Months later, I came to Jesus and am so glad I dont have to control everything. Yes, get yer butt up and do what you can, but no longer needing full control.
@ZackSansing Maybe it's not acting like a real Christian, it's just being one. Are you different now? Not that I was sinless, but my spirit and mind were so different after asking Jesus to save me, instantly.
@@ZackSansing Find a solid biblical church where you can be ministered to, join a bible study with other christians, and read the bible - Ephesians, Colossians, Romans in the new testament talks more about life as a christian.
People who fall for this, as I did once, do not realise they start becoming OBSESSED with manifesting, repeating and not living the present cos their minds are always in the future. It becomes a mental health problem.
I actually found Christ through Neville Goddard. I was obsessed with manifesting and considered him the best. A podcast I listened to that taught his teachings recommended we read the Bible along with Godard’s books. I realized his teachings do not actually align with the Bible. I started going to church and I have since been sanctified of any new age beliefs I once held :) hallelujah
There is nothing wrong with setting goals, and even visualizing yourself attaining those goals with maintaining a healthy dose of positivity, however, the problem with this type of new thought idealogy is that it sends the message that we have total control over our lives and can create whatever our heart desires. There is one HUGE flaw in this line of thinking - people get sick, accidents happen, other people interfere into others' lives, etc. So many of the new thought "leaders" cannot answer those types of questions other than to blame the person for not being positive enough - that is victim shaming in the most blatant form. My heart goes out to all these people who are searching for something more beyond themselves. Many don't realize that what they are actually seeking is God and nothing or no one can fill that void but God. And for those within the prosperity gospel movement that advocate for "name it and claim it" practices...again, my heart goes out to them. Many do not know what they are doing and just blindly follow someone calling themselves a pastor, preacher, minister, etc.
I think that is often true however I have a friend who knows the truth about Jesus and how to know God and yet she turns to manifesting instead. She calls herself a manifesting gen…whatever that is 🤷🏻♀️ She is not looking for God she is trying to get rich and please her desires. It’s not about knowing God on His terms but rather going your own rebellious way. She gets angry if you try to tell her any truth. Anyway just to add to what you said cos it’s not always so clear cut
I agree. It's actually highly disrespectful because we are not God. Jesus said "I am" to show people that he was not just a man when he was on earth. We should never claim I am as a way to manifest. That's crazy.
Time definitely doesn’t help tell all. My mother is 72 and still spouts this stuff. And she’s beside herself that I walk with Christ. Maybe before it’s too late she will answer the call. I pray constantly He doesn’t give her up yet.
Same as my mom. I literally cannot say things like, I'm sick or broke etc. Because somehow magically it will become my reality even tho i can't say I'm rich and healthy and be fixed and wealthy the next day. I pray for her too. She despises Jesus sigh.
Keep praying for your mum and loving her, even if she makes it difficult! No-one is too far gone that Jesus can't reach out his arm to catch them. Who would have thought that Anthony Hopkins and Denzel Washington would come to the Lord?
This is the exact reason I stopped pursuing leadership in the MLM I was involved in. The ‘new thought’ version of Christianity was so prevalent, I couldn’t stay involved and keep my faith. Thank you for sharing.
I once knew a self-proclaimed witch who loved listening to Joel Osteen because of the positivity in his sermons. She said that she easily blocked out the "Jesus-y" parts of his sermons. That kind of tells me all I need to know about this prosperity gospel movement.
I'm going to "manifest" a good cup of coffee ! ☕ ... It will require me getting up and putting coffee grounds and water in the pot, and pushing the "on" button ! 😮😅
As a Gen Z, a relative made me watch "The Secret" at fourteen and got me a The Secret calendar, but I threw it away. In the explanatory video, a "pastor" talked about "forces attracting our reality." This really bust up what intentions to of materializing works for Christians. I disagreed with it. She also believes that I need to spend every dollar handed to me. These relatives are in debt. That checks. Remember, if you want money, work. God provides what you need also when you work, and without it, you only "manifest" poverty.
Very true. The Lord wants us to be good stewards of our money. Any left over at the end of the month should be for buying groceries for the food bank, or give to a homeless charity. You might like to read something by John Wesley. He nailed it.
@@deehampton8331 True. A lot of people my age and with a similar personality have trouble relating to the church, and don't feel obliged to give back. Shamefully, I don't tithe, but I have provided help for the church on occasion, and attend when I can.

