Disagree 100%. You want to watch reviews on Wild Turkey 101? The issue is you don't want to go find these bottles to own or try. I'm almost certain a bar near you can provide that experience.
@matthewmorin7016 100% of you can find a bottle of BTAC at a bar/restaurant. I'm not sure how helpful you expect TH-cam to be for ANY whiskey review. If you are interested in a whiskey enough to watch the review then go find it for yourself to try and hopefully enjoy.
What Wes said really resonated with me. I've had the pleasure of meeting a few "whiskeytubers" and they have all been gracious and somewhat starstruck that folks are happy to listen to them about whiskey. Most say they are just ordinary folk sharing their love. Keep up the good work fellas!
We’ve been big timed by a couple of larger channels. No big deal. We’re a little channel with 2k subs. We also own we are 100% amateurs and just having fun. Serious bourbon drinkers who go hard in the paint probably won’t be regular viewers for us. Nice video! You guys are one of the channels that inspired us to get started. Cheers!!!
I only started a channel to be able to connect with others in the community. I am definitely an amateur. I have realized my palate is different from most. I really don't see my channel going anywhere and I am just out here doing me and having fun doing it. Thank yall for all your great information.🥃
I love Fred, just seems like good people. A fellow vet and his deployment of the ascot I feel is in the same vain as yours. A nudge which is the same as a wink to a blindman.
Just like the Hate on Dickel Products, I bet most people have NEVER had any and just are jumping on the band wagon 🤔 They sell ALOT of Whiskey and are on the shelf everywhere for a fair price 👍😉
Your channel and SLB are definitely my go to. I believe that Kurt from SLB and I have a very similar pallet on the tasting notes so I trust his judgement alot.
I must admit, I did enjoy your "Pretentious Whiskey Taster" commercial. I never thought anything differently about Fred Minnick. Once, I left a question in his comment box, and he was kind enough to answer the question without any belittling or off color comment. Many of the other whiskey tubers are just as cool to just give you an honest opinion without any chastisement. This is yet another great show as always. If you woke up this morning wondering if anyone loved you, just know that we all love you! Cheers!
So there is a balance of entertainment and informative. I’m sure some put on a show for videos and that’s fine because it may be fun to watch. What I don’t like are the ones that seem just to flex and show off what unicorns they always acquire. I don’t care to hear about those because I’ll never pay the crazy prices for a bottle when i do see them and we all know they taste good. This channel and the Mash and Drum are my favorites as they are entertaining and informative.
Another great video! Waiting for my wife’s best friend to get back to enjoy our winning tasting from your channel! Love all that your team does to bring love to all of us. My wife didn’t know she loved whiskey until we started watching y’all! Happy New Year and know we love you!!!
Everyone's taste is their own, as are their opinions. Anyone who takes it for any more than that is looking for more than these channels can provide. They are just a guide. The only no-go should be whether anyone has been bought, i.e. paid or encouraged to provide reviews of particular brands.
We are not being paid to review whiskey. We has show sponsors, and when they are sponsoring it is obvious. My show sponsors have been brands I loved so I asked if they would sponsor the podcast (Still Austin reached out to me but I had already done a single barrel with them through my whiskey club). The truth is our reviews don't move markets. That is why my show has not had a sponsor in over a year. The money I charge just isn't worth it, because people do not buy simply because I tell them to...at least not enough to justify the show sponsorship fee.
Randy and Wes, very enjoyable podcast! Maybe I’m a little old fashioned but I was raised that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. So those that share hate on line, to an extend feel the same way about themselves!

Have a great New Years, and know you are appreciated!
Nice video and I think most whiskeytubers are authentic, just like you seem like someone we could hang out with. Deb and I have a small channel and we have a blast. We really enjoy engaging with and meeting our viewers. As far as larger channels go, don't make promises to the little channels that you can't keep. Be honest. I know we get busy but sometimes I feel like I'm being fed a line of bull. Anyways, keep up the great content and I hope all of your ventures in 2025 are successful and fulfilling!
Great video, I watch quite a few “whiskey tube” channels. For information, entertainment, or to hear what is said about certain bottles, for the interest in the subject and to be in the community, and I’m glad I found this one! Cheers!
I bought a bottle of your Rye about 8 months ago at a Total wine by me in Ft.Lauderdale and I was pleasantly surprised . It's a damn good Rye brother !

