I found those Ozark Trail things at my Walmart last summer and got one for kicks… after I used it I went back and bought 4 more! Those are fantastic knives, especially for $5. I added them to the go-bag in every vehicle and threw one on my ATV and MTB. I wish the sheath was kydex (or at least kydex-like), but the holes in the plastic sheath let you be creative with zip ties. Walmart sold out of them within a day or two and they’ve never restocked. Glad I got them when I did. Those $3 bait knives are pretty good beaters too. With Walmarts sissy-stance on weapons (even the BB guns are now kept locked in cases) they won’t be selling knives at all soon, get the cheap ones when you can.
It's really solid. It's good to carry around and if something happens to it it's no loss. I use it as a backup knife. I carry a sidearm on my person and a shotgun in the trunk. In conjunction w that I carry a couple knives and some pepper spray. I like having options
Those little two dollar Walmart knives are awesome!! I once cleaned 12 hogs with one. I did have to hit the steel quite a bit, but it worked. If you see my knife, it doesn’t even have the same profile. I have sharpened it so many times. for two dollars. It’s not bad. You just have to know what you’re doing with a knife. There are far worse options.
I picked up one and replaced the crappy handle and put on a paracord wrap handle with a loop at the end and it's a hell of a lot better. I also re Apex the edge with a file and then Stone sharpened it to a razor sharp edge. Customize the sheet with small o-ring clips for keychain and a cord wrapped around your neck and it works great. 🤠
I like the full tang OT as well. I've picked up several. I removed the belt clip with my Dremel and can simply drop it into my pocket. For less than $5.00, yes it's a really good knife
I’ve watched a million prepper survivalist guys on TH-cam, and now I finally found someone who could explain wth those teeth on top of some knife blades are and what they’re for. Subscribed immediately. God bless you.
I use the same one as a backup knife carrying it as a backup knife. I use it for the less then ideal tasks because I’ll feel a lot better messing up a $5 knife then a $50 one
Own both of these and they are worth every penny and more! Love how people want to bash on these Walmart blades but then just look at the view count of this video alone!! There sure are a lot of closet Walmart knife lovers out there!🤣
I'm sure its dandy, but for $5 you'll never beat the serated victorianox. Fisherman buy to keep them alive, they cut through 1" line like butter. Out of the box, once used, they opt for a brand newby. This large quantity keep them inexpensive. Victorinox Classic 3.25" Paring Knife
There's tasks and activities where you don't use your more expensive knives. I don't like using my better knives when a fair amount of water is involved. One slip of the hand and it's gone. I use a Schrade that cost about the same as your OT. There's no OT knives in this country but you can get Hultafors for £8/9 that have comparative steel to a Mora but the handles are a little plainer and they're built like tanks. As long as you don't expect fancy they're very good.
The Mora imitation is not a copy of the Companion but of the Clipper. I agree with what you say, great for food prep and bait knife. That Ozark one for that price I would sure buy, probably several. Looks great as a little back up knife. I wish we had Walmart over here.
They're "unique" for sure. I don't think I've held a more barebones knife in my life....but it can cut quarter in rope and strangely enough, wire...pretty well.
Great review my friend. You got me as a sub. I was gonna get the Ozark trail, had it in my hand and on the way to check out and for some reason I put it back. I have a bunch of knives that are similar, but cost way more. Maybe you can do a video on using it. Show us cutting, stabbing that sort thing. Thanks for the vid bud
Hello; I like that "Bertucci Field DX3" but you didn't share any info about it. Yours is the 2nd video I've seen featuring the cheap Walmart/Ozark Trail knives. I didn't know Walmart even has these super cheap knives. I bought the cheap Ozark Trail two-way radios (2-pack). But I've had a hard time understanding the "instructions" if I can call 'em that. I usually stay out of Walmart & when I do go I try to get out ASAP. (I really hate that place, I call it squallmart, 'cause when I go there it makes me want to cry.) I guess I'll have to check out Walmart's 'bushcraft' gear. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
It may look like a mora but it doesn't have the classic scandi, buy the mora even tho the bait knife is like 3 bucks, you can't trust that u can trust A mora
Agreed - one way I've improved this is by applying a little bit of heat (literally holding it not far from the fireplace) while the knife is in it, then "molding it" with my hand around the blade while it's still sheathed. Made it a bit more snug.
The sheath on the second knife is terrible. Too much retention. The clip also doesn't work very well. You end up pulling the sheath with the knife. That's just my experience. It could do with a custom kydex sheath and I think it's be great then.

