    Wow, those prices and the waiting time! 😢 Sounds like the first dealership did not what they were supposed to do, very frustrating for you. I think, from my experience, it is always a hit or miss with this, Jaguar ones or independent. I had a lovely experience with an independent in Dublin for a very reasonable price and the same issue in Germany 2 years later for triple the price. But also Jaguar charged me 8 Euros to change the key battery once, lesson learned and they didn't find the fault with the exhaust. Two months later, after the issues blew up, another Jag dealer told me this fault must have been there a long time. Best of luck with the warranty! Hope you can get the car up and running again, such a shame.

    An additional comment that I made earlier, I must say that I totally love my F-Type. It’s a pre production car (built in 2012) and it’s a bit special. Firesand with carbon blades. So beautiful that my wife has now taken it for her own. To give you some idea as to what I think about the F-Type, I’m going to purchase another one, a coupe. Had one before when I was commuting weekly to and from Eindhoven and it was perfect. This time I’m looking for a 5 ltr one. So I’ll be 2 Jags! Just steer clear of the 2 ltr. That engine has probably led to the demise of the Jaguar brand.

    The centre vent issue is really a simple quick fix. It sticks because the design is poor using a plastic on plastic swivel without any lubricants. Mine has failed 3 x but now it’s out of warranty I simply fixed it myself. There are several TH-cam videos showing how to do this. Re the brakes, as someone has already commented, you can save a lot by buying genuine parts on eBay and either fitting them yourself or getting an independent to do it. I paid £300 for the fitting.

    I recently replaced the front brakes on my FType V6S and I found the parts (genuine) to be much cheaper on eBay. I picked the front discs, pads & wear sensor up for £400 and fitted them myself however a local independent specialist quoted £80 to fit them if I wanted. I’m happy to provide part numbers if required and the garage I use typically is Julian Ferraro Jaguar Specialist in Salisbury. Not that they need any further marketing but I have also used ModStock recently to replace the valves in my backbox as they were rattling (common issue). That alone cost £420 but I also opted for the mod for an extra £420 (which I’d 100% recommend) My suggestion would be to persuade Jaguar into fixing majority of the issues under the warranty such as Injector (especially!), heater vent, sensors etc then head to a specialist for the rest. Hopefully you’ll have a happy Jag back soon!

    After a very unsatisfactory visit to my local Jaguar franchise, with repeated visits not fixing issues, I found myself looking for a local independent, and found Powerbell Services in Taplow, a dedicated Jaguar independent. I was nervous of using an independent, but they have turned out to be totally first class, I have used them for the past four years now, from 25k miles to 70k miles, they are good at finding things, they are candid about what needs fixing and what can wait and what options are available (very helpful - most of us live within a budget!!) and they are good at fixing things. Result is the F Type starts fine, runs fine, and has never broken down - 71k miles and still amazing to drive.

    Hey Mate, sound like an injector failed on your original drive from the garage, they are prone to fail, just so happened on way from a service unfortunately. The injector will cause a lean or rich fault that the catalyst sensors will feedback efficiency fault to the memory, get the injectors done 1St then check the cat efficiency issues. The heater circuit faults will be the O2 sensors, they preheat the sensors to get them working quickly, there are 3 in each side or the exhaust totalling 6 and do fail regularly, especially if using pops and bangs a lot. The stuck valve at the back are prone to seizing, try soaking in penetrating oil for a bit and see if you can free it up, its on a pivot with a small vacuum diaphram operating it. Modstock do a repair for this backbox complete, exchange backbox. The stuck bolts at the back can be sorted by someone handy with vehicle / fabrication skills, tools, your biggest conundrum is the injectors causing the misfire and smoking, they are buggers to get out in one peice. I'd take it to an independent and they can assess if they need to call in an injector removal specialist. Plenty of knowledge on this if you search. I run a 19 plate v6s too, nothing worries me about the car as a lorry mechanic / technician, it's only an engine and body, but the injectors can be tricky and if broken, can lead to further costs of extraction or cylinder head removal if clumsy enough to snap then in the head. O2 sensors can be purchased from an auto factors and changed yourself with an O2 socket or a good mechanic, just cos it's a Jag, it's still only a petrol car. Hope this helps. Let's try and see if the community comes up with a good local indy for you who can ease your fears.

      Sounds like a need you on speed dial for when I next have a problem. I am hesitant about keeping the Jag after this. Do you think that’s fair, or after the repairs are done I should be good? Be interested to hear your thoughts

      @xl447 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @tootalltodrive Look mate, nothing in transport now is built to last. I say around 70 k miles on most brands is when you expect to start spending on items like perhaps cam chains, idler pulley bearings, egr valves and suspension bushes etc, it's just how it is and also can be a reflection of the life the car has in being driven, hammered, gentle, parked up for extended periods etc etc. Everything has a life and you need to appreciate you will need to spend 'some' money as the car ages and clocks up. Fair play to the new dealer taking on your car, remember they're limited to available skilled staff on shift, and what resources can be found to sort your car. Sometimes they're just snowed under with basic services and have only a couple 'really good' techs that sort the hospital jobs in turn. I'd like to see the JLR staff sort the running for you, which would involve the injectors if that's what they've diagnosed, (where I'd change the 3 on the side that failed) together and the 02 sensors. This will get the motor running well without the Mil lamp enough to make an educated guess to either stay there or get someone else qualified to do the work for you if not under warranty. Let's fingers crossed for a positive warranty story, mine is jlr approved warranty and it seems they prefer a full failure rather than a partial or intermittent issue to proceed with a claim hence why perhaps the first dealer didn't go further with your vent issue.

