I think the Emira might have given you an idea of what driving a manual F-type is like except for the shifter as it's a lot more polished on the F-type. Some Emira shifters are known for hurting the palm of your hand and I found it way too clunky. I had my eye on one but then found your channel, realised the F-type V6 was available with manual transmission and, given all the bad rap that the Emira gets online, I'm happy I went with the F-type. It's been a fantastic first year of ownership. Edit:234
234 looking at buying the AMG Emira, at the minute fantastic value but that shape is just phenomenal. Enjoyed the video hopefully you’ll get a chance to drive the AMG auto next.
There are a few Emiras on the market for a couple of reasons, mainly the state of the economy and interest rates so the cost of ownership has forced some to sell and used prices down, that's not just Emiras, Porches etc have all felt the pinch. A few issues have also not helped (paint bubbling on doors of some early cars and aircon resistors failing). However I'm 6000 miles and 14 months in on mine and love it. £60k ish for a lightly used example is a bargain. Supercar looks for sports car money.
Thanks for the video. First-time watcher. I have had an Emira for a little over a year; my first Lotus, and love it! (V6 Manual, Sport suspension). Just a wonderful handling and driving experience. I would say it is definitely perfectly fine for being a daily. I'm afraid I can't compare it to an F-Type, but for me the Lotus is just such a joy.
As another very happy F-Type V6S owner the Emira is one of the very few other cars that have tickled my fancy. I've seen some build quality and reliability horror stories about some Emiras though, which may be one of the reasons to why some people get rid of them. Maybe Lotus are just too small to keep up a consistent quality among the cars they produce. I would never dare to buy one without a long and solid warranty. Check out Harry Metcalfe's videos on how he got on with his Emira and why he ended up selling it.
I had a V6S and changed it for the Evora (the predecessor of the Emira. Same engine, same supercharger, very similar chassis, same brakes). The Lotus is much more a drivers car than the Jag. It’s more raw and doesn’t isolate you from the driving experience. The Jag is more refined and cultured, but the Evora makes me go out and drive it just for the hell of it!
I like road trips so I love the big boot and comfortable seats of my F-Type R V8 AWD 😁👍 Saying that this Emira sounds lovely (even if not V8 lovey) and I'm sure handles nicely
@@tootalltodrive saying that I'd love a real world road trip review to see how much people can fit in the Emira. It sounds like a nice alternative to the F-Type.

@@tootalltodriveJudging from online boards, many ordered based on looks and weren’t prepared for a “sports car”, and would have been happier with a GT style car. In today’s comfy world of SUVs and GT sedans, the Emira is a throwback, and that’s not for everyone.
I have the emira v6 manual in verdant green , tan leather and silver wheels, done 3,800 miles in 18 months, it’s a great occasion car definitely, not a daily. Track day was fun in it, next year will do a road trip….. jag probably much better daily, but when I drive the lotus, it puts a smile on my face. If I want to use as a daily, I’d go jag or more likely a cayman gts in PDK. Lotus just looks so magical for the price.
I wanted to love the emira, looks amazing but the new prices got silly and the used prices worry me. Have you had any issues? I went with a 981 S boxtser as I wanted a convertible and I can't imagine a better sounding mid engine v6, so happy for now
@@Jay-xr3sb not had many issues with it, may have been lucky. Apart from the radio not working, no other issues. Hopefully prices will stabilise after 3 years like other lotuses. Guess the car was launched 18 months too late and the cost of living crisis and high interest rates have taken a toll on the sales and depreciation. Problem with a lotus, it’s a nice to have accessory , but not a daily.

I have a RWD V8 R and the Emira is probable the one car that could tempt my out of the Jag. Obviously there are more expensive cars I would love but the Emira ticks the boxes for similar money.
I have a F-Type R and regularly drive a V6 Exige. The F Type is the perfect daily car with the Exige being more of an occasional car. The Emira seems to fit right in the middle of the two and I’m not sure I’d want to daily it. From what I’ve heard there have been a lot of minor issues with things like software and poor build quality. One owner has been back three times for software updates! Lotus are renowned for being pretty terrible at aftersales so this has probably frustrated people who are new to the brand, especially when the car is off the road for months at a time. From a price perspective they are getting very compelling and if they did a convertible I’d have one today! I am still very tempted and maybe in a year or so I’ll get into one. Lotus got so close and then snatched defeat from the jaws of victory 😔
Hi Will, as a fellow F-Type owner (which I love) I recently drove a friends Alpine A110 and have to say that it was a absolute revelation. It would definitely be top of my list of potential replacements should I ever part with mine. The seat can be adjusted (usually by dealer) to accommodate the taller driver. I'd be interested to know your views should you get the chance of a test drive... 234
Great looking car the lotus,i think if i was going to do a long trip then id take the f type ive always had lotus pegged as a B road blaster so whilst i love the look im not sure if i could live with one plus im getting older and getting in and out is probably harder than the f type.
Jesus wept, that was painful - have you ever driven a manual car before?
