  • Brand new oven and burner, keeps going out with gas. went ahead and exchanged the burner, and getting the same problem with the brand new one, which makes very little sense. In any case, this video was shot for the purpose of support from the manufacturer, but after spending more than $1000 and having a brick here, I don't know if I want to sit around waiting for support to resolve this as it will likely mean another few weeks at best before there's a resolution or replacement.
I could have bought something used and saved a lot of money if I wanted to be troubleshooting, but I bought this all brand new a week ago and didn't expect to have to spend time and effort troubleshooting something for a month before I could use it...

Just opened a ticket with Ooni, with the video showing the exact same thing. We'll see how that goes.

Had the same problem. Took apart the the plate on the back of the burner that had four screws. The nut securing the thermocoupler was loose, tightened it now It works fine.

@@bloopified glad you got it figured out. I had read that online also and tried, but it didn't help me, and in any case I lost faith in it when something requires modification out of the box just to work. I'm pretty happy with what I got now (Gozney ARC XL) and have not had a single issue with it.

@@cpuwhiz22 glad to hear your new ones working. Happy Pizza.

I am having the same issue, and the same feelings😢. I open a ticket with Ooni requesting a new burner. Thank you for posting

I did that too. I will say their support was trying their best to help, but sadly after spending $1k on the oven and accessories like the burner, I didn't want to spend weeks trying to fix something brand new that should just work. I'm very happy with my Gozney ARC XL though and I've not had any issues with it. The only drawback is that it's only gas which is why I wanted the Karu, but realistically, cooking with wood is not something that I planned to do regularly, so I had to let that go because the multi fuel Gozney dome was almost 3x the price of the Ooni, and the ARC was the same price as the Karu and actually cheaper since you don't need to but the gas burner separately. Good luck!

I understand you're a pain, my guess burner in my exact same oven will not stay lit for more than a minute or so. The front vent is open completely all the way, liver is vertical and I can see that the vent is open.
The rear damper is open so I can see what is going on, the thermocouple seems to work to the point where it keeps the gas flowing, but again after a few moments up to a minute the flame will stop, if I close the damper in the rear, the flame goes out almost immediately. Some safety mechanism is tripping way too soon in two sensitive.

@@Atticman1369 that's what my hypothesis was as well. A safety feature that was faulty or too sensitive. Good luck. Ooni was going to replace it with one they were personally going to test in Texas, but at that point I lost faith (two ovens, two burners, both new and didn't work). FWIW I got the Gozney ARC XL and I love it and have not had any issues with it.

I am going to try to extend the thermocouple out a little bit. I do have the ability to measure the voltage and current using a blowtorch to make sure the thermocouple itself is generating the correct power to keep the solenoid active to hold the gas valve in the open stage.

@@cpuwhiz22okay, I extended the thermal couple out so the tip of it is in line with the burner. It seems to be working much better so far. It's going longer than it has been since I attempted this today.

@@Atticman1369 that's great. For me I was just tired of trying to make something work that was brand new. Shouldn't have to spend your time fixing something that should work. If I got a used one I would expect this, but I paid the premium to get a new one so I wouldn't have to deal with issues. That's why I gave up after replacing it without any progress. Good luck!
