News folks have been Rick rolled.. Rose bowl parade has been Rick rolled.. it was crazy about 10 years ago.. on everything. I like his older stuff.. about 5 years ago he did a new album.. I heard that the bartender in the clip had a bad hangover.. the one dancer was terrible and couldn't do the steps so they avoided her.. that he didn't like to dance.. but record agency decided it.. but he had more creative control in later songs and albums.. best voice!!!
Rick Astley at the award for best singer missed the award that year. But he lost to someone exceptional. The winner was Tracy Chapman with the song "fast car".
The versions of Together Forever and Never Gonna Give You Up from his recent album The Best of Me are even better versions of the originals. While the lyrics are still the same, you can tell he's a much more experienced and mature person.
1st time I heard this on the radio, I was convinced I knew what this singer was going to look like .... Wrong! His voice is gorgeous - bless him! So soulful :D as you say
I remember back in the day, ( am 45 ), when my mom heard this for the 1st time on the radio. She thought it was Billy Ocean, another great artist from the 80's, who was black. She brought this album & when she got it, she thought it was a mistake. And it was a record! 🤣🤣 Then, she played it! She couldn't believe he was a cute little Brit & white to boot! Rick Astley is the bomb, still is! Listen to his latest Gospel album. It's beautiful & his voice is even better with age! He is now 57, looks exactly the same & is just an all around GREAT GUY! 🥰
I love this song - I was 15 when this came out - when the music starts you just move to the beat. I still listen to this song - & I still move the same as Rick does in the video - you can't help yourself. the song is catchy & still is just as good to listen to as it was over 30+yrs ago

For me, hearing his music and voice was magical when I was growing up. I remember when I first heard his music. Almost wish I could go back to that moment.
Really? He doesn't really sound like a black man to me. And what did you mean by the soul bit? Many, most even, of today's best singers are white. Lewis Capaldi, Adele, Harry styles, Amy whitehouse are a few examples.
There should be a game show where contestants listen to a song before watching the video and then have to guess if the singer is black, white or otherwise. EVERYONE would get this one wrong.
@@ok-vr7by today's best singers Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi ? They can sing but they aren't the best singers. You could've picked better white singers like Sam Smith or Jessie J who are heavily influenced by Black American Music.

