I've gone through a test process for one of my 8 chairs. Wow , these pros make it look so easy. I had issues with flaring the corners to cutting out for the legs. And not pulling equal tension on fabric!!

I have un-upholstered dining chairs similar to these. I like how you took off the wooden seat and replaced with webbing. Much softer seared feel I’m sure. Great idea! I will also watch my back rails. I may need to remove some and replace with webbing. Webbing for the win! Lol
I have two skirted parson's chairs I am recovering with a discontinued fabric by Waverly, "George Town Roses". I have covered them once before with Waverly "Country Life" blue toile fabric. I am following your exact procedure because the seat was not ever comfortable or supportive and I felt like one sank into the seat when seated on them and it bothered me. Every step that you took was a step to produce a supportive seat and lasting piece of furniture. Very good tutorial. Thank you, dear Englishman!

Hello! I am raking up the views for this video. I am self-taught, doing my own furniture that needs a facelift. I am doing a small child's rocker and this video is exactly what I needed to guide me through the corners and how to make this rocker less bumpy, and much easier. I had everything done, when my sewed up pattern ended up to short. I think my foam was thicker than the original. It also had piping along the seat and up the back. My fabric started fraying when I was pulling it to the back. UGH! I took everything apart and I am following you step by step. You make this look so easy and seamless with a beautiful finish chair. I am hoping my rocker will come out the same way. I will not be sewing pieces together this time. Thanks for putting your tutorials up here.

Was the dacron removed before covering. Love the videos, I am attempting to start this on 8 chairs, never done this before. so starting with the first. I'm using existing foam, but where I am increasing the level of foam, and adding another level I might need some more dacron!!
I agree with your, no cut corners, attitude completely. I'm the same way and go that extra step to make sure anything that comes from my hands is solid. But as a person who's currently reupholstering a similar chair, do you think your excessive staples will make it harder for the next guy 20 years from now? Perhaps a centimeter or half inch apart would suffice.

They are glue-lam shaped back and seat with a curved front , 1” foam and fabric cover. I will completely deconstruct, refinish and refoam. I would like more cushion than the original but I’m concerned that a thicker foam would not shape to the curves. 1” + 1/2” + poly?? What would you suggest? Thank you again for excellent instruction.

I wanted to use horse hair as the bottom layer above the initial muslin. Is that a good idea or do i need something firmer below it like some thin plywood cutout?
Horse hair is good. Don't use boards as they don't give when sat on. There is a guy on here called Buckminster Upholstery who is great with traditional methods. 👍⛏️✂️📐🧵
Great video!..I am tempted to try do my chairs myself.. I have a question, can you gain a bit of height by using a thicker firm block of foam and cover it with a softer thinner one to make it more comfortable or use a thicker mdf/plywood base under the foam. My chirs are a bit short for the height of my table which is a bit uncomfortable

Depends on the state of the original foam. Don't take it off if you don't need to. I took all this off to show how bad the original manufacturing was. 📎✂️🧵📐👍
Good work but I have one question. Why not just use 5” foam for the death and just trim the edge with your cutter to get that dome shape? It felt like more of an effort to do all that stuffing

This is crazy. You replaced a solid piece of board in the seat with flimsy bands/straps??? Why would you do that? I really don't get this type of construction - instead of using a solid base you folks go for straps ... the foam is there for cushioning, there is no need for the straps.

Yes to all! You can add foam and make the wood thicker if needed. As long as it looks proportionally correct, you do what you gotta do. 🙌🧵⛏️✂️👍🪡📐
