To have captured this on tape is just astonishing. I've listen to and followed Duane for over 40 years, and wore out 3 Fillmore albums copying his solos. This solo is without equal. It's the best this man had to offer. To copy this , requires such an intense level of emotion and commitment that rarely can anyone pull it off exactly. Thank God for Duane Allman, his music is still having a profound affect on people 50 years later. As a very proficient guitar player, I can tell you that this solo is genius. No one sounds like this today. Duane's sound is just incomparable.

Neil Young said "24 and there's so much more." Can anyone imagine how much more of Duane there would have been after 24?

I wonder if Neil was thinking about Duane. I can't recall him ever saying.

Dickey Betts wrote a masterpiece. One of the greatest songs and greatest performances in rock music history. Listend to it hundreds of times since 1972 still not tired of it.

I am 67 this year, just thankful I was fortunate to have witnessed the original magic. Unless you where in attendance it’s hard to describe the excitement/bewilderment that fell over the audience. I met JFK on the Monday before Dallas, very similar feeling.

You can feel it increasing, only to accelerate more 1:42 to 3:14 then a profound slowing as they speak with no words to one another only through their instruments 🎶. 3:30 it intensifies again with a final surge as they ultimately lock together with precise perfection at 4:24 the guitars are guttural speaking to each other . Thank you Duane … thank you all brothers for your gift to us. I look forward to the reunion in heaven when we will all hear you play together once again . Rest easy 🙌

Frusciante didn’t like or probably even listened to the allmans. He liked Jimi because every guitar player on earth likes Jimi and Frusciante liked punk and other 80s rock bands because that’s when he was growing up learning guitar.