This song was made when most ppl listened to him on the radio
Most ppl thought he was black
I always thought that he looked too young to have that voice.
Same for Madonna. She sang before MTV was so huge. Rick’s hits were mid-80s so folks quickly saw his face in music videos.
I was a teenager working as a dj at a radio station when I first heard this song. My manager insisted we know who sang the new songs and watched their videos. My favorite job of all time.
the same thing i thought of Cristina Aguilera!! i thought she was like beyoncè or whitney and when a saw her i was like "damn!!!"
I didn't.
When I first heard him he sounded like a soul singer. He's from England and was one of their imports. He's still performing all over the world.
"Together Forever" is another great song of Rick Astley's.
The singer’s look doesn’t match his voice. Love this song.
Enjoyed your reaction, man!!! I'm one of Jamel AKA Jamal's Oldie Moldies ... In other words, I'm over 60, been a music lover (many genres) all my life, and Jamel says we need to "share the love, subscribe to my reaction family!" You got it, dude! Pleased to meet you!!! Love from the Mississippi Gulf Coast!!!
I love the reaction to those seeing and hearing Rick Astley for the first time. To see how shocked everyone is to see that man with a soulful voice. Priceless😊
I was one when I watch the video the first time, I couldn’t believe it. 😎
That's his voice. He was 21 and looked 16 when this was recorded.. LOL
WAIT HE WAS 21-
I THOUGHT HE WAS 15-
Looks 20. Sounds 40
Like I'm 13 sounds 40?
When I was a kid my mom asked me to describe how I pictured him looking. I said a big black dude. Little did I know it was a 20 year old skinny white dude
I think this is his voice but also there is an effect
Best reaction to Rick Astley's voice ever.
I love the look on your face!! "Is that really HIS voice?!" LOL😂
I laughed so loud I woke my neighbors
Rick Astley was the TEA BOY at Stock, Aitken, and Waterman, the music producers. lol. They heard him singing......The Tea boy....😂
They hear him sing before he was a tea boy. He became a tea boy because he was waiting for them to have him sing
Whilst waiting for the record he was making tea for them for a time. He wasn’t a tea boy
LOL, he has a great voice even though he looks like Archie. My favorite of his is "It Would Take a Strong Strong Man", worth a listen!
I can't believe this is your first listen. Lol. He's like Richie Cunninghm meets Barry White
@M. Smith number one loose women on ITV, permanently
ha perfect
@ April Garris EXACTLY. Well Stated.
I literally belly laughed when I read this comment. Thank you!😂
🤣🤣🤣 perfect match!
Oh my goodness! THANK YOU so much. I laughed so much when I saw your face after the first few notes of him singing. You had the same look all of us did back in the 80s when we first saw the video and where like, WHAT?!? Oh, thank you for keeping the tradition alive!
Yeah that's him, amazing vioce, the story is he was working as a tea boy in a recording studio, someone overheard him singing while working and signed him up, before that he'd never sung in public.
Someone hearing this song for the first time by intentionally listening to it? In 2020? I honestly didn't think this was possible. My man has *never fallen for a rickroll.*
I am shocked. I been rickrolled a few times over the years.... Remember the old "duckrolling?" that predates rickrolling?
The same thing for me... I had never been rickrolled and I intentionally listened to it in 2021...
@@someonesomewhereinthose7bi38 how?!
@@someonesomewhereinthose7bi38The same as me, we belog to that Extinct species😅
His voice is one of those voices that people will not forget. Very distinctive!
His voice is normal if your from Manchester England, there are plenty off amazing musical talent
and he sounds the same live too. Not all of the pop stars do !
@@joycegibbs5267 Rick Astley voice is unique
@@joycegibbs5267 right. I am so happy for him.
And he did not change looks-wise.
youve just been rick rolled my man :)...
Yes and that meme/prank have made him re-start up his music career.
@@Drescher1984 Question? Is it Rick Rolling if you do it to yourself Lol? because we all know his going to have this saved to his playlist lol
@@Drescher1984 Umm no?? lol This song came out in 1987 and was a hit back then. The meme only became a thing around 2007-8 shortly after TH-cam started.
@@TheBlackQueen oh hum yes, he told that in a interview. That he's son made him aware of this meme, so people started booking him. Plus I didn't say it was this year he started up again.
@@Drescher1984 You edited your comment. First, you said the meme started his music career.
Just another example of not judging a book by it's cover... Or a singer by their looks. I always enjoy your reactions. 💞🎶
Astley looks like he's 12 years old there!
He's got a real Anthony Michael Hall, the John Hughes years vibe.
He looks amazing now, too. As someone else who never looked my age in my youth, too, I am grateful in my later years.
Rick just did a video watching the the coaches on The Voice remaking another video. The reaction was priceless, btw.
but sounds like 40's
80’s and 90’s real voices real instruments. Thank you for reminding me of the music I loved and influenced my life. I’m also happy to see someone enjoying the hits of the era.
You have just been Rick Rolled.you,ll know what that with more views.
He did not rickroll himself. He had the intention to watch it so it's not a rickroll.
I can listen to Ricks songs everyday. Timeless for me 🥰
For ever Rick Rolled
Rick is classic 80s! "Whenever you need somebody" is a good one
You got that right! Ha ha ha ha ha rick assley!
Yeah love that one too.👌😎
You have been self rick-rolled :)
BTW, being rick-rolled is a long standing internet joke where someone posts a link claiming it addresses some topic, and it ends up being this video instead.
Oh haha thanks for the info
Yes! Ive been "Rick rolled twice 😂
He has a great voice! Together forever is another good one of his
What a great reaction to one of my favorite songs back in the 80s. Rick is a good guy and this song is still enjoyable all these years later.
Rick Astley at the award for best singer missed the award that year. But he lost to someone exceptional. The winner was Tracy Chapman with the song "fast car".
"Together Forever" should definitely be the next one. Was also a number one and is similar to Never Gonna Give You Up.
The versions of Together Forever and Never Gonna Give You Up from his recent album The Best of Me are even better versions of the originals. While the lyrics are still the same, you can tell he's a much more experienced and mature person.
Yay!!! Thank you for choosing Rick ! I told you that you would be surprised!!! 🤣🤣
You got Rickrocked man! Love it. He did Glastonbury festival this year. And he rocked it.
I loved the look on your face when he started singing, priceless.
1st time I heard this on the radio, I was convinced I knew what this singer was going to look like .... Wrong! His voice is gorgeous - bless him! So soulful :D as you say
Whenever I hear this song, I sing it for days.....thank you 😂
I remember back in the day, ( am 45 ), when my mom heard this for the 1st time on the radio. 🥰
Loved your face when he started singing . 🤣😂😅 The 80s was epic.
This is hilarious. You're reaction is priceless.
Welcome to the amazing world of Rick Astley. I wonder if Rick Astley is aware of you.
Love this.
Never seen anybody talked into Rick rolling themselves.
I don’t think a lot of people know what Rick rolling is these days.
@@ben9DB I admit I don't know what Rickrolled is. I was out dancing to this when it came out and always loved it. 💗💃
@@joyced277 well this is the Trevor Phillips version th-cam.com/video/dUs3Vm19QLo/w-d-xo.html

I love this song - I was 15 when this came out - when the music starts you just move to the beat. I still listen to this song - & I still move the same as Rick does in the video - you can't help yourself. the song is catchy & still is just as good to listen to as it was over 30+yrs ago
His voice is baritone and that's why he sounds so good my man......
Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode is also a gorgeous baritone!
@@bc9616 - many new wave artists were.
The Rick Rolling is real.
1:12 you can clearly see his souls are leaving his body when he heard Rick's voice...
Rick Astley is one of my FAVORITE singers. I could understand someone thinking he was a "brother". Anyway, he's a brother to all. He's full of soul, such an amazing voice. For me, hearing his music and voice was magical when I was growing up. I remember when I first heard his music. Almost wish I could go back to that moment.
Cracking reaction 😂💯
Twincoconuts!
Hii!
😂😂😂😂
Hey guys I love your vids!
Lol when a skinny white boy sounds like a big black man full of soul 😂
@@ok-vr7by your opinion. But my opinion is that by you most singers are white you may need to keep that to yourself
@@ok-vr7by today's best singers Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi ? They can sing but they aren't the best singers. You could've picked better white singers like Sam Smith or Jessie J who are heavily influenced by Black American Music.
@@Wordingsfries he definitely said that
This reaction just cracked me up. Your best one yet. I was laughing out loud from a minute in. That has always been the reaction to Rick's voice the first time anyone hear him sing, including the guy who signed him to a record deal.
