- Prawn here with a setup and wiring guide for the new Lian Li TL and TL LCD fans. In this guide I'm talking through all you need to know on these fans including connections and wiring of a few fans and enough to fill a case.
You can get these fans in 120 and 140mm variants, in white or black, with triple packs of the regular and reverse models available (for 120mm) and single packs too.
Other features include:
- 28 mm thickness for improved performance (but still work with standard radiator screws)
- 9-blade design with LCP design to cope with fast speeds
- Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) reinforced with copper shielding
- Cables that can connect at either end of the chain of fans
- Locking covers to protect otherwise exposed pins
- Daisy chain cables that allow you to connect upto 10 fans on a single controller port
- Large infinity mirror on the side of the frame with diffused RGB lighting and 26 LEDs per fan
- Different fan groups can have different speeds in L-Connect
- Both TL and TL LCD fans can be added to the same controller
- 21 different lighting effects
LCD versions feature:
- 1.6-inch LCD IPS display with 400x400 resolution
- Can display CPU temperature, CPU load, GPU temperature, GPU load, and fan speed
- Or Gif, MP4, JPG and PNG files
- Display can be rotated in the software and have hardware lighting set
- Apparently up to 7 LCD fans (3+3+1) and 10 regular TL fans can be connected to the same controller.

I just finished building my Lian Li system with the help of your tutorial videos. I could not have done it without them, so huge thank you!
Glad to help! Enjoy
Great tutorial as always.. Your my go to for my builds.. I've learned so much.. Thank you and Merry Xmas 🎄
Awesome! Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too 🎄
I m so happy! They r release reverse 140mm fans for TL series
The plot thickens further when you add their Gallahad II LCD and/or Infinity SL fans to the mix. The infinity fans (which have a better center hub look than the TL series in my opinion) have a different set of connectors, so no mixing and matching there, and can't be daisy chained like this. The radiator, depending on which version you get (like the 280mm) uses yet ANOTHER kind of fan, with its own unique connector. So if you want to try to get all of these things to play nice with one another you're looking at plugging in 2-3 hubs (power and USB 2.0 headers), plus a variety pack of wiring to get each fan group back to the controller. Obviously it's a little easier if you just go with one type of fan for the entire case, but where's the fun in that?
This is the issue I have with Lian Li. They create all those cool products...that can't be used with each other lol, even the 1st & 2nd gen SL fans aren't compatible
Exactly. I have SL Infinity Fans, A Gallahad 2 and Strimers and will be replacing 3 of the SL Infinity Fans with 3 of these new LCD fans but gonna have fun trying to figure out the wiring and room for extra controller, USB etc..
L-Connect in general has so many issues with it and the fact they even released the TL fans before ironing out the issues with the software is beyond me.
Yeah it’s just mental. I’ve decided to forget about those beautiful infinity fans and stick with the regular TL ones (at least they have the infinity effect on the sides). And I’ll use the TL LCD fans with the fans on the Galahad II for a push/pull intake, and the TL LCD fans for rear extract (Vision case).
Not me looking at this and realizing my new setup is just as you described xD
Many thanks for this explanation video 👍🎄🧑🎄
Merry Christmas!
God your videos are just awesome, the editing, the sound quality, the clear explanations, the smooth voice coupled with the british accent 🥵, i love your work and you’ve helped me so much for my first build ! Thank you ! I was wondering though if i used the galahad lcd 2 aio in my system with 3 lcd fans and the rest being sl infinity fans would i use the galahad controller or would i need a different one ?
You could use the Galahad controller assuming you have single pack fans with the two cables and you use the adapter. I think I showed it in my Galahad 2 LCD setup guide?
8:35 thank you for pointing that out i was wondering if there is a special 6 pin PCIe lane for that
Nice video, I have a question for the setup I’m going to use. I’ve bought 3 inverted TL-140 mm which I’m going to use as intake on the bottom with the interlocking mechanism. My question is: can I then daisy chain this cluster with a 120 mm (so not 140!) TL NOT inverted fan which I want to use as exhaust on the rear? So basically a cluster (with interlocking) of 3x140mm inverted daisy chained with a single non-inverted 120mm fan
Can you daisy chain the 120 mm fans to the 140 mm fans? Keep up the great content!!
