When I was a bit younger in my 40s, I didn’t mind staying in super cheap places but now that I’m in my 50s, I do try to go at least mid range.😉🌴🏡

Those type of rooms are for sleeping and showering only. Waste of money as you actually spend more money because you end up going out because of the room.
Yes I rented a lovely condo right at the end of the beach pretty much, soi 19 had a lovely big pool surrounded by lovely gardens and flowers so I spent a lot of time just chilling in the complex had a thai restaurant on one side and a American hamburger joint on the site ok it was 15.000 bht a month but didn’t need to get out all the time because it wasn’t a depressing place, and yes eddy that soi is a boys town thing in jomtien but some normal bars up there too.
When l was younger l preferred Pattaya, now I'm more mature l prefer Jontiem.
Jomtein is an excellent place to live. 120 baht for the taxi to central Pattaya or if you want to cheap out 10 baht with the bus yeah.
Eddie if you don't change that diet you won't last much longer!! 😳

I am no snob and stay in Pattaya three months a year but that room you’re staying in would depress me, cheap it may be but with the wiring outside the balcony etc I would have thought you could find something better!
I stay in guest houses in pattaya and can extend my stay I don't need luxury a nice comfortable bed is good enough.
it's fine, just don't book more than a night or two, walk around and you may see something better and just move.

Jomtien is my place now. Don't stay in central Pattaya anymore. Great cheap food and beer. And some other cultural activities that an educated gentleman like me pursues.
Jomtien looks good I only ever go there to see my visa agent. Cheap Charlie’s on soi 5 just down from the immigrant office 89 baht breakfast. I need to try the bars over there. Thanks for the review of the area. It looks good

Its great for the price ,and Eddy is not one of the 2 week millionaires .
This is the way inexpensive places look in Thailand, a little functional.
Looks OK for a night or 2. Beyond that, it would be quite depressing. Unless you're always outside, and just need a place to sleep & shower. I do like the spacious balcony.

I always stay at Jomtien when I visit Pattaya. Very laid back and relaxed. Lovely beach. Cheap hotels. Pattaya only 20 mins away.

Went over to Jomtien for a day for the first time when we were in Pattaya last January , really impressed with it 👍

Nothing wrong with the room. I’ve stayed in a lot worse. It had everything I require. Massage shop over the road. Price is great. Near the beach. Baht bus to central pattaya. Perfect

Jomtien for me is like the smaller version of Pattaya so usually a few weeks at Pattaya then another few in Jomtien to chillout and far better place to swim in.

Nothing wrong with that hotel Eddy. Hot shower, roof doesn't leak, no bugs and A/C whats not to like. May give Jontien a whirl next time around.
Eddy, to get the baht bus to Pattaya you've just got to walk up to Thappraya/ Jomtien 2nd rd.
those steps would put me off, but the place looks very nice indeed, but the roadworks would put me right off staying there.. also the food looks fantastic.. cheerz eddie

at 8:32 I was just waiting for Eddi Reader, she of FAIRGROUND ATTRACTION, to start singing ".....from the top....of the bus...." lol. Check out her brilliant song Patience of Angels, dead-ringer for that haunting bass-line. Anyways......Jomtien....smashing place. I've always considered it as a potential base for semi-retirement giving you the best of both worlds with Pattaya just a hop skip and a jump away....if you'll pardon the pun. I've stayed in rooms like that, perfectly acceptable, but I do try and go a wee bit upmarket, like THE HIDEAWAY or the now defunct BOOMERANG GUEST HOUSE( which was fantastic and well-run.)Luv the vids EDDY keep up the good work mate.

All you have to do is walk a block out of your way to catch the Baht Buss back to Pattaya.Your place is halfway to second road already. Why all the unnecessary complaining?

Good place, a little expensive, but if electric is included it might be a good deal.
I use to stay in rooms like that but not anymore. I've stayed in some great apartments via AirBnB for £30 per night in Portugal and Morocco recently.
Like your balcony, but stay away from all those electric wires that are running by. That whole mess could go up in a mighty flash in case of a short circuit or a lightning hit. Why don't they straight out their electric system? it would cost them less in the end.

