I can't get enough of listening to this great tune over and over again 🤩 !!! And Marcus Miller himself is still playing it in his live performs, like in Brno in the Czech Republic no later than last November 4th.
Yep, I still remember a perfect summer evening watching Sanborn and Miller play a floating amphitheater on the river in Tulsa, while in my early 20s. Still love their funky smooth jazz!
We would play stuff like this to demo in the sound rooms at Circuit City. When no one was around we would spend hours in those rooms going through our cd collections. I don’t think the Onkyo M-504 amp ever had a chance to rest.

There's very little I understand about Jazz... except that it reaches me in a way other types don't. Totally agree about seeing the world differently! ✌️♥️
@@Mark-pp7jy Here's a brief lesson about how to "understand" jazz. First, understand that there are only two types of music in the world: Jazz; and all the other music in the world. Jazz is as much a language or form of personal expression as it is music, and, like a fine scotch whiskey, it is an acquired taste, requiring "educating" your mind to accept it like you "educate" your taste buds to ultimately "understand" scotch. Simply stated, and without going into the construct of jazz, try to hear each musician as expressing his extemporaneous feelings in that moment, operating freely but always within the space, tempo and melody that the song provides. When you see and hear a musician taking a solo within the song's structure, try to listen to the rhythm section keeping time and the context of the melody and then try to imagine yourself playing that solo by stepping inside the soloists head and trying to feel rather than simply hear what he is expressing as part of himself and his feelings in the moment. Jazz is maleable and lends itself to many of its own forms as well as other genres of music, simply because it is an expression of feelings as much as it is an independent form of music. Try listening to this piece maybe three times consecutively to get the gist of what I am saying: It is extremely complicated the first time you hear it, but if you listen to it again and once again, you will get over the newness and the challenge of understanding it and find a level of profound enjoyment for what is going on on that stage and how it can change what you are feeling as well. Play special attention to the underlying tune and beat which continues in the backgroud throughout. It showcases the God of All Music, Miles Davis. Use speakers or audiphones to enjoy deeply. And good luck. th-cam.com/video/O51U38Y3gIE/w-d-xo.html
I get what you mean, but there were and are always Jazz "experts" critics, who say this is jazz and this not jazz.. that is what they did for example with Miles Davis with his 70s and especially 80s stuff, which I love the most..Miles also always said Jazz is a white man term.. pretty funny
@@leobulero3485 The problem is that the so-called "experts" tend to identify the type of Jazz that they grew up with as the true form of Jazz. What they don't realilze - or care to admit - is that Jazz is more than just a musical form; it is a language unto itself and, even more, is a "vibe" that can easily translate into other genres of music...Latin Jazz, Brazilian Jazz, Acid Jazz, etc. In short, Jazz is a profound sense of "soul"and is not limited to any specific era or expression. I hear Jazz in some Country music (the Allman Brothers' "Whipping Post"), in Marc Anthony's salsa, in Ivan Lins's Bossa Nova, in Buika's and Joan Manuel Serrat's flamenco and Spanish music, and in the Motown and R&B of Marvin Gaye, all for example. In short, you can "feel" Jazz as much or more than hear it and when you arrive at that spiritual level of emotional understanding, you can more fully appreciate what I wrote in my initial post above. Listen with your heart, not your ears or your head. If you can deeply appreciate Miles' and Coltrane's "Round About Midnight" and have an equally profound appreciation for Miles's "Tutu," you have arrived.

Keyborad player is Federico Pena..... he played with Meshelle Ndegeocello and many others
That's exactly right - "haunting intro by the keyboard player". Tastefully done!!!

JAZZ!MUSIC! IS! THE! GREATEST! MUSIC! NOW! YOU! KNOW! THE! (JAZZ!MAN)! *MIKE! SPENCE!
It took me nearly all day to dial George's Fushion Electric lead guitar simulations into my Floor Rig into Full Stereo wide Sonic power and awesome Yamaha Digital bright hall Reverb plus luscious super modulated Stereo Chorus with awesome transparent layering of perfectly tap timed Stereo Digital Delay. Then topped it off in front with nice FatCompression plus sent out all this with gorgeous BBE Stereo Sonic Maximizer Unit going into BOTH my Roland Jazz Chorus 120 amps and I have these amps up on angled amp stands so as to pointing right at me at approx 30degree angles INWARDLY towards my back. You should witness this Sonic Reality as the guitar tone is punchy fat luscious and amazing sustain and absolute clarity thanks in large part by my Stereo BBE Unit with leads going into my utmost Cleanest Channels and on amp EQs.
Nice. great musicians. Drummer is SOLID!

Yeah me too
I've been listening to David Sanborn and Marcus Miller since the 80's. Nobody can play that sax and bass better than they. One of my favorite tunes. Their music is timeless. RIP George Duke.
Me Too,great musicians
MeToo!
3 musical powerhouses right here, with a great supporting cast as well. Been a fan of Sanborn since the mid-1980s.