I'm really hoping for a 140mm 3pack in the near future, too bad they didn't release that option from the get go... :(
Hello there, nice video, i actually have a question, i have rog b550F gaming wifi motherboard wich have 1x argb connector, is it enough for 3x 3pack will be working that lighting ? Thanks for answer.❤
So what I’m planning is to use the O11 Evo Xl with the Corsair ICue Link AIO and 3 Corsair fans on the bottom and then 3 of the LCD Lian Li fans on the side in reverse for a very clean looking system. Should be a relatively easy installation shouldn’t it ? Just the two connectors ?
Thanks!
Good day. Perfect video and perfect explination. I just have one problem, my reverse blade do work and i cant understand why. 😢 Can you put REVERSE BLADE and NORMAL blade in one controler? And should that controler be plug in straight to POWER SUPPLY? Please waiting for answer 😊
Yes you can
I have bought two Infinity Lian Li fans and they both came with the standard cable, one connector for PWM and one for the ARGB which get plugged into the motherboard or a generic controller. I want to get a 3 Pack LCD set. Will the set include a cable which I can connect for my existing fans into the controller or only the 3 pack Infinity Fans come with the cables which go into the Lian Li controller?
Is it right that the bios fan control is only a DC not pwm? Because the fan connector only got two pins 🤔
Hello great video! But I was curious, if i do not have a hub for the Lian li Infinity, can i connect the infinity's to the Controller Hub of the LCD's? Or do I have to get another Hub for the infinities? But awesome video!
I've not tested so can't say. But usual Lian Li says not to use different fans with different controllers
Hello. I have a question: My power supply has several 6-pin SATA/PATA connectors. Is it possible to connect the UNI FAN TL controller to those inputs or should I connect it to PCI 8-2? Thank you.
Brilliant video, thanks for creating! Now I just need somewhere to get the controller in stock as a standalone item as I only want 140s and they don't seem to do a triple pack with the controller :(
Yeah sadly they won't sell 140s that way
@@TheProvokedPrawn seems a bit silly when you can put 9 of the damned things in the Evo XL.
Can you mix different lian li fan models to one hub. I have a build I’m making that uses the lcd fans and the infinity glass fans
Can I use SL-Infinte fans on my radiator AIO then use LCD on the side and SL-Infinite on the bottom? So I’ll essentially need two controllers? 1 for the LCD and 1 for the 6 SL-Infinite fans.
Hi there! Can you help me… I have 2 LCD fans + 1 HUB
Connected all 3 cables, the USB cable from the hub to motherboard, RGB to motherboard , & 4 pin fan cable to motherboard. Also connected the Pcie cable from hub to PSU.
Results: Fans are spinning, RGB is lightning but I can’t control them in the program.. everything is just blank. Can’t change color , fan speed or pictures on lcd.. nothing is showing up.. what did I do wrong?
Merry Christmas pp
Too kind Meaty, thank you
Hey i really enjoyed the detailed explanation, I just finished my new build and have installed 9 Tl fans on my pc, 3 lcd on the side 3 tl led at the bottom and 3 tl led at the top, so i replaced the standard fans that came with the lian li galahad lcd aio with 3 tl fans instead and connected them into the controller, so i am using 3 ports, however the three top fans are not lighting up or showing as connected in the software but they are spinning and working, on the l3 connect software it shows port 2 and 3 fans which are the ones at the bottom and the lcd fans on the side and it also shows the aio too. i been trying to find out why this is and i have checked everywhere but im not sure why this is the case, any information or help would be appreciated so much 🙏🏻
I think port #1 must be LED all others can be LCD.
So for the O11 config I have the Galahad 2 lcd but want this new system how many fans or packs would I need outside of the 3 pack lcd reverse ones?
Question regarding the 10 fans on a single port, then using a SATA connection. Would it be possible to put 6 intake fans on one port of the controller, then 4 exhaust fans on another port of the controller to remove the need of the sata cable?
same question. Is the Sata only needed for a large group ? I plan to do 3 TL Fans (port 1) 3 TL fans port 2, 2 TL LCD port 3 and 1 TL LCD port 4.
I was considering these fans but I would need to change my case (h6!flow) since the connector would cause problems with the fitment.
