Hello Travis. Truck Driver Ray here. Nice bones in that 1960 Chevrolet Apache. I have 2 1960 Chevrolet Stepsides, 1 still assembled and original and 1 in 6 pieces. I also have a 1960 Chevrolet Apache Suburban. Looking forward to seeing you're build. Very inspirational. Giving me the get up and lets do something gitters 😂. Thanks for sharing this with you're followers. SE YA ON THE NEXT ONE.
Heck yea!! That’s awesome. Get motivated, slacker. Hahaha.
Thanks for this Travis! Keep up the great work. I look forward to watching the progress on the Sonny build.
Thanks for watching.
Sweet! Super excited to see this build!
Hope you enjoy it!
Yayyy ! Finally a 60 build to follow ! Booo ! a "Lay Frame" bagger ! Some of us need a pick-up to be a pick-up ! But I'm so looking forward to following this build ! Your plan for a clean interior with a patina exterior matches my build perfectly ! & You already got me wondering if I need to notch for driveshaft clearance on my 2 1/2" / 5" drop ?
You may need to notch depending on your engine and trans combo
Love your channel bro! I was thinking of starting a channel of my own with my 65’ C10. You are very thorough and well spoken. This new project looks amazing. The nose on this model is in the rare category for custom trucks. I absolutely love it!
@@SamboRambo79 wow thanks so much. I appreciate the well spoken comment. I question myself a lot with that haha. Being a Tennessee boy with an accent. It’s who I am though!! Haha.
Bro, I super excited about this build…
@@brentsheets117 awesome! Thank you.
It’s a 235 with a road draft tube (before PCV)
Thanks!
So excited for this build I bought a 61 c10 right out of highschool and got intimidated by the unique x-frame and torsion bar. Can’t wait to learn all about it and follow along
Awesome man!! I’ll be following the build. Love that color.
Thank you. It’s for sure a unique truck.
Great Video. Looking forward to every video, again l am working on a '61. If the overall project is intimidating l tell people don't look at the project as a whole you look at small steps or project points and focus on that, small projects at a time gets the entire project done eventually. Just like your list break down. I envy your ability to just go forward with the project and buy what you need to do what you need to do. Someday 👍 l will be there.
It’s been a long process to be where I’m at now. This is the fifth year and multiple truck sales. I wouldn’t have even been able to do this if I didn’t sell a truck to build a truck. That’s why I try to relate to all types of people and what their budget and ability is. Its fun. Thankful to build these trucks.
Looks like it’s gona be a sweet build looking forward to the content
Thank you
I'm very happy you're doing one of these earlier trucks, I have one and love the hood, but have been struggling to find parts for any truck before a 63. I know newer parts can be made to fit, but it's hard to find a video of anyone showing how to do it.
Let me know if you have any questions!
G'day travis. Can't wait to watch this build as it's the same as mine. Want to see you do the gas pedal swap. Oh put a 383sbc and 700r4
LS on this one. Lucky has a small block so wanted to do another LS
Nice start, there is a lot to learn. Still looking for the truck. Lon
I’m pumped. Good luck!
Wow, you don't see those much anymore, especially that survivor. This will be fun to watch
Thanks!
Hello Aaron. Truck Driver Ray here. He's got it going on rt there. I have 2 1960 Apache Stepsides and a 1960 Apache Suburban. They are rare, especially in that condition for sure. I'm looking forward to his visit. Enjoy.😊
I love the pig nose also. Can’t wait to see the progress on this beauty. Where do find these amazing survivors?☀️ 🌞
This one was in Kansas
That’s where I am. That one got away from me 🫤🥴😀
I like what your doing to the outside paint but I'd like to see the interior new. New paint, seat and even door seals.
That’s the plan!
I am in the midst of 400 sbc swapping a 61 truck, lmc truck sells motor mount perches for a 63 that can be made to fit with a half inch metal block on top of the frame rail as a spacer.
Cool. Let me know how it goes.
