Long time Harley rider but secret Goldwing fan for many years. Finally took the plunge and bought a low mileage 08. Got a screaming deal. I have owned nearly 3 years now. I honestly love this bike. I still own an Electra Glide but my Harley friends can’t keep up with my Wing. Truth!
Bought a 08 wing in 2020 with 44 thou. Had a fatboy for ten years fun/cool, decided to get the wing so wife could be comfortable. Harleys are cool, but Goldwings rule :)
@@johncarney482 …. I get that! 100%. My son-in-law also is (was) a diehard Harley guy, but took the plunge and bought a really nice 2010 GoldWing trike about a month ago after having major back surgery due to stress fractures while in the USMC. That machine only has 10k miles on the clock. I helped him trailer it home from out of state. A short video is on my channel. Enjoy your wing and be safe brother!
The machines are really low maint , and you can get a great deal on a wing , as lots of older guys giving them up .. other than than PIA air filter , easy peasy
I own and love both my Harley and Goldwing. I've owned Utras in the past and think they are more comfortable but the price is double that of a comparable used Wing. When I travel alone, it's my Wide Glide. When the wife comes, it's the Wing.
I bought 2012 GL1800 with 103k on it. I owned it for 4.5 years now and logged in close to 50k with close to 151 k now! Not hard to log in these miles for me since it don’t snow much here in Texas as a daily ride. Never ever had any mechanical issues until few days ago with locking front brakes which could be caused by brake dust or in need of new caliper? I have to take it in at local shop! Do most of basic maintenance like oil changes and spark plugs but not air filter or brakes. I’m getting older in age but my bike keeps me feeling young. Your video is absolutely right about the bike. Thanks
I just bought in October 2023 a 2005 gl1800 in grey with 12k miles and complete with highway pegs, belly pan, rear passenger arm rest, JBL speakers with amp for $8,000 and have been extremely happy with it, amazing ride quality, has tons of power on tap and reliability like no other.
I don't consider 71K high mileage for a GW. Bought my 06 GW in 2021 with 103K and it now has 110K and going strong. I could have bought a lower mileage GW but feel letting them sit for years is not good either. Not a old man bike but rather a gentleman's crotch rocket.
Just upgraded from my '83 Oldwing with I don't know how many miles cause the odometer goes to 0 at 100,000. It's flipped more times than a Rino Republican. I'm now a 68 year old kid, riding a 20 year old. ... '04 1800. She does everything I like and nothing that I don't.
Love this, congratulations! I have a fondness for good-quality old-high-tech and these have always been a bit fascinating to me. Also love that there's enough lights that you can see into the souls of the drivers in front of you. Enjoy the miles!
I want a “Old Wing” now! I’m not a spring chicken either. I like what you said about having the extras being nice. My VTX 1800 has no extras but all the power!
I live in the UK and owned a GL1800 for 6 months. Unfortunately the traffic here is so bad and my commute so busy on city roads it proved impossible to filter enough to make it viable. So I sold it.
I was stopped at a local cafe and Mrs and I went and sat down, next to this old fella sharing the table. He noticed the bike gear and asked what I was riding. We got to talking and he comes over and has a look a the Boulevard. Hmmm V twin he goes. You should really look at getting a Goldwing he suggests. So I did. Got a 2004 for 12 grand Australian dollars that is with touring seat for the Mrs. And now I wonder why I didn’t run into that old fella years ago. Fantastic ride.
I’ve just purchased a 2003 GL1800A with only 10,565 kilometres on it. Mint showroom condition. Currently still in the dealership getting a brake flush and new tyres as part of the deal. As I will be 70 here next month. Just sold my BMW K1200LT felt to top heavy. I wasn’t even considering a Goldwing, I was just browsing the dealerships in town and stumbled upon it. It stole my heart instantly so much so I just couldn’t walk on bye. Pleased I didn’t hmm and ha as it turns out it got so much attention the salesman said he wished he had a showroom full of them. The number of people who was after it after I had secured it for myself, the salesman told me it had the interest of the last bottle of oxygen on mars. So now I wait for delivery. The colour is a metallic red and it just shines with lots of chrome extras.
Nice bike. I have an 02 in red with lots extras inc lights and angel eyes in the four speakers. I’m middly aged too and love riding it. Cruise in comfort…🇬🇧👍
😂 71k is nothing. I found a video in TH-cam with a guy name Steiner i think was his name…logging in several hundred thousands of miles like it’s walking in the park. I think his video is still available to watch in TH-cam.
Finding parts a problem? I was told by 2 Honda service departments that after 10 years parts dry up. Hard to believe but that’s what I was told. Have you had any problems?
The 5th and 6th Generation Goldwing bikes are not old man bikes. The previous iterations were absolutely horrendously ugly and weren't even good enough for an old man. The 5th and 6th generation bikes look absolutely nothing like the previous 1980's 4th generation and earlier models. It's good to point out that you're not comparing the same thing. The 5th generation Goldwing is a sport performance bike with handling and power, and a very, very beautiful front end, reminiscent of the 2002 ZX-12R Ninja. The modern Goldwings look more like an FJR-1300 or Ninja than an original "clunker" Goldwing.

300k plus with care easily

Switches on the Goldwing are a common problem. Spray them liberally with radio tuner cleaner and work them in and out. It works! Happy riding!
I use dry silicone

No, it hasn’t broken yet. But I guess we’ll see.
Need to ride also I get that man.
Give yourself a good 3 hours to get to that air filter your first time...
What about 123k? Is that too high of mileage to still buy?
Not if the price is right
@@tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480 $5795. 🤷. Not sure what those go for. Plus it's at a dealership, so marked up a bit I'm sure.