Then, in blinds, the opposite is usually true. That's my long-winded way of saying drink what you like and don't let people sway you differently.
I sang the praises of MM Cellar Aged. I do think there is a psychological bias against "premium" MM, but I am unaffected. If it is good it is good. I also have no problem telling people I don't like EC18, PVW20, PVW23, Saz18, and many other highly sought after bottles. If I don't like it...I just say so.

To me very important to have price ranges for videos. I watch the over $100 bottles blind tastings, even though I am much more about the $22 to $37 price range for my own buying.
Only thing about Brewzle in some of his videos the store owners will just bring out allocated stuff they have hiding in the back for him to buy just because of his channel...he gives them free advertising I guess, but it just irks me lol.
Kinda funny how you intentionally left out the known Fake Personalities intentionally, and stated that your believe everyone is who they claim to be...
Do you, yourself, know who the Fakes are? Whiskeytubers have lives outside of when they're filming. And when they're not filming sometimes they end up in social settings with whiskey hobbyists who are not tubers. And sometimes in those social settings the hobbyists see or hear things that show that the tuber is different "in real life" from what viewers of their channel would expect. Afterward, those hobbyists who observe this do talk to others in the community about what they've observed and word gets around. I've heard things through the community that lead me to believe that there are prominent tubers who are different in real life from what viewers would expect.
@@Best_Served_Neat_On_Ice Your premise seems unlikely to me. It is obvious that a person who is living a fake public life would keep up the lie when in social settings with hobbyists. It is way more likely that these people you are getting second hand reports from didn't catch an expert liars slipping, but are assuming negative intent and attributing meaning to things that were not intended. You will be better served in life if you are quick to believe positive information, and slow to accept negative information. Assume positive intent. Cheers.
Wine experts aren’t as expert as they think they are. This is proven with science. Same must be true about a drink that is 50%++ alcohol. You can’t taste so many flavors. That’s science.
TH-camrs all review the same bottles and say the same things, and then no one can find that bottle anymore. And if you can, because so many tubers have reviewed it, its more expensive
There are two reasons for that. First, if we review a no name whiskey people don't watch them. We are all trying to acquire the bottles that people are searching for so that people will watch. In that we there is natural overlap. Second, there are media companies that have us all on speed dial. When a smaller distillery starts an advertising campaign, we all get media bottles at about the same time. Other than the free bottles, none of us are getting paid for reviews that I know of.
@BourbonRealTalk so many comments here I want to 💯. We need to have an evening with some pours. Remind me of this episode and we can make an hour of it. Love your channel.
Tasting notes are highly subjective to the taster's experience. For instance when I was in my early 20s I dated a young woman who was a 2nd generation American from India. I ate *a lot* of Indian food for those 2.5 years and I cannot drink some whiskies like Wild Turkey without smelling and tasting Garam Masala. That's the dusty peanut shells and/or cumin spice and/or tacos that other people pick up on. Garam Masala is a slice mix of cumin, coriander, mustard, black pepper, hot red pepper, and clove, and sometimes paprika and tumeric. A lot of those spices are used in both American and Mexican cooking but when combined all together you get an Indian spice mix. Dishes that use Garam Masala often have peanuts in the recipe.
Great Video as always. Thanks for all the info and how everyone does have different tasting notes. It is so true we all taste different and life experience and even something as simple as what we had to eat before can change the taste. How long the bottle has been open and even your mood. So agree find someone with similar tasting notes and palate as you. As for whiskeytubers, I too have had great experiences. You being one of my first. I reached out to you to do Stagg Madness. You immediately said Stagg I am in! I was so new and just starting, I was wowed by how fast you responded and also agreed. I reached out to you because you are a fellow Texan and one of the first WhiskyTubers I started watching. Plus I do love your message. So thank you again for being kind and doing that fun set of videos. Cheers and happy holidays
We got plenty in AZ! Been slowly growing my TPG backups lol i got a whole case of the 8yr Rye and its my absolute favorite. I see alot of the 6yr bourbon and rye as well!