I’ve been watching and sharing your videos for awhile now. Always excellent information 👍🏽. How long do you think the build will take to complete? I have a complete Porterbuilt chassis for my 1948 Chevy truck and my brother is doing a front and back half for his 1950 Chevy truck. Good luck on your build , it’ll definitely motivate me to get busy on my build.
I usually wrap up a build in right at a year. Especially this one. It’s gonna need a lot and I’m going to take my time to document everything.
Love it. Sounds like a well thought out solid plan.
LS3 with a good choppy cam?
What are you thinking for wheels? 20’s or 22 x 10’s? Going with the Transport style or more modern spoke look?
Looking forward to follow along.
Not sure on wheels yet. Maybe a 20 with a fat tire. I like the Detroit steel artillery style with a big lip on the back but they won’t show my nice brakes.
I’m doing a built 5.3 because it’s a lot cheaper to build.
Trans should be an SM420 4 speed
Thanks!
What do you think about swapping in a 1967 c10 crossmember into a 1962 c10
It’s a good idea. Still need to do disc brakes and spindles with the slam kit.
@@SIMPLE.C10 thanks for the advice
Road draft tube
Thanks
The tube coming out of the engine in front of the distributor on the passenger side is a road draft tube. It was an early way to rid the crankcase of fumes, much like how a PCV works, as you drive down the road the road air going across it causes a vacuum essentially and pulls fumes out. Thats why in old videos of traffic in the 50's, there were black strips down the center of the lanes. It was oil buildup. Also why they said it was dangerous to drive for the first 15 minutes of rain because of "oil slick," due to how much oil was on the road from this system. Soon after in the late 60s that system was replaced with an active PCV and 'flame arrestor' system, to create a closed system that would burn the excess oil fumes with the rerouting of it to the intake, being burned in combustion.
@@KishCorner thank you so much for taking the time to explain that. I love that kind of information!
@@SIMPLE.C10 No problem. My 54 Bel Air uses that system so it was cool seeing it on your truck and was nice to share some of my outdated information!
That c notched black x-frame sure looks familiar. 🤔
@@jdgardner502 The photo was from Velaworks website. Are you the owner or do you know the owner?
sand the points
What’s that mean?
I think the front suspension out of a 73-87 would just about bolt in with an exception of a couple holes drilled and elongated
Yes. It will work but you would still need to get drop spindles but that’s one way to do it.
I'm really excited to see what you are going to do with it. You do some really bitchin stuff. Thank you so much for the awesome content@@SIMPLE.C10
@ thanks for the kind words. That’s totally new means a lot.
I went this route, the whole front suspension out of an 87 burb, with 2.5" spindles and 6 lug rotors.
@@cadilakisrodcustom whatever works best for you!
350 and automatic
Thanks for watching
Hi Travis, As you know I have reached out to you and Zach in the past about my 62, I've been waiting for this content since you told me you were going to do one. I've actually starting stripping the interior of mine Seat, wiring, heater, etc.and just decided to take the body off and do similar stuff to mine. Maybe not the PB way, $$$$ lol But who knows.. Ha ha Maybe we can get them done along side at the some time.
Thank you for this and looking forward to this build.
FYI, The only other 62 content that I know of using porter built is the guys at Salvage to Salvage YT channel using a Drop member and rear.half, laying frame...Good stuff

Awesome! That's why I'm showing both ways haha. Thanks for tuning in!

Thanks for watching
If that's the original motor it should be a 235 c.i. And the thing on the right side of the motor is a breather.
@@pete_apache10 thanks
Who came up with the patina look I would go a deep Brown & Cream on that truck patina to me is just rust not my cup of tea & also I would do a woodgrain & chrome bed & lower it with Brown & Cream interior.thats just me IJS.
I understand what you’re saying but to paint this truck right it would cost 40k worth of bodywork and paint. I’ll fix the rust spots and preserve the rest. It’s an acquired taste haha.