I had that problem with thermaltake swafans. Ended up having to connect both 140s at the bottom separately. And remove the rubber grommets. Took it a step further got rid of the H6 and got a evo RGB and these fans😅
So is it at 10 fans per link for the sata connection too? Can i get away with 8 with out the sata for the one part?
Is there a way at that I can utilize my SL infinity fans with TL lcd fans? On separate hubs of course in my pc.
Thanks for your recent videos on the Lian Li releases. Really useful. I have a few questions leftover after watching them. Perhaps you could answer or maybe even pull together a FAQ. Here goes... What's your thoughts on SL INF vs the new TL and TL LCD fans? I think you mentioned in another video that you preferred the INF fans, but what's your reasoning? It also looks like the AIOs only come with INF fans, is that right? I'm assuming you can swap out the fans on the AIO if going for the TL fans but seems wasteful. Would also like to hear your take on 120 vs 140mm in the 011D Evo RGB. I'd imagine it might look quite squashed and cant imagine the airflow/sound would be improved that much for the aesthetic sacrifice.
That's a lot of questions 🤣 I prefer the look of the infinity fans personally, though the TL fans are technically superior (I believe) specs and performance wise, though I'm yet to test it. You can get the Galahad 2 LCD with or without Infinity fans and yes you can swap them for TL, I have here and it's easy enough to do, you just use the TL controller and then set L connect for the fan speed relevant to the CPU temp. Thanks for the super thanks and Merry Christmas
Oh and as for 140mm I'm not sure as I only used 120 but generally 140 fill the gaps more nicely and can cool better without spinning as fast. So they're preferable. Look at the bottom and top fans in the Evo XL in my Vs video and you'll see the difference
@@TheProvokedPrawn 😂 Haha, sorry! I just discovered your channel and had a bit of a binge watch. Thanks for the thorough answer & Merry Christmas!
@@damon7224 watch away 👍🏼🦐
I have (7)120mm AL fans and (2) 140s, all connected to a hub. I am considering upgrading the 140s and possibly one of the 120s to the new LCD models. I am guessing I will have to upgrade my hub, but will the new hub be able to support the existing 120 AL fans as well as the new LCD 140s?
No. The TL hub only support the new TL series fans. So you can't (sadly) mix and match them.
It seems it is not possible to let nzxt cam control the TL fan speeds. I plugged the pwm cable from the lian li controler into the kraken elite pwm splitter, but it doesn't allow Nzxt cam to read or set rpm. Can you confirm or in i doing something wrong?
Your the best
Thanks. Hope it was helpful
Hey mate, my LConnect 3 programme doesn't show the TL fan utility, but it shows SL instead. how can i fix this?
Is there a major difference in performance between the TL and SL 120mm Infinity fans? Or are they just maybe 1-2 degrees off? I like the looks of the SL, but if the TL perform better at a lower noise level, might be worth going for.
Specs wise I believe they are superior but I haven't tested for a thermal performance comparison
I have EK CPU RGB 3 pin, can I connect it to Lian Li Controller TL series?
How do these fit with the cable side on the fittings end of a radiator on a custom loop? Will the plastic wire end collide with the fittings?
They can be connected on either end.
Have you made a video that includes the aio into this build ?
Sort of th-cam.com/video/LZz2uhZAWzU/w-d-xo.html
If you do use the motherboard sync feature for either or both rgb and fan control, do you need to keep the software running in the background or can you set it up once then shutdown l-connect and not have it run anymore?
You shouldn't need it. Though you probably will for the LCD ones
I noticed with one model connected 7 fan , when ever it load to window one lcd turn off
New PC build here. Any idea why my 7 TL LCD fans don’t spin on start up, and does not show any RGB.. the only thing it does is turn on all 7 lcd screen. (New build so I do not currently have L connect if that matters. Just figured the standard rainbow rgb, and fans should be working instantly)
Does anyone know, if I buy a 3 pack of 120 LCDs for my Gallahad 2 Rad, can I put the default 120mm Infinities and the LCDS on the same controller? I thought I heard you couldn't but I'm not sure, anyone? Thanks a lot.
Stupid question but are the LCD screens controlled by L-connect too snd if so is there an alternative software that can control tje LCD screens?
