  • Starlo joins TH-cam superstar Shroom to visit one of Sydney Harbour's most popular and productive land-based fishing structures: Clifton Gardens Wharf, on Chowder Bay in Mosman. In an action-packed morning, Steve learns plenty from the little master, and shares a few sneaky tricks of his own along the way. Watching this one will definitely make you a better and more successful "jetty rat"!

    Great Video Starlo! And good to see you're still at it!
    Unfortunately I've only just discovered your channel....
    I grew up watching yourself, Rex and Bushy on TV in the 90s, and can't help but feel some nostalgia seeing you on the screen again.
    I've always liked your knowledge sharing style of presentation (rather than the short lived entertainment style dominating TH-cam nowadays), and it's people like yourself who really helped me become a lifelong fisherman - especially back then when we didn't have the internet.
    And good job getting Clifton all to yourselves, I've been fishing that place a lot lately and it's always packed. The fishermen there always seem to be well behaved like you mentioned.

    Great video! I've fished Clifton since 2005 when it wasnt as well known or had such high fishing pressure as it is today... back then, the morning trevally (sizes up to 60cm) bite was a highlight... breams were also quite abundant when fished unweighted... the sandy area on the left facing the wharf has flatties fairly frequently... the stretch where you casted the swimbait is where cuttlefish and leatherjackets usually hang out...

    Hey mate, I wanted to start off by saying I really do enjoy your videos!
    Secondly, I noticed on your second bream your hookset was fairly slow compared to other fisherman I see on TH-cam. I was wondering if you have any tips on setting your hook successfully more often than not, as I seem to be really struggling to set the hook. I’m more of a carp fisherman so I’m used to the fish hooking themselves up. Any advice would be great! And keep up the good work mate!

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! Hooksets really vary (or should, I reckon) depending on how the fish takes the bait or lure. Slower takes seem better suited to slower hooksets and vice versa. Also, don’t forget I was using a natural bait on the jig head rather than a soft plastic. I’d have struck faster had it been an artificial. Hope that makes sense. 👍