Beautiful stuff Eddy. Nice little hotel room, massage places for a bit of rompy pompy on your doorstep and plenty of dining options and nightlife. What more does a man need.
Intelligence
A rope and a stool in about 6 months if he's not careful. That afternoon into night drinking, ST's then back to your flop house rinse and repeat can actually get super depressing very quickly. I spent 3 months in Pattaya in my late 20's following a break up and the first 2 weeks were amazing and cathartic but by month 3 I'd lost all sense of normal behaviour. When you go for a soapy on Christmas morning you might need a quiet word with yourself
@@willsmith39 It's far better than being stuck in the UK married to a fat ageing 60-something y/o and going to the local social club for entertainment on a Saturday night. Different if you've been together since you were young, but for the single gentlemen out there this lifestyle is far more appealing.

No I hear you mate and I don't disagree but I do think eddy needs to watch the alcohol intake and get himself some sort of hobby other than traveling in circles and a bit of mongering. Rent an apparentment longer term somewhere a bit away from the madness, join a gym or swimming club or friggin lawn bowls but just other distractions with some social interactions with people his own age that aren't horizontal and transactional
I've never been there, but I always think it looks very nice there. Your hotel looks great. I'd need earplugs though probably :) Like the nice chill out music you use in your videos. Haven't had time to look at youtube recently, but will be checking in more in the future. All the best !

I have ONLY stayed in Jomtien. For 20 years. Never ever tried staying in Pattaya. But I got fed up, to be honest.
Really Jomtien and Pattaya are effectively two different towns. I've spent time relaxing on the beach in Jomtien and found it so relaxing after the mayhem of Pattaya. I'd consider retiring there if my circumstances allowed. Not sure I'd be eating sunday roasts in 40c heat though Eddy. Nothing wrong with Hotel California by the way!! ;)
Hotel California is one of the greatest records ever. But I do not want to hear it ever ever ever again!

Thats defiantly the Boys Town soi in Jomtien even though I am not a visitor to that location. Soi 5 and 7 are the usual haunts for girls and Rompo market across second road. I do like the Wombat and Kiwi bar too. Give me Jomntien over Central Patts any day.
I stayed right next door last year to that guest house you’re in Eddy, The Thai Orchid, was fine and similar price, I was fortunate that there was no hanging cables outside my balcony and I didn’t experience any noise but too far away from Soi 7 and decent nightlife and with that Baht bus one way be a nightmare, only one Go Go in Jomtien I believe and that’s The Viper opposite Country Road.
Very reasonable price.small but all the mod cons.balcony to relax with a beer and a ciggy.cant ask for anything more.thanks for sharing.muchly appreciated.

Re the beach at the top end, yes I believe it has traditionally been a hang out place for gay males!.
Jump on a baht bus to Pattaya=stay in Pattaya. Easier just going there for an arvo for a look instead.
Jomptien doesn't do too much for me but you'd get sick of Pattaya as well. They are both relatively cheap for a tourist areas, and no doubt you could find somewhere nice a few streets back closer to the hills. All pretty close by either way, easy on the baht bus or walk.
Always good to book one night only, then can confirm the place is acceptable and in a decent location.
How about a video where you splash out and stay in a fancy hotel? I bet you get tons of views. Steady Eddy goes 5 star!

Not sure. You could put your writing and acting skills to work. A dream sequence. You go to sleep after a few cold beers and wake up in the Hilton. You have a great day, only to hit your head at the end wake up back at the bar 😁
It looks cleaner than the videos of streets I have seen in Pattaya.
The room seemed basic but clean. If you are spending all day outdoors it would be fine.

I've spared myself from anything Chonburi my last three visits. If a bullet was forced to my head, I'd do Jomtien over Pattaya. I'm fortunate with free will and don't venture there.

Plenty of sand .They widened it .Water though just a little cleaner than Pattaya .

Missed u by 2 weeks Eddie, jomtien walking street? If u turn right halfway down u will be in no doubt if it's boys town or not.😅. Nowhere near as busy as I remember, heat was oppressive, I in Chiang mai now @ weather very good now,2 days of rain have transformed the place. 😊
Viper Bar is a Go Go bar Eddie. And yes, Walking Street is where the Batty Boys hang out. If you walk to the beach and turn right, that area of the beach is the gay beach too. I think Pratumnak would be a better place to stay, in between Pattaya and Jomtien.

Hello Eddie i have never stayed in jomtien but i like to visit for a change of scenery and its reasonably easy to get to with baht buses. Plus i like to visit Jade House Hotel for lunch and R and R . The beach is nice for a relaxing rest. I think its quite well known it has a gay scene there also. The room was fine i don't do luxury hotels. Have a great time in pattaya 😊