@bourbonrealtalk Thank you for the inspiration to start our own Channel. We have been watching you for years, you have helped me to learn so much! I am honored to have a great Mentors such as Randy and Wes! They are extremely entertaining and the meaning behind BRTC is such a Positive environment! Thank You for all you do!
i've been blessed to have had a few interactions with Randy and the man's as earnest as earnest gets. The kindness is real. As for cilantro... I never understood the hate until HEB came out with a Pico flavored torilla chip... and the person in the lab certainly had the "soap gene" cuz those things were awful.... I joked at the time that I was going to go blind from 'soap poisoning'. They were so bad that I actually took them back to the store and stood in line for the refund and wrote to corporate about them. So yeah, I now understand the reaction from the haters.... but thankfully Cilantro still tastes like God's best herb to me.
Love the honesty on standard releases, but it’s questionable when channels doing barrel picks start tending to favor their picks and crafty distilleries as if everything is fantastic. I get it that the picks need to be sold, but every pick isn’t great and sometimes it just feels like channels are just peddling overpriced whiskey.
I understand why you feel this way, but there are a couple of things you should consider. Whiskey channels that do picks likely are not making any money off the single barrels they do. I know I don't, at least not directly. I got a show sponsorship from JT Meleck, but that was not tied directly to the pick. All of the others I can think of there was zero financial benefit directly or indirectly. I just liked the whiskey and wanted to do something cool for the viewers. There isn't such thing as a bad single barrel. There may be some that do not appeal to your palate as much because everyone's palate is different, but people who do single barrel selections so not get to decide which barrels they pick from. The distillery tastes all their barrels to check for maturity, but when they find a barrel that is exceptional, they pull it out of the list of barrels that are going in batches to showcase it as a single barrel. A distillery would be stupid to taste a barrel, see that it tastes bad, and then decide to put it in the single barrel program. If a barrel is subpar, they blend it into a large batch to hide the flaws, they do not offer it as a single barrel and damage the reputation of the brand. I think these two bits of information may add a little understanding so that you don't think people's motivations are not pure.
Whiskey TH-cam is over saturated now. It gets old when your feed is full of the same "Which "insert Buffalo Trace product" is best". It's all a cliché now.
Or the same haul videos driving around certain cities or states looking to see what they can find, and the content is just bland and only tied to that, nothing else there to keep me on the video
After reading about Minnick's influence on the smoke eye vs GTS I came to the conclusion he's full of it. I don't find any of his notes to be reliable.
Being full of it would mean he is making stuff up. His palate is different than yours and he is experiences different things than you. He isn't full of it, just a different palate. Fred would not make things up.
Thanks for the analysis! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Great advice! I read way more reviews than I watch, but that is exactly how I: a) found reviewers I could trust and b) actually improved my own palate (in combination with using my Bourbon Real Talk American Whiskey Aroma Kit)!🥃
Have you had any experience/crossover with Whiskey Tribe? I really enjoyed Rex and Daniel's videos before they had to part ways -- and sometimes I'll still tune in to see what shenanigans Rex and Briana are up to, but have no idea what their reputation or influence is?
Daniel and I speak occasionally. I have bet Briana in their gift shop, but she didn't know who I was. She was very nice. I have never met Rex, but I have only heard great things from mutual friends.
Nice video! I say subscribe and watch the ones you like and don’t watch or subscribe the ones that don’t fit your style. Some channels are low grade audio or smacking while tasting, or too silent while tasting, etc. I will also watch those channels later on and see if they have progressed. Some of my favorite channels if you go back 5 plus years their content and production was not good and now their videos are great! No judging here! Cheers!
Bourbon TH-camrs are full of shit!! We aren’t only because we say we are amateurs and just talk about what we think and compare it to professionals. We just have fun and video it. Give us a try you may like us!
I think most of us end up giving away more than we drink. That part may not be on video like my weekly giveaways are. For instance, I open up my house to the Someone Say Whiskey members a few times a year, and people drink what ever they want. Unless you are local, you would think I just keep it for myself.

