- very short benchmark using low/med settings at 1080p and 1440p. A longer more detailed video coming soon hopefully.
GPU: RTX 2070super
CPU: i7 8700k @4,9ghz and Ryzen 7 5800x3d
RAM: 32GB 3600mhz cl 16
Games:
Counterstrike Global offensive
Cyberpunk
Witcher 3
Cinebench
you are gpu bound except in counter strike on 5800x3d but you can see in cyberpunk in cpu stress test 8700k drop to 65 fps vs 95-100 fps of the 5800x3d and you had still your gpu max out so the difference will be larger with fast gpu
Yup the overhead is way bigger
2070S is the bottleneck, should be a newer better card or def not worth it at all
so they're the same in avg fps but the 5800x3d is 25-30% better in 1% lows
i think 1% lows are very important for that smooth stability but i don't think it's worth the upgrade
Especially in VR gaming. Consistent frames in VR is the reason I'm looking to upgrade from my 8700k to a 5800x3d.
He is severely GPU bottlenecked.
Thanks for your testing video. seems like my 9700k @5hz doesn't need an upgrade
2070 super not the best gpu for test like this. difference will be larger with a faster gpu.
the CPU was being heavily bottlenecked by the GPU. Also, CSGO known now as CS2 didn't utilize the V-Cache, CS2 uses the V-Cache and gets twice the performance.
Damn 8700k is still a beast
It truly is
It's a good match for 2070 super
if you pair it with lower end cards and 2070super are that now
its overpriced junk now, peoples wants for used more then new r5 5600/x costs and 5600/x are faster in everything
It's hard to make a hardware completely useless or outdated, i came to think. But yeah, i agree with what you exactly meant here. This CPU is still will be competitive and comparative for a long time forth
the emphasis in the GPU 5800x3d is much
not worth upgrade
Worth it if you have a powerful enough GPU to handle it.
