      @@sierrasiler i just got a polygel kit and used 91% rubbing alcohol and it worked, super cheap too!

      @FlufftonTail monomer is generally used with acrylics because it needs to mix with the acrylic powder. Polygel/hybrid gel does not require a monomer to cure, but it uses rubbing alcohol as a "slip" solution

    I’m a beginning nail tech and I was trying to figure out why my gel wasn’t touching side to side until you mentioned using a tip that was slightly bigger then your actual nail.. makes sense! And I found that it was way easier when using the clips. The nail come out way better lol clips are lifeee!

      Nakita Raulerson I did it and they make it seem easier than it is . Might be my lack of experience but they don’t show everything that can or goes wrong during the process .

    You make it look so easy. I use this and it takes me 2hrs to have decent looking nails... and even with all that time, some nails end up being thicker than others... Not to mention that you need to be careful with the liquid, because if the brush is too wet, the gel is not gonna work properly. 🤦🏽‍♀️

      thicker nails is actually better. The nails that she did actually looked TOO thin. You need that strength so that the tip just doesn't break off. A little bit of a thicker nail is better for structure and strength

      I started off with clear tips instead of just going for dual forms straight up
      It's better to have thicker nails as long as you build a good apex and you don't make it too thick around the cuticle

      Also don't flood the sidewalls with the polygel, in fact stay away from skin. Build on the apex and you will have a stronger nail.

    My issue is the gel oozing out the sides of the forms, I was using a matching form, fingers crossed I get a smooth edge using a larger one

    its crazy because i tried with the poly gel this morning and i could not get it. Word of advise do not take advice on doing nails from tiktok because they will mess you up.

    I definitely need to try this!! They turned out pretty good, and it looks relatively simple. And a whole lot cheaper than getting my nails done at the salon.

    Also a tip for anyone seeing this, don't touch the gel to your skin :) It can easily develop into an irreversible allergic reaction if you aren't careful.

    Love Polygel, I've only used Gelish. I tried the dual forms but it wasn't successful. Maybe I should try again.

      Yes, the natural nails are already prepped in this video. Just do a light buffing + a non-acid primer.

    I did this and spent 4 hours on applying + filing + decorating, and Two of them popped off not even a day later.. I buffed them and put on a primer, not sure how to make them
    Stick better

      Okay I know this comment is from like a year ago but I have some advice. If fake nails aren't sticking as well it usually means your nailbeds are oily. If you dehydrate them with acetone before you start the nails should stay much longer. 👍

      @@Haruchan1996 you would need to do both. so file ur nail beds and then apply acetone just with a q-tip to act as a dehydrator. best of luck with ur next set of nails!

    I'm guessing this would be good for fixing those high nail breaks we sometimes get. Or maybe not? Can anyone tell me please. Has anyone used this for breaks. Trying to find something to repair my often high breaks without having to use the teabag method. Thanks in advance

    I would love to try polygel, however I feel it won’t be strong enough. I don’t do heavy duty stuff nor do I recklessly forget I have fake nails on, but from the past experience of thin hard gel, I believe polygel just wouldn’t do.
    Have you tried polygel and what are your thoughts on my concerns?

      pinkpam it’s actually very durable. I’m rough with my hands and they stay on just as long as acrylics. Also depends on which brand you use. I filmed a vid using MODELONES poly gel if you’re interested th-cam.com/video/5eEuxC3p59I/w-d-xo.html 🙂

      Make sure your nails are properly prepped before applying. There are natural oils on your nails. Be sure to properly dehydrate the nail before application of the polygel

    I've always struggled with Dual Forms personally. I can never get the right nail size for my nails, and my own natural nail is too curved for the forms to adhere the gel properly. Any tips on how to avoid bubbles or any bare spots with Dual Forms? I have the Makartt dual forms if that helps

      Less slip gel, go to paper forms or tips n build nail. Takes practice but better for nails that are unique like ours

    I just did my first set and it came out pretty good. I love how you get enough time to play with the gel to make it perfect before curing. Hopeful they last long. I want to try French next

      Usually the poly gel kits come with a base and top gel so its most likely base gel

      Yes, you can, although I would not recommend, dipping powder creates an another layer on top of the poly gel nails so it will make it thicker now thicker means there will be more risks of falling if faster so to sum that up yes, if you want it for that moment and not want it to last more than 2~3 weeks, it works

      Mysummertouch- I like to prep my nails as I normally do when using gel, that is- file off any natural shine, shape, push back cuticles, brush or wash away dust, dehydrate, prime and a gel basecoat. 😀

    I did my poly gel nails. I made the nails one day, let it sit for the night and the next day I put them on, cured them and filed! Comes out much nicer!

      @Still Love I am guessing they might mean they did the gel portion on the forms and evened them out, so the next day, they could place them and do the rest of the work! Won't dry without curing, so I guess that works!

      You get a cotton and put on it nail polish remover and wrap in foil then let it sitt

    i just tried polygel nails for the first time and there were some growing pains... this vid helped explain a bit about why my methods werent working. BUT. They all pinged off like 2 mins later, even though i prepped my nails. Any tips?

      Without uv or led it wont dry right. You cant do gel nails without one. So you would need to see if a store near you sells them or buy one off amazon before starting

    Do you have to file your natural nails before applying?
    I have paper thin nails and can't wear acrylic nails because of it :(
    It makes me so sad because I love having cute nails and this looks like a good option :3

    I noticed in the advertisement for the polygel they do not say anything about using a UV lamp. Do you have to buy a lamp in order to do these nails?

    You forgot to mention that you have to add a base coat of gel polish onto the natural nail so that the poly gel can adhere in the first place.

      Yes kimberly you're correct & do not dip the whole brush in the slip solution smh u only need a little bit or the polygel will get cloudy.

      I believe polygel needs a higher wattage. Go for the 48 one!

    Poly gel is a brand name not the gel or product it self it is a hybrid gel.

    Help! Why does my dual form stick onto the polygel after curing? It always get stuck, and I have to use force or put a bit of acetone before it come off 😭

      Gently squeeze the sides of the dual form then gently nudge from the sides instead of jiggling it. It pops off easier and does less damage to the nail matrix! If that's not the case, maybe your gel is not curing fully??

    I use the poly gel all the time and yes there is prep involved however it's not like with acrylic prep nails as usual but bonder is not necessary

      Yes bonder is necessary! So the polygel lasts longer.
