Love your ideas and your scrap management tips. I would like to make a suggestion if I could. Rather than trash your "too-small" pieces, put them in an old pillow case and when full (not overfilled) sew the top together and donate it to an animal shelter for pet beds. The pillowcases can be put in a smaller garbage can as a "liner" so it's always open and ready to toss into. If the case is too long, making the bed too big for small cages, it can always be cut down before putting inside the can. Easy Peasy. Just a suggestion! Thanks for your videos!
First, I love your “teaching”, your voice is very calming. Second, I LOVE this pattern - and I thank you for your knowledge, your honesty with mistakes (too many don’t say they made a mistake - we’re all human) thank you!
Hi Megan, Thank you for sharing your method for putting this quilt together. I have never seen this method. Wow, what a timesaver! Seriously, thank you, I would never think of this 💗👏👍 Chris-Raleigh NC
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I don't know why I didn't get notifications for some of these comments! I'm so sorry--I try to reply more quickly than two weeks!!
You could use wavy lines to highlight the yellow and pink lines ( otherwise known as drunken sailor quilting). Then, something on the order of. 4 leaf clover in the background squares, or maybe a loopy line in a circle there. Fast and simple.😊
New subscriber from Montana! I make charity quilts from 5" squares and your design is a great way to make them pretty, even beautiful! And still fast and efficient. Thank you!
I love your ideas for scrap quilts. To me, me need somewhat "controlled" scrappy so they work for my style of scrappy really well. I'm going to gather some left overs from other projects that I had enough to make another quilt but not the same pattern and make some of yours.
Will keep this video to watch again. You make keeping organized look so easy! That is my problem. I still don’t quite understand the organization you used, but I look forward to trying it. A few years ago I made a quilt with over 1,000 half square triangles, and the organization was difficult for me to keep straight. This method would have helped. Thanks!
You popped up in my up next list this morning. I've been looking for something new to watch. I love this scrappy little quilt. I struggle with keeping things in the right orientation and this was very helpful.
You asked for suggestions on quilting this. Call me crazy but I think good old fashioned tacking with yarn would be nice on this quilt. Maybe different colors. I've not tacked one in forever but I think it would look great here!
Beautiful quilt! Love your style, the way you explain everything in a patient manner, and you are brilliant in my mind! I have found other plaid patterns however found them too cumbersome in cutting and joining the pieces. I am a new subscriber and so glad I found your channel. Thank for sharing your pattern and experiences.
Loved this video! Super cute quilt top! I’m not a fan of quilting quilts to death. They are not as soft and cuddly for me anyway. I would do a loopie pattern or some straight line quilting using seams as your guide. Thanks again💖
I'm so glad you liked it! I ended up doing a nice allover quilting design on it since the fabric and pattern was so busy! :) no sense in putting a bunch of time into quilting when you wouldn't really be able to see it anyway!
New Subscriber - I love your quilts and thanks for sharing your patterns. I found you because I was trying to find a bear paw pattern and was so impressed with that video that I became a subscriber.
Ooh I love it!!! Very fresh and modern. What about a meandering loopy quilt pattern varying the size of the loops. OR an ‘L’ the cursive version. That would be clean but loopy :)
The quilt looks great. Would just like to know why you pressed your seams open as other quilters press their seams to one side. I am a new quilter and would like your views on this. Desley
I tend to press my seams open to reduce bulk when I'm joining blocks together and having intersecting seams. It, like many things in quilting, is personal preference and what works best for you. You'll hear people always press to the dark/background/open. I'd say I press open 90% of the time but sometimes its not worth the hassle :)
New subscriber here. I really love what you do. Those colours! Desperately need to make this quilt! I love that tiny orange tool with which you cut apart the newly sewn blocks. Could you tell me where I can get one of those (online, perhaps, as I'm not from the US)? It looks soooo handy!
It’s called “The Original Thread Cutter by Sunflower Quilts” it’s about $10 on amazon here-hopefully you can find something similar for a good price-I know there’s another brand that does the same thing that’s purple. It’s super handy to have! Glad to have you here!
Thanks a lot! The purple thing isn't made anymore, it seems, but the orange indeed is. Not available on Amazon.de but I have friends in the US whom I'm going to ask for a huge favour. :-) BTW, just sewing your quilt as you go mug rugs, and they are a delight to make!
@@nicolebrunzel6608 I'm so glad you tried the mugs! I was just looking at mine the other day and I think its time for a new set :). they are so fast and satisfying. I actually just got a new different type of thread cutter and it is so great! I love that it is much cuter than the orange one and it uses up old rotary blades. Its from etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/700528867/bladesaver-thread-cutter?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=chain+piecing+cutter&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&bes=1&col=1
Love watching your videos,I have had some issues with my blades as a new one not sharp, do you have a brand you prefer,as you said 60mm,I do use 45 mm but not ever brand is sharp
I usually use the olfa blades--the ones that come in the yellow case. I do find they don't stay sharp for long but they just came out with the new endurance blade that is supposed to last longer. Once I'm out of my current set, Im going to give those a try!
The little orange thing? Its this little thread cutter gadget and its super handy! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6KGGKS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01N6KGGKS&linkCode=as2&tag=tinyorchardqu-20&linkId=4a55ca519e6fa6badc03c00a1bec34c0
I'm sure you have been told that cutting fabric under the ruler vs using the mats measurements is more accurate. Makes me cringe to see you cut incorrectly.
I encourage everyone to find what works best for them. I get more accurate results this way but if the ruler methods works for you, then stick with it! :)

I definitely make mistakes! lol! And thank you for the compliments and for watching :). I'm always trying to improve my videos!
Thank you thank you for detailing how to keep the process organized. Takes away a lot of anxiety!

This would be great in Christmas fabrics! Thank you.
That would be adorable!! ❤️

Thank you so much! Charity quilts are such a great way to use scraps! ❤️
Wow! What a great tutorial! Great job! I’ll be making on of these in shades of pink and purple. Thank you soooo much!

Thank you! I agree-I like to pick some kind of color/theme to help tie scrap quilts together.
That looks good! I think, I will do that pattern with my 2 1/2 " scraps
Greetings from Germany
Birgit
I just bought a full bag of scraps from Ebay, got some great colors. :)

Love this - so cute. The quilt turned out great and I loved all the tips. You did a great job!
Thanks Melissa!! ❤️
Subscribed. This quilt is so pleasing. Very nice presentation too. Thank you. Perth, Western Australia.
Thanks so much :)
I love this video, I do the same thing as you do when chain piecing. thanks for sharing
It makes everything go so much faster, doesn't it?!
Very cute quilt and I love the colors.
Thank you! It was a lot of fun to quilt!

Such a lovely quilt!!🧵❤️
Thanks Sandra! I’m excited to get it quilted and ready to snuggle!

Thanks!! And I love the loopy idea! I’ve used it in borders before but it would be so fun to do it on a bigger scale as an allover!
New subscriber from indonesia🙋😍
Welcome!!!
I use a weight at the end of my ruler so I don’t move it while I’m using long rulers
Having seen this elsewhere I've started doing it too, it really works well 😊🇦🇺
Genius!

Well organized sewing🌺
Thank you! Being organized certainly helps get through a lot of quilt blocks quickly!

Thanks a lot for thinking of me. The orange thingy is on its way to Germany already though. But I'll check out the other one anyway.
What kind of mat do you use for your table? :)

What size is it?
Mine came out to be about 67" square :)