You are so right. This sense of entitlement attitude is the nursery of narcissism. It says "I want, give me, I deserve". What happened to 'if your brother is cold, give him your spare coat'?
Honestly every time I hear someone talk about how their “manifesting” something it gives me such a major ick, and as someone who is Gen z, I hear it quite a bit.
100% agree Melissa with your video. I'm an ex New ager, now turned to Jesus. And I can tell you, that I was on a hamster wheel for 20 years ...even taught Yoga for a living. Leaving yoga was the hardest part of my transition to Christinianity.
As a Christian I feel the only thing we have control over is if we choose to internalize things negatively or positively. But ultimately we have to allow God to let things fall into place! God is my I AM!🫶🏽
As someone that was into new age and new thought and the law of attraction after Mormonism and before Jesus, hearing these voices makes me feel like throwing up.
"Hot High Priestess" is my age. She is ultimately trying to fill a hole in her life with things that won't last. Never heard about her until this video, but I pray that she will come to a saving relationsip with Jesus and repent of all of her new thought/new age beliefs and practices.
Honestly, if humans actually had the power to turn their thoughts into reality, it would be more terrifying than any Black Mirror episode. It would literally be a nightmare. Surprise, the heart of man is full of deceit and wickedness. Incredibly corrupt. Thank God that man is man and God is God and we don't have that kind of power. I also thank God that I get to submit to a good God who actually has the power to conjure anything from reality and who has the righteousness to manage that kind of power. This manifestation thing is more mainstream in the Church than people think. I work for a lady associated with Bethel who was teaching people about "the prophetic" and she mentioned something called foretelling and forth telling. And she said forth telling was when you gave a "prophetic word" and the speaking of that word was what activated that thing to come to pass. And I was like, where in the Bible does it say that. And also, isn't that strangely similar to manifestation?
Forth-telling means preaching God’s Word. Her problem is, she’s adding her imaginings and desires to God’s words… which has been the heresy of Pentecostalism since its beginning.

I wrongly believed you were a teen until you mentioned you had been married for 17 years. I must get my varifocals adjusted. God bless and sustain you, Sister.
I left a church a few years ago. The reason was that the pastor and a few others were getting involved in the Law of Attraction. I didn't feel comfortable staying. I think it was the Holy Spirit warning me about this belief.

I think this is a progression of Norman Peal’s book and teachings “The Power of Positive Thinking“. He was the first mega-Church Pastor of the Chrystal Palace in California back in the 1980’s. Similarly T D Jakes formed his prosperity religion soon after in Chicago, which is similar in that one manifests prosperity by “fake it until you make it” and giving to Jakes in order to get from God. I was mesmerized by their teachings after reading their ungodly books. Thanks be to God that I was delivered from them.
Peale started decades earlier than that, and it’s Crystal Cathedral, not palace. But it didn’t start there, it started in Pentecostalism decades before Peale. Peale just brought it into the Progressive churches.