I have 2 groups of 3 120 inf's and 2 separate hubs for each group anf and I am using signal RGB, I was thinking of getting one of the LCD fans but if I need to use L-connect then I am afraid it will conflict with signal RGB
Signal RGB bitches about any other RGB process that is running , si would it be possible to control the LCD screen without using L-connect?
What should I do if both my usb header slots are being used? You recommend a splitter if so any certain brand?
th-cam.com/video/d8vELbWWaCQ/w-d-xo.html
I’m so confused, which doesn’t take much these days. I have 8 Lian Li infinity fans currently, I want to swap 3 of these with 3 Lian li LCD fans. I also have 2x strimmer (motherboard and GPU cables). So would I now be having to use 3 separate control boxes?
I’m sorry if this is a stupid question.
Loving your work, learning lots weekly from you, thank you.
Yeah you'd need three controllers sadly.
@@TheProvokedPrawn thank you. I’ll order the triple pack lcd fans today and maybe bump my psi from an 850 to a 1000w. Overclockers don’t have the triple packs in stock atm any other vendors you’d recommend?
@@weaselinjeans1 they do? tidd.ly/3RQi2Wv

@@TheProvokedPrawn Cheers. I had the exact same Question and have the same scenario where I am going to swap out 3 of the SL Infinity fans for 3 of the new Reverse Blade LCD ones, and I also have a Lian Li Galahad AIO and Strimers as well so time to play Tetris with the Controller Boxes I guess..
Did you switch out the SL-inf fans for the radiator and replaced with the TL fans?
Yes but only to make them match the rest. You don't have to.
This may sound like a stupid question but I’ve ordered 10 TL LCD fans, 6 reverse, 4 normal. Does this mean I’ll just need two controllers to power them? Or am I going to experience issues with not having enough slots on the motherboard?
You can only use 7 max per controller. So yes, you'll need two controllers and probably a USB hub as well.
Is the Sata only needed for a large group ? I plan to do 3 TL Fans (port 1) 3 TL fans port 2, 2 TL LCD port 3 and 1 TL LCD port 4.
Sata port is only necessary if you daisy chain 10 fans on one port.
I’m new to building so I’ll need a PCIe 6+2-Pin Connector free for its power? My PSU has 4 if so so I’ll be good if that’s it
Yes
I bought the o11 dynamic evo rgb and im a bit confused now.
So is it correct to buy 6 reverse ones and 4 normal ones?
That is logical, yes
I've always wondered after watching videos about the TL LCDs.
Would using the old Lian Li UNI SL INF fans with these LCDs be a weird match? In my opinion the regular versions are kind of meh, I'd rather the infinity fans, but I'd want the LCDs. Great video btw
I'm in this same boat. I massively prefer the infinity centerpiece to the centerpiece on these fans.
yeah INF have better center, but then TL have better sides, INF blade is better tho...it may be also a brightness diferences in the two. There are people reporting that.@@sir_numbskull
Same. the Inf fan are much better looking. the blades them selves light up. these don't and no mirror in the middle. wtf ugly.
@@hassans3426 that’s because they want you to use the lcd screen ones on the fans that face you.
If I want 3 120 tlc lcd, 1 140 tlc lcd fan and the rest uni infinity mirror fans I need to hook them up over two separate controllers right ?
You might be able to use the TL controller but unfortunately I've not tested. So yes, you might need two controllers. Alas I don't know for certain. I need to investigate.
@@TheProvokedPrawn there’s a different power requirement for the infinity fans and the tl. The infinity fans need a lot less power hence the use of double sata connectors while the tl need an actual psu cable. The LCD screens need more power than leds need and I doubt that Lian Li wanted to use usb power for that.
Can I avoid using L-Connect entirely by connecting the fan header and ARGB headers? And if so, would I be able to avoid connecting the controller it to a usb header?
Yes but not for LCD fans
@@TheProvokedPrawn Awesome thanks. And your videos are great. I ordered 2 of the triple packs (non LCD). They're on backorder everywhere so I won't get them until Thursday. I've never done an RGB build and I feel weird about having a lot of software running to maintain it all. I have a ASUS Z790-E MB with 3 ARGB headers and I was hoping to let the MB handle everything.
