I never seen a more engaging tv-show and which also happen to be in my favourite genre; sci-fi. BSG plays on so many strings within me. Some seasons I cheered for the humans, cause their struggle and being reduced to a population of just 50.000 people, but later my symphaty for the cylons increased, especially some fractions of the cylons I wanted to succeed. And the role of Dr. Gaius Baltar, I mean what a performance from actor James Callis, it must be given credit as one of the best roles in tv history. I loved the man, with all his faults and egotrips, his journey and character development was spectacular. Also I must mention XO Saul Tigh, played by Michael Hogan, that poor man went through hell during the series and despite all his struggles he come out as a good man and accepts his fate, despite all the horrors he has to endure. Also strong roles from all of the cast, I can't think of any that did not fit into the story or felt badly casted. The story of artificial intelligence has fascinated since the Dune books and early sci-fi books from the 50s and outwards. Its taken a new meaning now in current times where we see more and more artificial intelligence take over the roles of human labor. And there are speculations, som say predictions, there will be a time where the development of AI one day will evolve into sentient beings, which will create a moral dilemma for humankind: Will we embrace them - and more important will they embrace us, as their creators OR revolt. So in that sense BSG is right on spot, it deals with this and we get back to the old saying they often repeat: All of this has happened before - and it will happen again... and again... and again... The show made me stand up in the seat, sometimes cry, often laugh, I felt for the characters as they were parts of my own person. It does not happen often that a tv-series gives me so much as BSG did. Too bad it was not more succesfull than it was. The CGI graphics was next gen. The way the ships went into hyperdrive, is the closest to how I imagine such a technology would work. The explosions were amazing to watch. It was a fireworks at times. Star Wars and the other sci-fi films and tv-series can just wish they were able to do it so well as BSG (2) did.

I love the design of the new Cylon Ships, the new Base Stars remind me of the Shadows Capital Ships. The raiders look impressive enough to take on anything from Star Wars or Star trek too.
Bob Dylan actually wrote "All Along the Watchtower"; Jimmy Hendrix made it part of rock and roll history on his seminal "Electric Ladyland" album. Godspeed to all BSG fans...
Yes Dylan wrote it - and performed it (badly) so when other bands did covers of it, that made the song famous. Especially Hendrix version is legendary, with the improvised guitar solo, that Dylan did NOT write, sure he made the doll, but it was Jimmy that made the doll dance.
Guess that remake caprica wasn't that good? Never bothered checking it out, loved the original cast far too much to invest in a whole new group of characters..
The Chopping Block Ditto. Best part of Epi1? Preparing to airlock death out of Ceres station. Ok, that was just alright. But I really like the world they have created for this universe. The pidgin, the changes in anatomy due to low G, the changes in culture system wide. It's a great place to tell stories. here's hoping this stays as good as the first few episodes.
I admit that I watch way too TV and most of the time, sure, stuff happens that's "OK". But this scene was truly epic and is something I will never forget. I love how they tied the song into what the final four were hearing and then finally, we get to hear this amazing rendition of All Along the Watchtower via this epic battle scene. Again, truly epic.

Matt Bates Farscape comes a close 2nd for me though. Was a frelling shame that it never got finished the way it should have thought with a complete final season.

Well edited video bro, really really good job. Always loved this song, find it kinda cryptic and catchy as hell. This show just had the atmosphere, the drama, the acting, the battle scenes and the right amount of emotion. Never have I found or seen another show that's had such a profound impact.
It took me a while to get around watching it. I kept avoiding it because I don't like remakes but once Adama got the first reports of the cylon attack, that was it I was hooked. BSG and farscape have to be the best shows of the last decade. Thanks for watching...;+)
+Dusty Sweeper It took me a while too, I saw previews when it first air but never got to it. Few years later I downloaded the whole lot in HD and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's one of the few remakes that far surpassed the original in every criteria. Farscape is just fantastic. A few years ago I built my own DRD which I have lying around somewhere! Watched the entire BSG series including Razor, but never seen the beginning battle, it must be from The Plan. Haven't seen that one yet. Awesome video. 10 thumbs up!
Dusty Sweeper I bought The Plan, love it! I like how it shows Anders and his team up in the mountains and just how much the Cylons had infiltrated in the colonies. It does fill in some of the beginning blanks. They should do something on the Final Fives' journey from Earth to the Colonies.
All this has happened before and will happen again... Music eventually comes full circle. The final scene took place on human Earth (not Cylon earth from earlier in Season 4) in a time frame close to our present. This scene used Jimi's version.
@@drx1xym154 Except the norse are technically more advanced as they had mines for metal and experience making tools with primitive techniques and low quality materials. What we got in the show was thousands of people, most of whom have probably never even gone camping and likely none of them have experience living off of the land with absolutely no long term access to modern tech such as lighters, medicin, fabrics and weapons. They are looking at a stone age era hunter gatherer style existence with no experience in how to do so and survive.
I didn't watch it for about 10 years because I thought it wouldn't live upto my childhood memories of the original series. But as soon as I watched the pilot episode I was hooked.

The only thing I would've changed would have been a slightly longer war between the two. More action scenes. Why go to all the effort of making the Cylon raider so awesome for it to barely feature. Still great series and the way it ended.
Actually that isn't all that bad of a beating. The large guns shoot explosive ammo an a surprisingly low velocity. And HE explosives are not very effective in space.

Final attack , before they jump towards the 13th planet Earth with the coordinates that "the angel" Starbuck inputs into the jump drive (coordinates that are based on the notes of this song !!!)
THAT sounds like a job for the folks at "FREESPACE 2 Open"--but yeah both you and me would either love a 1st Cylon War campaign or an 'alternate history' where the Colonial fleet manages to get the better of 'The backdoor virus' and the survivors fight a war of attrition against The Cylon Attack Fleet, trying to gain the upper hand and rebuild their strength.

Baltar designed a huge software program for the colonial military, he let "Caprica 6" help him with it and she inserted a backdoor which allowed the Cylons to turn off the entire fleet as they engaged.
two things: First My God that is a SHITLOAD of base stars; second: I ididn't know that a base star could change the alignment of the upper & lower hulls.

@@dustysweeper that is the middle east, you get a perfect view of it at exactly 23 seconds in. I can see turkey, Iran and other countries that are part of the Middle East. At 23 seconds I can see the Persian gulf. So either caprica has a part perfectly identical to the middle east or that's our earth

Yip quite correct, The Plan tells the Story from the Cylon perspective, and fills in some of the blanks for fans.

two things: First My God that is a SHITLOAD of base stars; second: I ididn't know that a base star could change the alignment of the upper & lower hulls.

im really confused because thats earth (not cylon earth), and the cylons didnt attack our earth in the show (you can see the middle east 20 seconds in)

@@dustysweeper that is the middle east, you get a perfect view of it at exactly 23 seconds in. I can see turkey, Iran and other countries that are part of the Middle East. At 23 seconds I can see the Persian gulf. So either caprica has a part perfectly identical to the middle east or that's our earth