I think some would quote Philipians 4:8 But my intepretation, that's not how it works. But it's a message from Paul for the people who read the message, to think and contemplate on good teachings, truth noble and all that stuff. Though miracles exists, people relied on it too much. I want to Be like Daniel's friend who said (paraphrased): if we enter the fire, God will protect us, but if we die, we will not give up God That's golden example of faith.
This is so serious and goes far beyond the religious issue. This comes from this modern philosophy that places the individual man as the center of the universe. The only thing that exists is me and everything else is just an object. The worst part is when this is linked to relationships. These people don't care about the other people around them. Be it their spouse, their friend, etc., they are just objects that they use to be part of the theater that they have put on for their lives. And when the other person shows their own will and breaks the spell of this theater, they start saying "hell is other people." They see God as a means to achieve something and not the ultimate end. Since they have taken the place of God as the creator of reality. I even feel sorry for them, because all of this is complete nonsense, and in the end they will end up frustrated and alone. And I particularly want to distance themselves from those who consume self-help content. They tend to become narcissistic and manipulative people over time.
I knew sometime back in around 2005 who had a lot of this kind of "advice". He told me to fix my back problems by starting every day saying, "I feel happy, I feel healthy, I feel terrific." He was constantly reading all the big self help books of his time to help fix his life. Hill and Goddard included. From what I saw, it led not to success, happiness and accolades, but bitterness and depression. Anyone who disagreed became an enemy. The Best things by far to think on is God's word. (Not the happy thoughts as Philippians 4:8 is often misquoted to support). Daily Bible study, through the whole Bible, not just favorite passages.
Thank you for placing this here. God’s rejection is protection some people cannot accept that the plan He has to have a “ No” or access denied. Because a perfect parent is not permissive. This stuff is pervasive. I'm 51 and I remember my dad, who is a very practical former Marine, telling me when I was a kid to "just tell yourself you're not sick." I always chalked it up to the 'can do' Marine Corp. attitude. Then, as an adult I found he had read The Power of Positive Thinking. He would also write things on scraps of paper that he wanted to happen and would carry them in his pocket. I learnedabout this stuff about 10 years ago but clearly it goes way back and finds a way to reinvent itself for each generation. I'm a Christian and don't entertain any of this stuff. I think the reason people like it so much partly because of the 'get rich quick' mentality and partly because it places people in control and tells them they have power over things greater than just themselves. I mean, you're supposedly manipulating the whole universe to your benefit, who wouldn't want to tap into that? So, it plays on one of humanities greatest needs, the need for control, to get them on board. And if it fails, well, you didn't do it properly, buy another book and keep trying.

It's the same in my part of the world. Where there is more emphasis on " if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you can tell this mountain move and plant yourself in the sea and it will", and not enough on " thy Will be done" from the lords prayer, not jesus' prayer at Gethsemane. " ....not my will father but thy will be done". Many churches it seems preach idolatry (self worship), and not the gospel.

I actually found Christ through Neville Goddard. I was obsessed with manifesting and considered him the best.

She calls herself a manifesting gen…whatever that is 🤷🏻♀️
She is not looking for God she is trying to get rich and please her desires. It’s not about knowing God on His terms but rather going your own rebellious way. She gets angry if you try to tell her any truth. Anyway just to add to what you said cos it’s not always so clear cut

Wow, when I hear some calling it The Decree, decree this over yourself, it's casting a spell with a flavor of spiritual psychology thrown in.
It’s demonic, honestly.
@nancywest1926 I just made that connect too. Decree/declare, manifesting, I Am, they're one in the same.
I agree. It's actually highly disrespectful because we are not God. Jesus said "I am" to show people that he was not just a man when he was on earth. We should never claim I am as a way to manifest. That's crazy.
@krystallos81 if I were to say I Am, it's I am a sinner and I am in need of Jesus our Savior.

I mean look around. It is lol 😂
Forth-telling means preaching God’s Word. Her problem is, she’s adding her imaginings and desires to God’s words… which has been the heresy of Pentecostalism since its beginning.

A very popular book in the 70s, "Wishcraft". It spawned workshops so we attendees could make everything we wanted, happen.
N V Peal was a freemason. Christianity and freemasonry don't mix

That's golden example of faith.

From what I saw, it led not to success, happiness and accolades, but bitterness and depression. Anyone who disagreed became an enemy.
