Why The 2023 F1 Season Was Better Than You Think!

  • So after all the domination from Max Verstappen throughout 2023, I think that we actually saw a decent season underneath Red Bull, in fact it was acceptable. We saw Alonso blasting onto the scene but then fading away which was followed by the rise of Mclaren after a dreadful start to the season. Mercedes and Ferrari each made very hard work for themselves, Alpine were Alpine and Williams made a big leap. As the 2023 F1 season came to a close I'm happy that it has done and look into what made it a fairly decent season.

Hamilton, Leeks and Herbert are all knobs, trying to hide the jealousy and obvious pro British bias that half the sport has, half of Leeks articles are about Hamilton and Mercedes, i thought he wrote articles covering F1 but i guess he just covers Mercedes now, the British F1 media are constantly in a circle jerk covering Hamilton and Mercedes, they constantly cry watching Max and Red Bull breaking records yet we never heard a peep from any of them when Mercedes dominated the sport for 7 years straight, and now after just 3 years they want changes because their favorite team hasnt won a race in over a year, yet Mercedes is technically German team, go figure, and if Mercedes isnt a German team then why did they play the German national anthem anytime they won?

Even though the results would suggest the season was boring there were a lot of great races, even plenty of the Races Max won were rollercoasters of a race. Just look at the sheer number of wet races and/or quali's we've had. They kept you on the tip of your seat for sure. It is so easy to just look at the result and say 'Max won again boring race' but that is just blind scoreboard commenting. It also makes Max' achievements even more incredible.

Mercedes, like in 2022, achieved podiums and points because nobody else besides RedBull (Max) was consistent. If Ferrari, McLaren and the rest had managed to perform better, I don't think Mercedes gets anywhere near as many points/results.

Im here a month late since this video dropped out😅 but, as an F1 first and as a Vettel and redbull fan second since 2011, I loved how max just dominated the entire season and just left the others to collect the scraps and dust on the way! But I really want checo to not only be a teammate to max but also to learn from max and from his mistakes as well, less dnf’s, closing down the gap to max and consistently being up there on the podium and most important win not only ‘a’ race but races also! I really want Lando to win his first F1 race😢 and I want Fernando to win his first after almost more than a decade and hope AM will give him a dominant car in order to do that❤ which would be too beautiful to witness! I agrée. Max was dominant and deserved his record breaking year but 2023 had a lot of really good racing (behind Max) and it was one of the most competitive years across the grid. The one thing that can make it better is tyre degradation improving. Pirelli need to step it up. If we can get closer racing because of less tyre deg it will get even better. Qualification this year was really good compared to Mercedes top years so I expect the racing to get closer in 2024 however Max may just be that much better of a driver that he gets another 10+ win season

I find it weird that people keep talking about Lando or Leclerc leaving their teams when Russell seems by far most likely. Mercedes have seemed almost antagonistic towards him this year, notably at Japan and Brazil where they sabotaged him just to keep Lewis ahead, and ended up losing points to Ferrari in both cases for it. Russell clearly doesn't have the loyalty to Mercedes (nor should he) that Leclerc has to Ferrari or even Lando to McLaren, yet I never see him in the usual talks about replacing Perez that Leclerc, Lando, and even Fernando and recently Lewis have been in.

Ferrari seemed to Ferrari a lot in 2023... Mercedes on the other hand seemed to have the worse drivers. At the same time, they claim to have a no blame culture and throw the engineers and the team under the bus. Toto wastes so much energy coddling Lewis. Driving worthlessly around the middle of the field in Abu Dhabi, Toto keeps radio'ing him "you are zee fastest kar on zee trek!" Paying the guy millions upon millions and seeing him drive around with as much effort as the 2022 Mercedes had sidepods should be highly aggrivating.
Don't worry about Max. Max 2024 is in competition with Max 2023. Records are on the table.

Geeeeee, listening to you I might wonder if what made Max win so many gp's this year while it been the closest year between drivers of all in time of the history in F1. It's Max who is just a bit better then everyone else. The cars are very close together performance wise. Perez proof this. So it Max who makes the real difference and make it looks like. That his dominance and won't go anywhere soon but F1!
And to add to this I also find you very objective. Which made me make this comment. There are just a lot of Fans of a particular driver, and the driver and the team princaple that sets a narrative that is just un true.
When cars get more closer in performance the more Max will keep on dominating this sport.

First, that season was quite enjoyable, even for non-Max fans.
Whether Ferrari have "finally found their man in Fred Vasseur" is up for debate. Yes, he did manage to calm things down somewhat after the turmoil of the last season but the car's performance this season was abysmal by Ferrari standards, clearly a step back and that is on him. They have caught up a bit alright but to a car that hasn't been developed since the summer? Whereas under Binotto last season they had race-winning car right from the start. No, I don't rate Vasseur at all.

It's a bit nonsensical to only focus on the win. Sure, this year was extreme Max domination, but the rest of the field has been incredibly close. F1 is a sport in which the drivers are 'car limited' especially close to regulation changes. I guarantee that next year it will be closer also at the front, but in a similar car Max will still crush his competition. Do you think when Usain Bolt destroyed his competition every single race his competitors gave up. You just fight harder and hope for circumstances which favor you.