So I already have my case front headers into one USB and a lian li hub from my trinity AIO in the other. Each requires a USB slot on the mobo so I am out now. How do you remedy this?
Lo solucionaste?
Why is my fan screen is not showing like yours? I cannot change the screen display
The lighting of my lcd fans were working at the beginning, but after installing and updating l connect, my lcd fan color stays in the same static white color.
I can change the displayed image, but not the rgb lighting.
And after restarting my pc, the option to change one lcd display is gone in l connect.
Do you know what the problem could be?
I think i wired everything up correctly:
Power cable -> pcie 6 pin
Usb -> usb slot
3 pin argb -> argb slot
4 pin -> cpu fan slot (because my lcd fans are my aio fans)
Are the LCD fans connected to slot one on the controller? Because apparently that can be an issue
@@TheProvokedPrawn
Thank you for your help!
I changed from slot 2 to 3 and it worked
is there any diferences in led brightness between TL and INF?
Not sure but the INF looks way better imo with the infinity mirror in the middle
I'm not sure specs wise. And I haven't compared psychically, so I probably should when I can
Any reason why when I connect my controller to the USB header the fans don't come on? Do I need to configure something in L-Connect3?
Have you plugged in the power cables too
Yes, the fans all work without issue up until the point I connect it to the USB header on my motherboard. The motherboard has 3 USB 2.0 headers and I have tried all of them
Im using Lian Li infinite fans in my H6 Flow. Lol yes on the angle side. So the infinite is not visible 😢
Try these instead th-cam.com/video/JxhIPQJlZ2E/w-d-xo.html
I actually wondering that how can you connect TL fans while it don’t have wire to plug in CPU pins for AIO fans
The Galahad ii lcd version doesn’t plug into the fan controller so it doesn’t need matter what fans you use.
Btw the lightning is out of sync when the connector is connected with the side with the little knobs to daisy chain the fans.
I have an Evga psu , can vga cable be used as pcie ???
Probably
1 pack does not have CONTROLLER, can it use L-connect 3 ?
Only compatible with 12TL Fan Controller.
I like icue link better just because the lights are visible with the fans. I would have bought Lian Li, but the lights are just on the sides
Have you seen the infinity fans?
Can you LCD fan to a non LCD fan all TL and still work?
Yes
Just and FYI, please remember you can plug the controller into the power supply direct. Do not get upset if you have a 3 pin GPU.
What?
@@TheProvokedPrawn my gpu requires 3 plugs. I have a EVGA 1000w power supply. I have an extra port. So i am able to run the vga cable direct from the power supply to the lian li controller.
@@Bachagaloop well yes, it's fine then but not if you don't have the cables or ports spare.
I used up all my pcie connectors already. Guess I can't use the fans.
That's the rub
Why cant you get an adapter? pcie to molex or pcie to sata.
Hi Provoked and all, so if i got this right.. i can buy 2 3ple packs of TL NONE LCD + 1 Single, all chained, and use the PCI cable to power those 7 via sata.
Get 1 3ple LCD pack, chain and connect to another port.
All on the same controller?
So I wouldnt be using the 2 usb ports on the MB, as i will only be using 1 controller, or better to use another controller just for the LCD ones and not overwhelm the first controller?
Soo noob on the pc build field.
Thanks.
Idk why they didn't make a triple pack for 140mm... That REALLY urked my nerves when I bought these... I'm building in the Lian Li Evo RGB case and I've got 10 Lian Li TL fans, (1 of which is 120, the rest are 140mm, and 3 of them are 140mm LCD versions) I had to buy all 140mm fans individually then individually buy the Lian Li TL Controller... Why not just make the 140mm in a triple pack? I genuinely do not understand this nonsense..
I hate that i got lian li fans they are making it so complicated and adding even more wires i shouldnhave juat the corsair link icue stuff
Hopefully I helped
So 10 fans per port? With 4 ports that means 40 fans. That don't make no damn sense!
No. There's still a max of 16 if I recall correctly
@@TheProvokedPrawn Thank you for responding. I'm trying to connect lian li infinity fans (triple pack) to my Gigabyte 4090 Waterforce. I swaped the fans, but there is a daisy chain cable that seems to be hardwired to the gpu. I am unsure how to proceed with hooking them up. Any insight?
