To answer your question on the holotype skull, it unfortunately was destroyed in the fire. For those curious on what it looked like, ResearchGate has some pictures of the skull if you search up "Cearadactylus Holotype Skull" on google images. It's a really fascinating skull as you're able to see its bizarre teeth and appears to be crestless, though I'm not sure if that's because the skull was not complete. Very unfortunate that it was destroyed. Also want to point out that the Irritator holotype was safe, but the undescribed postcranial was destroyed in addition to several other pterosaur specimens, including one of Tropeognathus which was the specimen that inspired the original WWD Ornithocheirus
This is most cursed episode on this channel. The running bet we gradually learn more about, James being in a different world, the shortness, and then the ending spin
the wheel landed on carnotaurus and i literally shouted alone in my room "OOOOH INTERESTING" and it changed to moros and im like "...what? why?...i mean its alright..."
My guess is that for whatever reason the Carnotaurus video isn't going to be ready in time but the one that comes next (Moros) would be, so they had to make this edit. Or maybe because James works on Tyrannosaurs he isn't for whatever reason available to record. I wish they had explained it in the video
This one I always had a soft spot for. It feels like an old-school pterodactyl and I *really* like this one black-and-green skin. It's a lot like Archaeornithomimus where it's objectively an ugly fella but I can help but embrace it because of how its colors make the creature pop
Michael Crichton had backwards views on a lot more than just Climate Change. He was also weird about race, like the Native Africans in State Of Fear or the Japanese in Rising Sun.
It's really weird to pronounce in its native language, since Greek 'dactylus' and Portuguese 'Ceará' don't gel quite well and you lose the stress on the last syllable of Ceará. It kinda just sounds like Seara, which is a real word (something like "cultivated field") and also a brand of meats, deli and frozen stuff.
The game model with that crest reminds me to ludodactylus, a species I would like to see in JWE3. Also pterosaurs would looks a lot better with pycnofibers, even adding some long quills in the head to differentiate similar species
I listen to the crew on my hour and a half commute, so I love the longer videos. Thought it was a joke when they said they were heading to species viewer, and I was only halfway through my commute. But I get it.
Like Also happy to announce that with this video I'm finally caught up on this series after watching all 93 episodes at x2 speed over the past month. I now cannot tolerate hearing them at normal speed. Bonus for the crew though is that at x2 speed you feel REALLY witty and knowledgably.
I actually kinda like Cearadactylus, it’s got some nice patterns that do emphasize the crest. It also works as a generic pteradactyloid for most any exhibit (being both Ornithocheiriform-like and vaguely Euctenochasmatian-like), I especially use it whenever I’m making a more “retro-dinosaur” type park, being both crested and toothed like Pteranodon in all the old monster movies.
Guys guys! Local Brazilian here✋ idk if anyone has mentioned it but the correct pronunciation of the name (if we’re going based on the state) is actually “see-ah-RAH-dactylus” so the exaggerated syllable is the “ra” after the “cea”
Cearadactylus was always a rather interesting choice for the Jurassic Park Novel. Since as you pointed out there's many Pterosaurs that even before the novel that seemed more likely picks. Even since then it mostly been overshadowed by other Pterosaurs and never really got any focus in other Jurassic Park or World Media. Just a brief bit in the Return to Jurassic Park comic and Jurassic World Evolution 2 being it's first ever game appearance. Though it does seem due to appear in the mobile game. Design wise I liked them for their smaller size but I kind of would prefer they didn't have the head crests and not a diamond growth on the beak. Basically, kind of make it a more "generic' one compared to the other Pterosaurs who tend to have their own crests and beaks. That being said fair point that there is odds for a crest given Ludoactylus. That being said damn now I kind of want Ludodactylus in either E3 or Rebirth since you pointed out that it does have all the pop toy features.
Interstengly, Callovosaurus in some versions is changed for Microceratus (Microceratops) and Hypsilophodon as Dryosaurus. And even Apatosaurus to Camarasaurus
A pterosaur I don't tend to make for my parks. Y'know, I am kinda surprised that Irritator isn't in this game. It seems like a dinosaur this game would have.
Just to clarify, Ceará is *necessarily not* pronounced 'keara': in Portuguese the C will only be a K sound in front of A, O and U. Ceará and for example cidade (city) are pronounced just as a S sound (cidade just like city, Ceará just like center). And the acute accent on the last A puts the stress of the word on that syllable, making it end with an 'ah' sound. (I will not go into the R as a voiced alveolar tap because then I would have go into voiced alveolar taps)
MAN, you guys are buried in the algorithm right now, i forgot what was the species this upcoming week and came back but its so stupid i had to go like 3/4 down the search page to get here after typing "The Skeleton Crew" cause of some Star Wars shit by the same name just now coming out what an ordeal lmfao
James complaining about that one pterosaur (I can't spell it's name, and I refuse to attempt to), calling it ugly and stupid looking, but he seems to forget that ALL pterosaurs are ugly and stupid looking. Even the most majestic one, Quetz (which is an objectively correct opinion) looks like a pelican on crack and a telephone pole had a baby. This has been my comment contribution, your welcome.
Alex JUST missed his bet mark. Ceara is very meh, a death by a thousand cuts. The head crest looks ugly and I don't like the wrinkly muppet skin it has. If it was on a better animation rig, I'd rank it a lot higher.
The curse of the +1 hour length ranking video is broken