I've beaten the crap out of mine around the shop and it's still kicking. Retention sucks, but its an easy sharpening job.

Its a nice little truck knife for the money - good one to toss in the bad and forget about.

If it's just small teeth, then it's jimping for more grip. If they're bigger and have the right geometry, they can be used as a saw.
Most of those guys never made knives and/or just care about getting their affiliate pay. Thanks for the compliment!
Bought 2 so far. The design fits my hand just perfect.
I use the same one as a backup knife carrying it as a backup knife. I use it for the less then ideal tasks because I’ll feel a lot better messing up a $5 knife then a $50 one
440c is a good steel ,when I was a kid that was the top Steel easy to sharpen absolutely no problems

Yeah the knife world is no better than the fashion world now.
@@truthlight2816 thankyou sir for this video.
The 3" knife is good for a throwaway beater knife to keep in your vehicle where you won't scream if it gets lost or stolen...

I just looked it up and WOW. You aren't kidding. Ordering myself a few now....Much appreciated!

I am from Europe, where there is no Walmart, and I envy you these knives...:)

Thanks man!
Hello;
I like that "Bertucci Field DX3" but you didn't share any info about it.
Yours is the 2nd video I've seen featuring the cheap Walmart/Ozark Trail knives.
I didn't know Walmart even has these super cheap knives.

Hey! I just did a video on 5 of my favorite inexpensive watches. The Bertucci is one of them. The one I have runs about $60USD
was waiting for this Christmas but nothing, most likely sitting in a container in the ocean. do have 6 from the last Xmas
The Mora companion is about 70% tang and it tapers down.
Got one a few weeks ago, like it, but unfortunately the local store only has the half serrated version.
but the warning says it can expose you to lead
I Love To Buy Three Each For My Mom And My Dad And Myself.
I bought 2 because I couldn't believe a full tang blade was going for 5$
Lots of good bargains out there - really nice options to throw in a vehicle or ATV bag.
Love the 5$ knife carry it every where.
Wonder what the steel is. I got one too.
The bait knife could be made in China or Pakistan. Have to check the sticker.
Ozark Trail uses 420 stainless.
The $5 knife not bad
Excellent video
It may look like a mora but it doesn't have the classic scandi, buy the mora even tho the bait knife is like 3 bucks, you can't trust that u can trust A mora
The sheeth is pretty bad. Bought this for a fixed blade full tang carry but there's no retention with the sheeth
Agreed - one way I've improved this is by applying a little bit of heat (literally holding it not far from the fireplace) while the knife is in it, then "molding it" with my hand around the blade while it's still sheathed. Made it a bit more snug.
I bought this knife but mine won’t lock in it’s sheath
Push harder. Almost as if you were trying to push it through the sheath.
What the hell? Are swedish Mora knives famous worldwide? I never knew that, I´m swedish. They´re boooring to me, everybody has one here lol
The $5 blade not bad
GOOD KNIFE. GOT 2 OF THEM. US ARMY. HOOAH
new sub.
If that’s all ya got… ok
The sheath on the second knife is terrible. Too much retention. The clip also doesn't work very well. You end up pulling the sheath with the knife. That's just my experience. It could do with a custom kydex sheath and I think it's be great then.
Its a 5 buck knife
@@dcongdon2294 yeah I know I'm just stating the facts here. Wouldn't you want to draw just your knife and not the knife with the sheath on it?
So why bother
Get to the point bud
You still in your parents basement? Bunker that is.
So why bother
