As a pro mullet angler theres no need for that many hooks and defo not trebles a carp hook works fine with a control float or free line
Thanks mate. I set up my float a bit different (not a knock, just to suit the spot and type of float I have laying around), but the treble and 3 luderick hooks works a treat. The treble holds the bread on so well.
I watched this and made an improvised version with a champagne cork and only one keeper hook as I didn't have the same as shown. 2nd cast 30cm mullet for a livey. It's surely the best mullet rig I've tried.

Yeah, definitely no need for the treble or all the other hooks, i find the best way to get mullet on bread is a 2 hook paternoster rig... Floats are good but i prefer no float as its more natural looking
do you put weight on your paternoster or weight less? TIA
Thanks for the video. In NSW we have a 3 hook per line limit so I think I will use one treble hook plus two keeper hooks just to be safe.
Do you slide the float stopper to different lengths or its always few inches for mullet?

How deep u fish for mullet?
Depends, if I see the cruise the surface than I got the hooks just under the surface. During winter I’d go a metre deep.

Sometimes I feel they are not there. Do you need to be patient or burley hard to turn them in?
Sometimes burley works but depending where your fishing you might have to wait for them. Best times were cloudy days with light rains in Summer.
Mullet in the UK seem to be the waryest of fish. Extremely hard to temp let alone catch.
Mullet everywhere else seem to throw themselves at the hook despite the cumbersome tackle.
If you use this rig they’ll hook themselves, much easier to catch them this way. Make sure you burley first to attract them close to where you’re fishing and you will get amongst them.
No, same in south of France. They are so super careful and shy, especially the big ones. Will try the rig next time I am on vaction there.

I used this rig today after watching this earlier this morning. Worked well but only got one mullet with the rest being small bream,squire and even a small blackfish.

tbh just a hook a small one really small
dough made with flour water add honey if it doent work or u want to dont have to it also catches brime my family went on holidays to a place in australia nsw called harigton or somthing like tht and there are mullet and gar fish on a jeti type thing we got around 10+ mullet and 5 gar 15 of each on a good day!

The way I catch Mullet will get you and anyone to catch them consistently. Great way to save money on bait and its so fun too.
