwith pineapple
Thats Memphis!
Kind of BS to have a "Drop" and charge almost secondary prices on stuff... that would be disappointing to wait in line for
We have many different options in town
Not in Arkansas lol.Never available
Look at the small stores, you might be surprised
Memphis!
I agree about worth it for sure, but ai wouldn't turn one down at double msrp
I like that it is kinda like the wild west all over the place and you never know what you are going to get
@@MajorXero Out here we have an OLCC website where you can search for bottles, but as I said in a previous post even if it says the store has it that doesn’t mean it is available. Store employees and owners will often say it’s for a bar order. The only thing enjoyable about hunting in Oregon is if you happen to come across a bottle it will be at MSRP.
you have crazy taxes too, right?
To be fair if they had full proof or Single barrel at that price I may not have been so kind. Bit as a general rule.I am catch and release
🥃 Cheers from CT!
Yeah!
Hope you found some good ones this week. We got some good one dropped in ct recently
Did you get anything?
@@MajorXero I own a store here. We got some goodies
I bet you have all the good stuff!! What is the name of the store
Memphis
I was told to comment & I obey.
I live to serve
Our drop days are Tuesday. I’ll definitely be poking my head in. 107 is my unicorn.
for sure!!!
Arlington - 🙂
Texas😀?
Nice video!
Nice
It kills me when you call Irish whiskey scotch
They tend to be mixed together, I will try and do better. Thanks for the feedback
@@MajorXero Oh I didn’t mean anything by it, was just giving you a hard time, I live in southern Ohio, I wish I could try a blantons or an eagle rare sometime to try. I’ve only ever been able to try Weller special reserve and the regular buffalo trace.. I called up to the liquor stores in Colorado where my daughter lives at and they have all those allocated bottles almost everytime I call. I wish they would ship! lol guess you got to know someone who knows someone right? Great channel btw keep up the good work
@JediMasterGhost oh I didn't take offense, I am used to being terrible 😀
Anything
Or everything
Good video
Thank you
Memphis!!!
yeah!!!
*insert short comment to support*
Thanks brother
Or just come to Ohio. 😂 Weller SR is easy to find
Ha, I just need the Single Barrel.I do need ro get to the land of Weller
If the price was not secondary on those Weller bottles, they all would’ve came home with me I never see those in my area at all.
I got lucky with a few
I wish BT would stop giving these stores their products that are price gouging.
It is like rhe wild west here anything goes
Papas Pilar rum. Delicious
The clear or the dark
Every time you make the same cracks about Basil's or potstill, I end up parking your videos for a couple weeks. I don't much care for either of them, but it makes my repetitive video vice too repetitive :P
Some people just turn off the volume and listen to music. I get it. I don't care for my .own voice, either. Thanks for the feedback
@@MajorXero don't get me wrong - I'm here for the commentary. You've added some great energy there. It's just those two darn jokes. They get me every time. Ha. Keep up the great work!
@flipside21 thanks!
That one clerk has some serious life issues
I agree
Smaller stores 95% of the time price gouge
I find that sometimes they don't know what they have
The gross thing is getting old bro. We get it.
really I get more complaints when I don't so it, so darned if I do and darned if I don't
@@MajorXero but when the end of your video says be nice… just be nice or at least just say “I’m not a fan”
Can't be nice to Willet Potstill they hurt me
New sub! I think you may be close to me. Cheers and keep up the good work!
Thanks, but not in Cali like yku
You want GROSS, try Westward American Single malt cask strength. The finish is like you've eaten dirt and then licked an ashtray.
Whoa thanks for the warning
@@MajorXero Our bottle has had two pours out of it. I'd give it away, but can't think of someone I dislike that much.
@marknelson9615 hahahaha
Not sure what happened to your bottle but that's the best American single malt there is. Excellent whiskey. Every review you can find of it will back that up
Now I need tontry and find a pour
Weller is the most overrated bourbon there is.
I really like the full proof