    Your front brake costs must include pads & discs, as I had a similar cost by a Jag main dealer a couple of weeks ago. They said mine were an "immediate" requirement. I got my local indie garage to check them over first and they couldn't find any problems! So I've left them as is. It's interesting that you are getting similar issues, their reputation is starting to come into question. By the way, my extended Jag warranty has a cost cap. Not sure if you have the same...

    • @tootalltodrive
      @tootalltodrive วันที่ผ่านมา

    From your description and the audio... It sounds like the engine was misfiring. The advice they gave you of carry on driving it was terrible advice! As it has a very real chance of causing detrimental damage inside the engine. My advice = if you experience obvious irregular engine noise / vibration / flashing lights / power loss... As instantly as possible slot it into neutral so its just rolling then press and hold that start/stop engine button to switch off the engine. Ensure the RPM guage has successfully gone to zero. Carefully roll to a safe zone baring in mind you may have reduced steering and brake assistance with the engine now switched off. It's a bit of a technique and you have to be quick with it but it may just save you alot of time on money on the engine. At this stage I'll be honest I don't know how their previous repairs would affect the engine running, they should be completely different areas of the car. Interesting watch 👍

    USA here. A year ago, I contacted my closest dealership to price a brake system flush and fill. My F-Type had 15,000 miles. The service dept. lady put me on hold. Eight minutes later she came back on the phone to tell me they would get back to me. They never did. I emailed them and told the dealership manager about the bad customer service I received. About a month later I got a coupon in the mail giving me 5% off my next service. Big deal. They already charge 50% too much. I'm now looking for an independent repair facility for my Jag. I would never consider another JLR vehicle unless they started using Toyota parts or get serious about the meaning of "service". JLR needs to make more simple vehicles with less expensive "junk" accessories and a simpler less expensive drivetrain to maintain. For what they charge new, a JLR vehicle should come with a lifetime warranty.

    That sucks, man. Being without the F-type now that the weather is decent is awful. Have you not got a decent obd reader so that you can do your own diagnostic? What about taking it to a Jag specialist instead? I've only had the car for 5 months but I've studied the forums enough to realise 1) jag dealer is good for annual servicing only, b) use a trusted independent specialist for repairs, c) an obd reader is a must (mine is the Topdon AD500S)

I had the premium cover level valid for 12 months set up by the dealer I bought the car from in December and it worked really well in this instance. Love your channel and have similar issues coz Im 6ft 5. But as you know a lot of this depends on where your height/length is. Mine is all in my legs; 36 inside leg, so some cars I can fit in and others not. So for example I can fit in an MX5 surprisingly about the same way you fit in that jag. But, heres a great suggestion for you which may turn out to be a great one for you. Have you ever tried a Lexus RC 300h coupe (hybrid), Lexus RC 200t (same but turbo not hybrid) or its V8 sibling the RCF coupe? If not you should. Legroom and fit and finish are superb, reliability is stellar, as is the legendary customer service. After Lexus Jaguar will seem like some bad rip-off nightmare from another planet. Service costs are about the same but they just dont break, so you wont be in and out of the dealership like with JLR. Add to that, the car looks classy, is quite exclusive and not common on the roads. Sonic Titanium, blue, and silver all look great colours for the model. But heres the absolute icing on the cake…. If you get your RC serviced by Lexus every year they will warrant it for another year up to 10 years old or 100k whichever comes first. So if you buy a facelift 2019 RC and let Lexus service it, its gonna be under warranty til 2029!!! NO OTHER car maker has so much faith in their cars to offer that kind of warranty! Its a no brainer. Its called Lexus Relax. Go check it out, and while yre at it go and YT or Google about the Takumi technicians who quality control those cars in Japan before they leave the factory. It makes the quality control of other car makers look like an absolute joke. Oh and if you fancy an SUV instead of a coupe try a Lexus RX or NX. RX is immense; V6 engine hybrid. Reliable as hell, comfortable as your home sofa, tech-ridden, mega reliable, and good to look at. Renders a JLR SUV like an Evoque completely irrelevant. All those models have great legroom. Great used buys, great value and hyper reliable. Good luck.

    Disgusting attitude that is common in Main Dealers throughout. We run an independent commercial vehicle workshop (truck & bus) and we'd have had a tech out to you immediately roadside or stayed open for an extra 1/2 hr regardless to get you back if you were our customer. As a tech, I'd be upset something went wrong or you were having trouble once you left the workshop, hey, stuff happens, whether related or not. I'm sure the JLR techs wouldn't have known about your breakdown unless told by service desk. These dealers are full of employees and managers who don't want to make a decision for another department. They just look after their own little area to keep the place running which doesn't help situations like these as there's no leadership, such as service, sales, parts. The poor service thay evening will be offset with a weak apology after you've lost time and money that could have been resolved by simply dropping the car back in for a couple minutes wait to ensure their customer and car was safe to be looked at following day or week etc. Yes, we need the dealers for warranty and certain defects, but it's all about the sale not the support and working together. Hope you get it sorted soon buddy.
