  • Sydney is the most populace city in Australia yet it still harbors some excellent fishing opportunities. This time I make the best of some good spring weather and take the ids down to the Hacking river to enjoy the sand and water while I get into the mullet. The water was still cold but the fish were quite active once the water had been burleyed up sufficiently

    Thanks for sharing. I used to fish for these with the bro inlaw all the time in the Illawarra systems. Caught one 55 cms once. Used a single hook under a float simular to blackfishing.
    Gonna give these a go again after watching this.

    Hi Bashir,
    I tried mullet fishing in bobbinheads but after catching 2 mullets. I found they got very hard to catch? Any other ways that they can attract and eat the baits?

    • @bashirk
      @bashirk  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do wisen up after a bit especially in the day time. Try burleying up with some bits of bread then throw your bait in the burley

      Thanks for your concern Debbie. I've looked into the rules extensively and I dont regard this as separate hooks but a "gang of hooks" in which case I can have a maximum of "5 hooks per gang". My logic is that just as you can put one pilchard or a fillet of fish on a gang of five hooks, here as well I have the one bait (a slice of bread) on a gang of 4 to 5 hooks and just as the purpose of the ganged pilchard is to keep the bait natural and intact so the same with my slice of bread. You will only catch the one mullet just as you will only most likely catch the one fish with the pilchard.

      From the NSW Fisheries website: "A gang of hooks should have no more than 5 hooks" www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/fishing-rules-and-regs/perm-prohib-saltwater

      Hi mate,
      I'm new to fishing in NSW. I read guides for both type of fishing and found that it's allowed to use gangs only in saltwater. I always thought that rivers are attibuted to Freshwater system, so it's not allowed to use gangs in rivers. Maybe I'm wrong. Gould you please explain difference between Saltwater and Freshwater fishing?
      Thanks.

    • @bashirk
      @bashirk  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Konstantin. This is regarded as saltwater as it is actually saltwater. Its part of what's known as an estuary system.

      Hi Bashir, I watched your mullet fishing tutorial video. I try to catch mullet near sydney harbour but I can't get one. I tried bread, dough and saw that they don't touch on it. Could i know the branch of the white bread you usually use for fishing it? Cheers.
