Damn yeah sowing the seeds 1989! Remember it so well when it came out. Woman in chains too. Damn Jayzee has a lot of treats coming his way. Don’t forget the biggest that has recently been really popular Mad World. Yeah it’s their song too! 😉
Tears for Fears are basically those two guys. I'd go with "Sowing the Seeds of Love" next, which is a little more psychedelic and different but really excellent.
Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal are Tears For Fears. Sometimes joined by Oleta Adams, which is an interesting story in itself. Other members you see in the band are session or touring musicians. Curt and Roland had a falling out for some years but have since kissed and made up and are still touring and making music together.
"Are all their songs this catchy?" Why yes, yes they are. That's why you're getting suggestions for so many different songs of theirs. Virtually every one was a winner. My personal fav, Woman in Chains.
Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears was initially associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 1980s.
That's probably what people miss in todays music sometimes. The built up and catchiness of songs like that. Bands like Tears for Fears, Simple Minds Depeche Mode etc. mixed classic and percussion instruments with digital synthesizers. And finally they had great voices - no need of auto-tune. Up beat songs arranged like that can put you in a good mood. I don't dislike todays music but sometimes I miss the way how they produced songs those days - so different...Simple Minds - "Alive and Kicking" and "Don't you forget about me" are another great samples of that type of sound.
I 110% agree with your statement. In today’s pop (cuz yes shout is kind of pop sounding) they let aside the instrumental and atmosphere. These two elements are key however to keep your song timeless and memorable. Shout is a great exemple where the song take some break to let the « musical » parts to take the lead. And finally, the song build itself til the end for an epic finale (especially the long/album version)
well, kids worked hard they wanted to be in a band, made friends, formed bands, today, they just go on American's Got Talent or Star Search and someone else does all the work.

"Sowing the Seeds", "Mad World", and "Head Over Heels" are probably their biggest song besides what you've reacted to already. Might want to check out Paul Young's "Come Back and Stay", "Now I Know What Made Otis Blue", and "Love of the Common People".
🥰 Thank you THANK YOU!! 🥰 I grew up with this band and still love them today! (Yes, we have been waiting for a new album for a long time now, but I don't mind at all... Their classics are ALWAYS worth listening to again and again! Roland Orzabal is the main vocalist on the Songs from the Big Chair album, whereas if you listen to The Hurting, Curt Smith did al lot more vocals (he was the one singing Everybody Wants to Rule the World). You should definitely listen to all their works... they are similar and yet vastly different albums. The Hurting was very moody and a bit dark, SFtBC was a lot more poppy (had their biggest hits), Seeds of Love is very soulful (due to the addition of Oleta Adams, a gospel singer they discovered in Kansas City one evening). Then they broke up. The 90s, Roland released two other albums under the Tears for Fears name: Elemental and Raoul and the Kings of Spain (both very good albums!) Curt had a couple of solo projects that are good, but hard to track down. In 2001, Roland also released a solo album which is amazing... Tomcats Screaming Outside. 2004 they reunited and released Everybody Loves a Happy Ending, their last studio album... Although, they did release two new singles on their Greatest Hits in 2017 - I Love You, But I'm Lost and Stay. Thank you for this and the EWtRtW review and I hope you will listen to more! Yes, definitely check out Woman in Chains from The Seeds of Love... and my favorite from The Hurting, Pale Shelter. (Yes, Roland does get hit in the eye by a paper airplane in that video! 😳)
The surge of affordable drum machines and synths during the 80s, combined with the experimental creativity of the era, led to one of the best eras in music.

"Sowing the Seeds", "Mad World", and "Head Over Heels" are probably their biggest song besides what you've reacted to already.
Might want to check out Paul Young's "Come Back and Stay", "Now I Know What Made Otis Blue", and "Love of the Common People".
Dude, I've got to tell you that you're a pleasure to watch! You emanate happiness.
I love that, "haunted voices" that's a great description! Such unique, powerful voices and full of emotion!!
Dynamic Duo!!!! “Head over Heel’s”!!!! Love this ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
One of the BEST songs from the 80s, I was 8 when this came out...
ahead of their times!!! they don't make them like that anymore, 80's and 90' the best
Thanks Jaycee makes me realise how many bloody choices of great bands musicians we had back in the days
I know everyone has said it, but Head Over Heels is fantastic.
The surge of affordable drum machines and synths during the 80s, combined with the experimental creativity of the era, led to one of the best eras in music.
Head over Heels or Mad World...
Edit: this was a great song choice... Always loved it.
Prior to Tears for Fears, these 2 guys were in a band with 2 members from a group called Naked Eyes, so they already had chemistry.
The Album ‚”Songs From The Big Chair” is PHENOMENAL!! Haunting Track “Listen” (with Oleta Adams) is a GEM.
you make me miss the 80's, amazing music. I'm sure every generation feels the same about the music from their teenage years, but these guys were pure genius
Please review "woman In Chains", by Tears for Fears with Oleta Adams. Hauntingly gorgeous song with thought-provoking lyrics.
I love when he sings "these are the things I can do without", now a days, what are the things YOU can do/ live without? Can you imagine asking certain people, groups today that question? Yeah.....
Reaction request for Head Over Heels...another great tune by Tears for Fears
Yesss! I also requested!!