WE HAD IRRITATOR'S BODY?! A GENTE TINHA O CORPO DO IRRITATOR?!
This is most cursed episode on this channel. The running bet we gradually learn more about, James being in a different world, the shortness, and then the ending spin
fr XD
Everyone always asks “Who are the patrons?” but never “How are the patrons?”
I’ll do you one better, WHY are the patrons?
It truly is forgotten when its Skeleton Crew episode is less than an hour long, xd
I LIKE Irritator and I’m happy it was mentioned😂

Hey guys! Did you now this creature appeared in the original novel? Hope you enjoyed the video, see you next week!
Uh... can someone explain what happened with the ending there? Why'd the wheel land on one option, then choose another winner instead?
My guess is that for whatever reason the Carnotaurus video isn't going to be ready in time but the one that comes next (Moros) would be, so they had to make this edit. @@kellynbotha I think Amelia has mentioned that carnosaurus is one of her favorites, so maybe she isn't available so they decided to delay it?
@@PreventtheToast that makes sense too
The wheel being so tiny is pretty wild to see, time really flies

This is the shortest episode since Crichtonsaurus
Coincidence?
Crazy a video less than an hour

Holy shit, more of this level of truth-telling 🤣

What’s going on? The wheel landed on Carnotaurus not Moros

it looks like the Pterodactyl ghost from that live action scooby doo film
Literally watched that last night!
Almost 10K!!!
Haven’t seen one this short in a while
I’m so excited to see Alex interact with the disgusting part of the internet. It’s going to be peak.
I've been binging these all November and I just want to thank you all for the entertaining and informative paleo content!
No multi hour video with multiple tangents, nonstop bits and infinite stunlocks? :(
Damn, that's a weird way of spelling moros intrepidus
I have never noticed that extra A in the name. I have been pronouncing it as cera-dactlyus as in horn finger😭
Horn finger kinda slaps though

Also even though it’s not on the list, Meganura is also in Jurassic Park.
What do you mean moros? It didn't land on that, give us carnotaurus cowards
These guys know one move: Tackle
funny how the plate of the japanese cast says that it has a crocodile like mouth like in the book

It’s nice to see a pterosaur from the original novel finally make it to the limelight in the franchise!
Daily reminder that it was feathered in the novel.
I remember being really excited when cearadactylus was originally confirmed for the game...until the design was revealed and my day was ruined.

Also got genuine whiplash from the brevity of this episode. How am I supposed to spend the extra hour of free time I now have?! XD
I would like to see what this does to the algorithm.
This unironically used to be one of my favorite pterosaurs in the game what’s wrong with me
I still unironically like it because it’s cool.

I guess James has one of the rare versions of Jurassic Park that has Callovosaurus in it, since it's Microceratops in most versions.

34:44 Wait, hold on. The Tapejarid lineage are considered pretty close to the Azhdarchid group.
Yep! Cearadactylus and other Anhanguerids are close relatives of pteranodontids.

I would probably use a lot more pterosaurs in my parks if any of them could stand each other
Having so many single species domes just takes space
That wasn’t meant as a reply, I misclicked

I’m confused. It landed on Carnotaurus but says Moros Intrepidus
it wasn't forgotten it was in the novel.
They mean it was in the novel, but has never appeared anywhere else, since it was replaced by Pteranodon in the films.