Well I’ll be ….. I just got a hint of Bolivian Virgin Tears in the dram of Still Austin Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey Store Pick! 😂 Keep up the great work .
I like to hear everyone's opinions on Whiskey/Bourbon if I agree or not, I've been sipping on bourbon for over 50yrs and never left a bottle on the shelf because of a review, good or bad. I like just about everything but not a real fan of finished juice but I am coming around. On a side note I just picked up a 6 yr Limosin Rye cask strength and it's Very Tasty 👍😉 Cheers 🥃💯
I am trying hard to make sense of this comment. Best I can come up with is you were trying to say you do not like Holladay whiskey, and that since many of the you tube channels have said they do like whiskey, you think everyone who says they like Holladay is full of shit? Is that accurate?
That is a commonly held belief, but it isn't true. We do not shift consumer preference enough to even attract serious sponsorship fees. The opposite is true. We do reviews of the whiskey that is getting popular on its own so that people will watch. When we do videos of unknown brands not only does it not shift buyer demand, but it tanks our views because no one watches them.
Agreed. Especially when you consider the fact that I can't even "influence" enough to grow my own brand of whiskey, let alone generally influence the market.
@@BourbonRealTalk just giving you a hard time bro. Good content. I worked under a master som who got all worked up when people pronounced it that way(as they do with practically any little things dealing with wine). That's the line she would regularly say. Honestly made me internally chuckle every time.
There are a few in every local whiskey club. They gatekeep and make fun of new people to the hobby. They are threatened by anyone but them getting attention, so they are very critical of people with a content platform.
@@thomascrompton7775 Well then, be prepared to make comments that seem ridiculous to the people who actually consumed the content you skipped, yet are still trying to tell people what to think about it.
19:25 I suspect that Mr. Minnick would laugh at *Pretentious Whisky Reviews* - he may be an Okie, and the style of his videos doesn't appeal to me, but everything I've heard about him tells me me he's an all right guy. 🙂
Here is the issue. All Whiskey Tubers start out pure and honest. Then you gain audience, gain money, and gain free things. It’s inevitable that you eventually lean a certain way. It’s similar to how politicians lean towards their lobbyist and supporters. Also with money and contacts you begin to get more expensive and hard to find bottles so its natural to lose the below $100 fans as you climb the ladder.
It may be true that over time channels gain access to harder to find bottles, but the idea that money is causing us to lean a certain way is just assuming negative intent. None of us make enough money to sustain our lifestyle without income from other businesses or jobs. Whiskey Tube does not pay like you would think, and it cost a lot more than you suspect.
Tired of you Tubers tasting and reviewing bourbon that most of us will never ever have a chance to own or try. Appreciate your honest reviews
Agree totally.
My number one complaint...you nailed it

@@thebigdubnetwork 100% disagree. A review of the BTAC line up that Sazerac gave a you tube channel is not helpful to 99.9% of people.

Interesting!
Of course brother! I was happy to be a part of it!

Thank you for the kind words and support!
i've been blessed to have had a few interactions with Randy and the man's as earnest as earnest gets.
Thank goodness for cilantro! 🤣
They wouldn't have picked it if they didn't favor it lol
I’m upset, you guys have never contacted us😢
Whiskey TH-cam is over saturated now.

Always always all wine finished bourbon tasted like matches to me. I thought I was crazy. Makes sense now.

Great advice! I read way more reviews than I watch, but that is exactly how I: a) found reviewers I could trust and b) actually improved my own palate (in combination with using my Bourbon Real Talk American Whiskey Aroma Kit)!🥃
Thank you for the support!
@ Always!
Funny, I mentioned the highway before Randy broke it out!😂
Have you had any experience/crossover with Whiskey Tribe?
Cheers!
I’ve got three different Prideful Goat bottles and they are great!
I didn't know the rum finished rye was a one time bottle. I hate I finished it all now
You can get access to what is left of it here.

