Street legal? With a handbrake? An accident waiting too happen on the street. The basically good engineering to put it on the street but road cars have foot operated brakes on 4 corners.
God bless you guys! That 57 wagon was our family car way back. I and my brother took the family car for a test and found out that a stock 57 chev was only good for 111 mph before it started floating. If our parents found out they would have kicked our asses way back in 1971. love it😂
My first car was a 4-dr '57 210. I was thrilled to get it into the 13's back in the early 70's. Watching a street-driven wagon going 6's, brings a mile-wide smile. I'm loving it. Way to go, Guys!

His 57 has a steel back half, at that point it wouldnt qualify as a promod. a TRUE PROMOD 57 belair looks completely different than the Lutz 57. Facts. look up the Randy Adler 57 belair and youll see what a true promod looks like.

Did you get any video of the Norrlands Ascona 2.0 making a test pass? They didnt get into the competition due to delays in shipping, but I heard they set a time during testing, faster than any pass of the competitors of Drag Week
Check their instagram, its norrlandsasconan.I think they did a 6.66 pass one of the first passes they tried. Would for sure have given the top guys a run for their money. They shipped 2 cars at the sime time, but only one of them arrived in time from what I heard (the red corvette c4, brillko is the owners name)

No-one would insure it (hard enough to get reasonable modified car insured) and no way would it pass an MOT for emmisions and noise amongst many other things. The USA is so lax about these things, that's why they can do it.

Congrats on an awesome build! I remember seeing a '67 Ford wagon with the 427. It was in Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazine. Wonder how many remember buying that monthly?!! I can't remember if it had a 4 speed or C6, but it was coming off the line with the wheels in the air! This was NHRA S/S in the late 60's or early 70's. Loved seeing the wagons race since! Also remember seeing a huge Dodge or Plymouth wagon run at a local strip. On the sides of the car they painted a whale & called it The Whale! I think it had a hemi & auto in it, it was fast! ❤
It's amazing they're able to get that amount of horsepower to the pavement. If I had built this car, all it would do is Burn Rubber, then after I fix that, it would break all the transmission components, after I fix that - it would break the frame. And if I got her to go down the road - would probably be unstable and crack up

Did you even watch the video? it runs on pump gas using efi on the street and methanol with mechanical injection on track. The slicks and spares have to go in a trailer that it tows and contains everything for the duration of drag week. The car has to drive between different races on the street hence the need for a block with coolant in it. The questionable legal thing for me was no foot brake at all, just a handbrake funnycar style. Check redvictor1 street driven in the UK if you think you can't run radical drag race ready cars on the street outside the USA.

Motors alone for these cars are in the 150k range depending on options. Thats not counting clutch and tranny.

At one time it did when Cramden had the turbo LS in it a year earlier. It ran 7.26 @ 153mph at drag week. Then they changed to the funny car set up.
