- Someone Get This Guy a MAN CARD! 1500HP Stick Shift GTO that he DRIVES from Canada! Not only does Rich drive his stunning 1965 Pontiac GTO from his home in Alberta, Canada, he makes detours along the way to stop and meet up with friends and competitors! With 1600 miles on the clock BEFORE 1320Video’s Rocky Mountain Race Week had even begun, Rich had already proven his dedication to getting some seat time in on this new setup because anyone with 1,000HP+ behind a stick shift transmission can tell you that it’s definitely not a walk in the park! Which is why this video is SO. DANG. AWESOME. Since not only Rich and his GTO are running a high power + t56 6speed combo, but his buddy bill is as well in his twin turbo Ford Fairlane 500! These two BADASSES drove their race cars from Bill’s house in Colorado, and all through drag week and back! Both Bill and Rich not only proved that the stick shift sport is still very much alive and well, but that they are not scared whatsoever to turn a wrench on their cars at any point! Armed with only the parts they brought, their eccentric spirits, and the love of the sport, they both had a BLAST banging gears all over the midwest! These two cars were easily some of the weeks favorites!

The Pontiac turbo setup was brand new for this, still some bugs to work out. Chassis and boost control setup it will be as fast or faster than than my Fairlane!
Not a Ford guy but the Fairlane is a thing of beauty. The goat is yanking the front wheels when he bangs 2nd and 3rd gear and getting squirrelly at 1000’. That’s badass!
Mad props to guys who not only drag them, but drive them to the strip, with a trailer to boot!! A/C, of course, it's called an open vent window at 70 MPH.

Correct and 2 of my all time favorite cars had a couple fairlanes and a65 Canadian build Goat in my younger days. Now just a Fox with a 347na 653 in 8th.

Those Fairlane 500's are beautiful cars. I used to have a 1967 Ford Fairlane with a 390 what a car that was at the time. I also had at the same time, a 1964 Galaxie XL 500 with a 351 Cleveland engine, What a gas guzzler that motor was pass everything but a gas station, not LOL back then, lol
that was awesome. gto could put down consistent 9s with some suspension upgrades for sure.

The best drag racing story and video I have ever seen, and i have seen alot...Wow, awesome.
Rich needs no Man Card, nobody would ever require him to show one. Even before the turbo that is a pretty high strung car to drive 2500 miles to Bowling Green, Kentucky where I first saw him at Drag Week. 6000 mile round trip! Extra Man points for having a proper Pontiac engine and not some orange lump. I'm a Ford guy and love the Fairlane too.

If it wasn't for that lil ecm issue I'd say they should be pulling a lil ice trailer instead of tools. What a couple excellently setup cars.
I'd rather have a trailer so you don't need to unload the trunk at every track before every race. I used to haul a car full of parts, tires, racing brakes, etc. and unloading/loading over and over (even though I was only driving to one road racing track 300 miles away for the day/weekend) got old fast. A nicely set up trailer, ready to go, is much easier and keeps everything dry if it rains and there's less risk of things disappearing (not that that was a problem).

I'm really impressed with how smooth the shifting was. Not like the old days where each shift would bang the car and the front end would lift and jerk. .If you didn't know, you would of thought it was an auto transmission.

What’s the benefits of face plating? (Not being an ass, serious question)
Lightning fast shifts. Instead of synchros there are big giant teeth that crash into slots as fast as you can mash the shifter.