Love the content, keep it up! 🥃
short answer: yes Love how you stick it to Ben Karen...lol
Fred knows how pretentious his Ascot can make him look. And does it anyway. We love him in spite of it Not because of it. ❤😂
As usual great content
Great video I agree with you 100% about aligning with somebody that has the same pallet as you cheers keep up the great work 🥃🥃🥃
Bourbon TH-camrs are full of shit!!
We aren’t only because we say we are amateurs and just talk about what we think and compare it to professionals.
We just have fun and video it. Give us a try you may like us!
awesome video
i cant stand the whiskytubers who go around buying tons of booze they will never finish, just seems like thirst content farming.
I think most of us end up giving away more than we drink. That part may not be on video like my weekly giveaways are. For instance, I open up my house to the Someone Say Whiskey members a few times a year, and people drink what ever they want. Unless you are local, you would think I just keep it for myself.
It's the 12-year Rye available for sale ,if so , by whom
You can order online.

4:10 what genes does Trenton SLB have 😂😂
mutated for sure
🤣
The really obscure and specific nosing and tasting notes are 100% bullshit and come off as pretentious.
Well I’ll be ….. I just got a hint of Bolivian Virgin Tears in the dram of Still Austin Single Barrel Cask Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey Store Pick! 😂
Keep up the great work .
Yes.
FYI….giveaway shows THIS IS CLOSED

I like to hear everyone's opinions on Whiskey/Bourbon if I agree or not, I've been sipping on bourbon for over 50yrs and never left a bottle on the shelf because of a review, good or bad. I like just about everything but not a real fan of finished juice but I am coming around. On a side note I just picked up a 6 yr Limosin Rye cask strength and it's Very Tasty 👍😉 Cheers 🥃💯
Bro wanted to tell us brewzel is an asshole without telling us he's an asshole.
I have interacted with the Brewzel channel very little, but all of it has been very positive.
Yes , Holaday is awful
I am trying hard to make sense of this comment. Best I can come up with is you were trying to say you do not like Holladay whiskey, and that since many of the you tube channels have said they do like whiskey, you think everyone who says they like Holladay is full of shit? Is that accurate?
Most are, because of them crap is so expensive
That is a commonly held belief, but it isn't true. We do not shift consumer preference enough to even attract serious sponsorship fees.
The opposite is true. We do reviews of the whiskey that is getting popular on its own so that people will watch. When we do videos of unknown brands not only does it not shift buyer demand, but it tanks our views because no one watches them.
"influencer" is so cringe
Agreed. Especially when you consider the fact that I can't even "influence" enough to grow my own brand of whiskey, let alone generally influence the market.
I'm called the cave man one umm good lol
I don't know what that means, but thanks for watching.
People from Somalia?
sommelier
@@BourbonRealTalk just giving you a hard time bro. Good content. I worked under a master som who got all worked up when people pronounced it that way(as they do with practically any little things dealing with wine). That's the line she would regularly say. Honestly made me internally chuckle every time.
Who are the elitist
There are a few in every local whiskey club. They gatekeep and make fun of new people to the hobby. They are threatened by anyone but them getting attention, so they are very critical of people with a content platform.
Every last one of you guys. But business is buisness.
Maybe check out the video and not comment without know what you are commenting on.
Don't have the attention span. I get lost in 1st minute.
@@thomascrompton7775 Well then, be prepared to make comments that seem ridiculous to the people who actually consumed the content you skipped, yet are still trying to tell people what to think about it.
😂
19:25 I suspect that Mr. Minnick would laugh at *Pretentious Whisky Reviews* - he may be an Okie, and the style of his videos doesn't appeal to me, but everything I've heard about him tells me me he's an all right guy. 🙂
Yes. And anyone who claims to pick out all these crazy tasting notes are as well. Because it all tastes like rocket fuel.
Find this offensive, won't watch this channel.ever again
Wow you changed to little girls gossiping about others. Disappointed.
Sorry to disappoint. Cheers!
If TH-camrs say Jack has a banana note I know they are full of complete shit
No, you don't. All you know is that *you* don't get that note, *and someone else does.*
😂😂😂 Yeah, OK. You can’t detect isoamyl acetate. Doesn’t mean others can’t either.
