- Prawn here with a quick look at the Lian Li Edge Gold power suppply unit. This is a modular PSU which includes not only a USB hub (capable of connecting 7 devices to one USB port) but also a fan power hub too. It's also enough to power multiple devices in your build including the Nvidia 40 and 50 Series GPUs.
Highlights of the Lian Li Edge Gold includes braided sleeved cables with cable combs, thicker and more secure 12+4pin connector terminals on the 12v2x6 power connector, a convenient design for dual chamber cases and more. I'll be doing a wiring guide on this soon too so sub for that!

My EDGE 1300W Platinum is still in the box. However, after watching this video I decided to buy the PSU (Gold). Great information!
Glad I could help!
Just installed this PSU in my new build and it really is innovative and makes cable management much easier. I was already somewhat of a Lian Li fan since I had the OG o11DXL Rog Certified, but after building in the newer o11D Evo RGB and installing this PSU I've become and even bigger fan of their products.
It is good
Does it have hybrid fan like manny other PSU's or is the fan always on? Hows the fan noise.
@@brudel001 From the product page: "Note: The fan features a fanless mode, remaining at zero RPM during low loads for quiet operation." ... there is also a fan curve graph for each model listed... looks like on average, the fan kicks in after the PSU is pulling around 30%+ of max load.
I've got a 1300W Platinum myself, and I never hear the fan myself, even when it's running
Invaluable information! I'm working on this right now and found your video - thanks! Looking forward the the wiring guide :)
Thank you! I have wrote to you about this and I am very glad to see that you've actually done it! From my understanding the cables from this PSU compared to its brother "Edge Platinum", in my opinion, are a bit ugly (I am of course talking about the CPU cables) I would have preferred to have the previous set of cables (individually sleeved) that also come with the comes installed and you can get an identical look on MB/CPU/GPU connections rather than this, unfortunately with the previous PSU iteration you do not get this adaptor...
This hub is also sold separately... the part# is EG-HUB01B for the black version... EG-HUB01W for the white version... it is currently in stock at Newegg for $18 USD... I actually have the same PSU and the separate hub in my build right now
Thanks a lot! I thoight it is not sold separately as I have not found the part on lian li site separate
Another quality video... thank you! Just to add regarding the TL Controller... if you do connect the TL Controller to this hub, you can only have 2x TL LCD fans max on a port, if the hub is connected to your motherboard's internal USB 2.0 header. If you have at least one group of 3x TL LCD fans, you need to use the other cable that comes with the EDGE GOLD, which can connect to a USB-A 3.2 port in back of your case. (And has to be 3.2 [red or blue], not 2.0 [black]).
And thank you for mentioning that you can't connect the TL Controller to the first header on the hub. (Though not sure if you noticed... the video starts out with you actually connecting the TL Controller to Port 1).
So this hub is worse than the one on the platinum.
@@TheSjuris No... exact same rule applies to the one built-in to the Platinum
@ alas mine works perfectly in the second slot with 8 lcd fans.
Great video with outstanding commentary. 👍🏻
Thank you very much. 🙏🏻
I have the 1300w edge platinum version, which unfortunately comes with shorter cables than this one. Unfortunately, Lian Li does not sell the cables (from this Gold version) separately, which are a bit longer, if anyone was wondering...
On that same note... the 1300W EDGE Platinum has higher gauge cables than the lower watt models... there is a note on the product page to make sure that you don't use cables from a lower model on the 1300W version
Yeah, not sure why they aren’t even making a 1300w one in this gold version
The edge controller from the edge platinum multiplied to 7 devices and had that problem. The new one from edge gold can do 8, so all ports work.
Can also just buy the edge hub on new egg for any psu 😎
Thank you.
Any idea when these will be available in the UK?
I don't know exactly but you'll want Overclockers
www.overclockers.co.uk/lp/lian-li-edge-gold-psu
Excellent video as usual. I already have the Edge PSU, do you know if the USB hub can be purchased separately and added to the Edge PSU. Apologies if you covered it already.
Yes... this hub is also sold separately... the part# is EG-HUB01B for the black version... EG-HUB01W for the white version... it is currently in stock at Newegg for $18 USD
@MrDosArcade Thank you! You are a life saver
Thanks for sharing
i still cant seem to place an order on amazon for this grrrr
think its cus im outside of the US but ive been trying for nearly a month now 😂
I like the design of this quite a lot. Not a fan of it being (presumably) downgraded from Platinum to Gold.
I'm honestly very worried about the long term health of the connector with a 5090 though. Basically every review says most of the AIB models run at over 600 W, which is beyond the spec of that connector.
This is why I'm leaning toward the most efficient (and quietest, for my personal preference) PSJs you can find, like the Seasonic Prime Noctua Edition TX-1600 (if you could actually buy it at least) or the MSI MEG Ai1600T PCIE5.
