I use polygel on my nails. One tip I find useful is to prevent the product from sticking to the spatula too much, put a small amount of slip solution on it before scraping it from the tube. Also, use a mirror under your hand to reflect the uv/led light. That way you don't have to cure over and under.

Tip on choosing a dual form size: Choose a form SLIGHTLY bigger than your nail bed to ensure that the entire nail bed is covered - that way your natural nail won't play peek a boo out of the sides ;)
*If you prefer a coffin or stiletto tip. you can file down and shape your dual forms before adding the polygel to cut down on filing time
Curing tip: Use a small mirror under your UV lamp to help cure the nail faster and more thoroughly
Slip solution hack - you can use NON ACETONE nail polish remover as a substitute to (70% or higher) alcohol

Wish I read this before I watched the entire first 5mins of filing.. lol
I grew my natural nails for 2 months and they got really long. I was really proud of myself because I had a habit of picking off my nails the second they got long. Yesterday, one broke right down to my nail bed. Because of this, I had to file down alllllll of my nails right down to my nail bed. One of my favourite features is now gone. I know it sounds stupid but I can’t explain how much I cried. My sister, who is blessed with nail art skills and pretty nails and hands, said she’s get me a poly gel kit and give me long nails again. I’m so excited 😆

Dude this literally happened to me 3 days prior. 1st time in my 20 year journey I let my nails grow for 1 and a half months and they were pretty long and I loved them so much, I don't know why but my nail tips gets so white which give the illusion of french tips and everyone adores this feature of mine. But my middle finger nail broke just like yours making me cut and file the rest of the nails, which made me order polygel kit which hopefully will give me back my nails
I never file all my nails down when one breaks
You can extented the broken nail with a fake nail like with polygel or using press on nails. Then wait till it grows out so you don't have it use it anymore while you still keep your other natural nails.

I'm currently waiting on my polygel starter kit to arrive and I can't wait! I've been watching every polygel tutorial/review that I can find in preparation lol. I watched a video on the Naio Nails channel about their polygel and the nail artist (Kirsty Meakin, nail goddess) gave a really good tutorial on how to size the dual forms. They're supposed to be a little bigger than your natural nail. Anyway, tfs! Can't wait to try this on my own nails!

@@cat4331 I watched a LOT of these kind of videos first and it was simple. The only issue I had was getting the underside of the nails smooth. I'm thinking about buying either some tips or nail forms to solve that problem for my next set. I've had them on for almost 2 weeks and they're still great! I did break one (totally my fault) and I just replaced it and it matched right up - only took me about 5 minutes tops to get the replacement nail on and done. I did a better job on that one too. I'd say that if you know how to paint your nails, you can do polygel. My friend saw them and she was so impressed that she ordered the same kit that day lol
I'm more mesmerised by her actual natural nails than the tutorial itself... 😯 😍
I use modelones. It's awesome especially for the price and you can get so many sets out of it. Mine usually last over two weeks. Sometimes I just put a layer over my natural nail and they look so real...so much better on the nail than acrylic

Hi, I can't get the base coat to cure. It remains sticky. I buffed my nail. I have a 120w lamp and I cured my nail 3 times at 90 seconds and it still remains tacky. Any help?
@@rachelceney9549 maybe it's thr dispersion layer? If so, it can be quickly removed with a few swipes of slip solution or rubbing alcohol

Tip: Don't put more than a pea size drop of the polygel, as the gel could come out of the sides.

You did such an amazing job filing to get that perfect shape! Those look awesome! Next time try using a bit less product. It will be so much easier to work with especially if you use a bit of iso alcohol too. It will also cut your filing time in half. Your natural nails are so beautiful! I'd kill for my nails to look like that naturally.
If I may ask, what would the alcohol be for?
@@NicoleUzo it’s basically like a slip solution:) it stops the gel from being sticky so u can work better :)
Great job , especially for a first time! Poly gel can be a great to use but it can have a learning curve, you hit it on the first try! I've used poly gel on my nails but not with Dual Forms, just as an over lay on my own nails, which is harder to do but it does file like butter. The downside is the stickiness, definitely!

Yes its really sticky, and i wasn't a big fan of that either but as soon as i got the hang of it I started feeling when it was about to get dry and sticky, so i just dipped my brush in a little liquid and it worked just fine after that. You should definitely try the dual forms sometime! Im thinking of trying it with gel, but im afraid that the gel is too runny... we'll see!
@@jessica_0117 I may be trying out my Dual Forms in the next couple of days. I'll be filing most all of my gel off, it's time for some fresh layers. I'd like to make my own nails a little longer although they are pretty long now, but I need more space to do some "Holiday nails".

I seen so many polygel nail tutorials before this one but it took til this one for me to really realize that good polygel nails are all about your filing game.
This kit is so good, perfect for some quarantine creativity. First time ever doing my nails this way, my ass was numb after 3 hours and it took some work with the filing buttttt (pun intended) worth it

I've been looking into reviews and the most bang for your buck for polygel starter kit I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order the biggest starter kit from the brand rossi... I mean I'm tempted to buy from aliexpress but who knows when it would get to me and if it would even be decent quality or not.. I calculated how much I spend on getting my nails done and it is ridiculous I pretty much do everything else myself my brows hair and everything so might aswell add nails to the mix start saving money! That's what techs use bc of the curvature of acrylic or nail extension... regular clippers will crack the nail bc they don't have a curve

It depends on the brand some are soak off meaning your going to have to soak them in acetone or file off
I want to get good at polygel so bad!! I have a serious problem with them lifting at the cuticle and creating bubbles while curing. HELP?! Please it's driving me crazy!

it’s probably because you chose a small dual form choose one that’s bigger trust me i had the same problem
If its lifting try a nail dehydrator and primer or you can buff the top of your nail so it's not shiny and the nails will stick
Clamp it while it sets
I had that Problem too. You have to use more Gel at the cuticle

I can already do really nice dip powder Manis with extensions, and I can do regular gel polish (not builder gel, just gel nail polish). Idk the dualforms are just so intimidating to me for some reason but I really want to learn
