The low brass was a MACHINE this year. The sound quality was what won them the ott, my .02. Buttery smooth chords throughout the show that blended nearly perfect. Other groups had stronger and harder books but the sound quality and technique is what won. Congrats to the Bloo crew.
Their articulation is incredibly defined and consistent. Their intonation and ensemble tone is phenomenal. I am a very proud alumnus, they should be so proud of what they've done this season. It's not about winning; it's about being fucking great and putting an artistic package on the field.
Agreed... Not everyone wins, but if you lay it all out there giving 101+%.. you've got to be proud of what you've done. Personally, I think this year should have been a three-peat for Bluecoats, but I am a bit biased just because my son marched this and the two years prior. This year, they were so clean out of the gates, that there was little hope of anyone catching up to them. Scott & crew have done a phenomenal job of recruiting/developing the talent/attitude that portrays a Bluecoat. Hats off to them for these past and future years to come. Let's Go BLOO!
I love listening to this on full volume with my headphones. Its the closest thing I can get to real life. Sadly I wasnt able to see them live this year 😢
@@dci_fan0345 yup! Glad Blue Stars Brass is getting some of the recognition they deserve after being one of the most consistent hornlines even across staff changes within their scoring area! For the past 4 seasons Travis Larson and staff have been doing great things. Crazy to think it’s already been that long since my age out at Blue Stars was his first year.
I gotta say, putting the camera quality aside, THIS is the best type of audio recording that is amazing for brass lots! It's the type of sound that floods your ears and has bright full tones where you can hear dynamics and individual players, and if it is too loud it HURTS to listen to. All these other videos that claim to have "HD Audio" and "High Quality Audio" always have that same muffled, unclear, closed off sound in their videos and it just never hits the same. This video is one of the examples that makes you FEEL like you are there with the absolute impact of the brass and the way it can literally make a wall of sound that covers everything else! Maybe I'm overthinking it but these "poor camera quality" videos always have the BEST audio as the name implies lol
Just show up, they're all warming up within walking distance of the stadium. The tough part is that a) they are in the lots at least 2hrs before their performance time, b) all the groups overlap with each other so you kinda need to decide in advance who you wanna see, and c) they are usually pretty far apart from each other so you can't just simply bounce around on a whim
@@BluesClues2s wait so like is it early enough to not miss any performances or..? sorry for asking dumb questions i just want to see them in the lot and know nothing about it
@@soberbananaswhat he’s saying is one corp might be on the field in performance while another is in a warm up arc like this around the stadium so you have to be willing to miss some performances if you want to catch warm up. The ending is perhaps my favorite DCI ending ever and I wake up each day worried that they'll change it before finals. To open with the B-flat major chords, then end *each movement* with a B-flat major chord despite different keys, and then close out the entire thing with one, single, fully-resolved B-flat major chord, is perfect.
dymaxion is the hardest thing on the field this summer 💀 the listening environment throughout the entire show is insanely difficult. it's simultaneous demand, they're actually doing multiple things at once instead of sitting on their ass and playing sixteenth notes for five seconds at a time
@@kevinjohnson5210 no but bluecoats are actually writing difficult music that's musical-- all of their stuff you can jam out to, whereas someone like crown this summer sounds like they're playing arban's articulation exercises and clarke studies the whole time

Music and overall execution of the show is phenomenal, while it might not be the most incredibly designed shows, it has a beautiful book, incredible soundscapes, and moments.
@ThinkHarderPlz the reason I like this show so much personally is the fact that it's a concept show. It doesn't tell a story, as much as it showcases a single concept through its visual and musical program. That Concept being Entropy. The movement from Order to Disorder; the idea that everything has an end. Everything falls apart. Everything dies. I just feel like they explored this idea incredibly effectively this season. Easily my favorite Bloo show since Downside Up
What in the world are they playing? There is no "recognizable" music....just a series of sounds. The "entertainment" caption is not what it used to be. The crowd doesn't get excited just hearing obscure sounds. If you played something patriotic, it would bring the house down.🎼🎺
I think this more of a you problem... It's okay if you don't like their musical selections but this definitely a strong musical program which they are playing interesting and exciting arrangements of. They're playing music written by established composers and artists, it's okay if you haven't heard it before but I highly recommend checking out the source pieces. Bloo has a great track record of introducing audiences to new and interesting music
