This is what got me into jazz about two years ago. And since then jazz has become one of the biggest parts of my life, which I simply can't live without. I can't describe how much I'm grateful for these musicians at their highest artistry.
Big thumbs up to the sound engineer, perfect balance between the instruments to match the synergy between the musicians. Jazz greats, been a Bob James fan for decades.
These guys know what their doing. Listen to the musical telephathy between them.Listen to the dynamics. Feel their 'feel' and they will take you on a pretty smooth ride down that highway called groove...
Oh how you said , so on point , perfect , thank you, you get it, while so me others do not, so sad. It goes to the core. My art is often created with Bob James in the sound back ground....
i could not agree more. I had my laptop on for some other piece of music and it rolled into this. I literally stopped what I was doing to know more. I am taken to say the least. Everyday I play two pieces of music for my pupils from an era they would not ordinarily be exposed to on a daily basis. It's become the thing ..... they ask for more and more music .... they are four years old and some five!
Smooth jazz will always transport your soul, heart, mind and well being into another dimension that I call nirvana's synergy. There's no hate, protest or complaining in these compositions, just pure bliss and harmony that they have gifted the world.
I got hooked on Him with The Head and Tail album. Been a fan every since. He really blow this mind games up with Boney James. Bob is Smooth, Cold, Hard And all that.
It seems whenever Bob James has touched my soul to the max, he again performs an even better piece. When will it ever end- I hope never. This piece really shines in the live performance. It just makes me slow down and appreciate my life with all of its successes and failures. listening to Bob is a blessing I will always thank God for!
And 28 Stupids Dislike They Don't Have A Mind Just Playing A Dirty Game Here. Maybe More Stupids But I Don't Hope So.Anyway Fourplay Do A Great Combinaison Between Us.Master Piece. Thanks For Sharing
It’s my Sunday morning here in China. The weather is good and we have a clear blue Sky today 💥. This song as my choice for today sets the tone for my week ahead!
Bob James Trio -Mind Games That really touched the heart. With all that has been happening this week with Weather,Politic's,and the Social Gathering leaves me with gentle steps ,that is a nice Tune.
What a wonderful performance! This is one of Bob James' best improvisations, there are magnificent phrasings, the bassist and drummer's conduct is impeccable!
Both Genius and Kilson also played for Chris Botti as well, but then again, Chris Botti at one time played for Bob James so the musicianship of Jazz is strong between everyone in the community. There is no feuding in this genre, just the best artists on earth giving you silky smooth, rich, unconscionable melodies that can only be described as when your thirsty and you quench a thirst you say "AHHHHHH"!!!!!
The rhythm patterns that are created by the bassist and drummer are infectious and lay the path for Bob to create his exploration into this composition. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for uploading this, I never knew he ever performed this live. And this version without the sax makes it a bit more.....chill. Simply. Smooth.
He up there; bad man; but a little emulation. if you know and love bob like i do, you'll do your research and find out where his sound comes from; how he and his great talent got pushed forward. i love him much because he's never forgotten that. i'm sure that he forgot a long time ago that he is white. i've seen on albums and live performances where he auditioned white players. At the end of the day, he winds up with a group of black professionals that push him to perfection as much as he tries to push them. bob is one of the guys that came out in the seventies to rescue jazz music. Soul music had taken over and jazz was just about obsolete: Herbie Hancock, Ramsey Lewis Grover Washin'ton Breaker Brothers always; Quincy J, aka The Dude; Jodygrinder Ahmad Jamal I'll not attempt to tell the origins of they're influence, but it's obvious that they influenced each other and had a big influence on bob' Bob probably used to walk into the studio and have to announce, Okay fellas, this is my show, play the parts that i've written. They probably all smiled and said ok, but in they're first thought, with dem same big ol' smiles, they thought to themselves, man we bousta push the shit outta you. I think it's obvious that bob handled that pressure. Seems like bob has always had a black band pushing. He doesn't distinguish talent, good is good, better is better, but great? This is what I got to have! Pra'bly the most silent part of the civil rights movement you'll ever read about. One of the few that modernized the easy listening jazz that we enjoy today: jazz to soul jazz to funk jazz to classical jazz to disco jazz to The Blues jazz to some other jazz, He up there. He gosta' be mellow. I got my opinions and he's ranked up high among them! To Sir, and all the Ma'ams, Much love
James Genus (double bass player) style reminds me of Niels Orsted Pedersen (in "Nigerian Marketplace" with Oscar Peterson). I love it! Same groove, same style, as if the bass is telling a story or commenting the story of the piano... Awesome!
This Bob James style and flair along with Four80East help paint flow from the brush as I appreciate paint of Stuart Davies slow low easy voice . These things seem to flow

Humans can not get much better than this.
Big thumbs up to the sound engineer, perfect balance between the instruments to match the synergy between the musicians. Jazz greats, been a Bob James fan for decades.