Those models have two of the 12V2x6 connector, so I don't know why they didn't just put two connectors on the 5090 and divide the load. If you can afford a 5090 you can certainly afford a fancy PSU with two connectors.
Keep in mind that your GPU also gets 75W of power from the PCI-E slot, so your GPU actually has 675W available initially
@@MrDosArcade That's a good point, I forgot about that. Still seems awfully close to the power limit for my preference. But then, my PC makes the room hot now, I'm guessing the 5090 would make it like I had a space heater next to me lmao.
If you need 2 cables for the CPU and 3-4 for a GPU where do you get the Extra cable for plugin in the USB/Fan hub. It would be Nice if LIAN LI used the same venting grills from the power supply on their cases as 67% is better then
@@justatim8143 CPU and PCIe power cables are separate. There are four PCIe power cables AND the 12v-2x6 cable as well.
wow, nice....
Lian Li would release this right after I bought the 1300 watt Edge. Ugh, I’m not buying another one
This hub is also sold separately... the part# is EG-HUB01B for the black version... EG-HUB01W for the white version... it is currently in stock at Newegg for $18 USD... I actually have the same PSU and the separate hub in my build right now
Ty for saying this i was going to buy the 1300 also and didn't realise i can biy separately ty sir @MrDosArcade
So theoretically speaking whats the maximum amount of daisy chained fans with both fan speed and LED's on can fit on one fan control port?
I have one of these but the 1300 platinum version
Fancy
Damn. I want one but I just can’t justify shelving my Seasonic 😩
Wish they have these in 1500 or 1600watt to be able to handle the 50 series GPU.
You don't need that much.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Even for a 5090? I'm seeing they draw up to/over 600-625 watts. But it's kinda too late; I went for the ASRock 1650T, unless I return that. 🤔
You don’t need 1600w. Wtf are you running a fucking server? Lmao.
Singapore uses 3 pin plug too. Wondering where can i order these
actually just managed to order off of amaz sg today finally! so if you want it, give that a try~
Yeah most Lian Li products are not available in Europe. I just bought Montech Titan 1200W PLA.
You can get them via Overclockers or Caseking
@ Even caseking is out of stock. I just cancelled my bundled ordered and simply placed a new one for case to be delivered. Finally getting my 011 compact vision! For Lian Li fans/psu they had the initial expected in stock date of 07/Feb which now moved to 17/Feb. I will try the other place. I wanted to take this moment and say thank you! I never had an experience of someone interacting with their audience like you. You make it feel very personal. I have subscribed to your channel and it is pleasure to go through your content. A huge thanks from all of us!
Other than the detachable USB and fan hub, what other differences are there compared to the platinum version?
Longer cables, improved 12v-2x6 connectors, other features listed in description
I want to buy some lian li reverse blade infinity fans, but I can’t find any in stock in the uk? Unless I’m blind( black ones ). There are 3 packs for sale but they don’t look like the reverse fans as I will be using 6 intake and one exhaust.
Overclockers is your best vet
@ I’ll probe them to see when they get some back in stock as they are on pre order and I’ll be doing my new build hopefully next week or two. Cheers.
Why would they release their new model with more features gold when their old is platinum which is better right?
Same reason Corsair has different tiers of power supplies... different features for different folks... get the one that is "most best" for you... and noted in other comments here, they do sell the EDGE GOLD USB Hub as a separate device for $18... I'm currently running both the EDGE Platinum, along with the additional EDGE GOLD hub, due to the number of devices in my build
Because they can
Don’t plug aio lcd on first usb port as well?
As the USB for your AIO is only a single device (only one row of the plug has wires), you are okay to connect that to the first port
@ thank you
Cybernetics: Cons Not competitive overall performance
Mediocre transient response on all rails
Overpower Protection needs a lower triggering point at high temperatures
Not sure about the capacitor quality on its secondary side
Sup Shrimp? 😂
wooowwww
Lian Li turns out are thieves.......denied a brand new 2 month old 140 reverse fan warranty.
The fan died while they were on break, replaced it and they want a video of the fan in the case.
Proof of purchase be dammed.
Why is this much cheaper than the original non Gold Edge PSU?
Is it?
Platinum vs Gold, which might mean slightly different internal components... (kind of like Corsair RM vs HX)... the 8-pin EPS/CPU and PCI-E cables with the Platinum are braided/sleeved, while the Gold they are not... "much cheaper" though?... it seems to be only around a $20-30 difference, when checking Newegg
is something wrong with the video? i only get that hideous ai translation, no matter which audio-track i try to pick...
no one else has said such a thing
thought so, but still wanted to make sure... i just hate how youtube shoved that stupid ai translation into our faces at times...
Use none lian li fans.
