I literally ran to the bus, put my horn up, changed and sprinted back to the stadium to watch tilt and felliniesque live at finals. It was insane to see in person
One classic hit from the pre-modern DCI days that I enjoy is the 2004 Madison Scouts closer. They play a loud hit, then reveal that half of them aren't even playing, then everyone else joins in for an even bigger hit.
I love star 91 and I just had my rookie year last season. What made me love it even more was our brass caption head marched it and just told us about the cross to cross and George zingali during open class finals during the rain delay
SCV '18 (Babylon) has been my favorite DCI show since the advent of more props and less marching. They use props (ramps/risers) but they never distract from the show, and the music that year, esp the ballad and closer, were amazing. Also loved their COVID year video in the park. Star '91 cross-to-cross...long live Zingali!
Fun fact: my old band director was on the star of indiana 1991 and he said the drill writer made the last two crosses completley from mind just before world

I feel like halftime shows are so underrated. If you’ve never been in band/colorguard/dance team you have no idea how hard it is to not only learn the entire choreography, little they teach you mark by mark “ok you’re here… you right here” and it takes forever, meanwhile the band is learning the music in class, dancers are learning the dance in class and color guard is learning their routine in class. But then when it comes time to put it all together it’s not easy! Playing an instrument/dancing/throwing a flag all while running around, lots of times doing so backwards, it’s a lot of work but it’s also a lot of fun. I miss those days!

Glad you included Star '93. Watching that show is insane because it feels like they tease that moment for like, 10 minutes. When it finally hits, it's literally perfect. Really wish Star was still around.
I'd argue that any one of the big Scouts shows from the 90s could be on this list. ('99, '94, '95, '96) and the one I was surprised not to see was Phantom '96.
Favorite part is the disclaimer in the beginning (in my opinion). Love it! So many comments are always so biased towards their age and wherever/whoever they played for. I was in a marching band in the last 1980’s, growing up minutes away from the Cadets in northern NJ and never got to see them play…but my father always told me about them…this video was a great compilation, thanks for putting it all together for us!
The end of Babylon is, far and away, my favorite closer ever. And I’ve been following this activity since 1975. And that beats 27th and Phantom and Garfield and all the others that had really amazing closers.
the camera work in the video of babylon makes me tear up everytime, the whole crowd is already on their feet before the massive hit. what an insane experience.
Thank you for putting this together, I enjoyed it very much. To all the complaining commenters just remember that in order to put someone in the top ten you have to pull someone out and all these shows were great, it would be hard for me to take one of them down to put in my favorite. I would like to see others top ten list and videos. If you make it I will watch
Loved this list, only thing I would change is putting Babylon as #2, because in my opinion Star 1991 is hands down the greatest horn line to ever have existed.
Star ‘91 is the real reason I joined the marching arts and ultimately a DCI member! That show holds a very special place in my heart! That show was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!
You're leaving out many great hornlines from the earlier years of the sport....Hawthorne Muchachos 75, Bayonne Bridgemen, Blue Devils, Madison Scouts and many others.....Study your history my friend....IMHO....
The turn in Phantom Regiment "Harmonic Journey" gets me =every time=. So simple, but bam, its just there as a mega crescendo. Also, the spinning thingy visual effect in Carolina Crown e=mc2.
I think I've mentioned this before, but the Cadets' 2000 "We are the Future" show has one of the best hits I have ever seen in DCI. Its around the end when they are all in a line. Also the best use of a half time march ive seen too.
After "My Body is A Cage", '88 Madison's park and play coming out of the percussion break in Malaguena is probably the best I've ever experienced. They burned Arrowhead stadium to the ground that night.

Have always enjoyed their shows. Every era fantastic shows from them.
SCV 2018 is the greatest show ever put on the field.
I've been watching DCI since 83 (band director's kid), and that show gets me as pumped as any other
Having seen most of those live, I must say Tilt and Babylon were 2 of the most enjoyable times I can remember in my 30+ years in the activity.
I literally ran to the bus, put my horn up, changed and sprinted back to the stadium to watch tilt and felliniesque live at finals. It was insane to see in person
Babylon is to this day the best show I’ve ever seen live. This coming from a Bluecoats diehard
"Tilt" was one of my absolute favorite programs ever. Too bad the Blue Devils took gold that year, the Bluecoats certainly had it together.
the blue devils had it wayy more together though. They murderered every other corps
ye bluecoats popped off with a banger show, bd just dominated that year with Felliniesque
Bd had it more together. Better show, cleaner show, better design
BD’s show was mid imo, but I’ve also never liked their shows. It was just piss clean across the board
