Michael Hogan's mind "Frak," so captured a Timothy Leary vibe to go with that scene. His interpretation of hearing music, Katee's authority over its creation, brought context of archetype in their portrayal. Bear McCreary breached time.
The song: great. Katee's smile: beauty in it's purest form. That dude freaking out violining: He rocks so hard and all along the watchtower, we'll never get on his level.
I'd had a fellow geek friend that I'd tried to get into BSG with me but he did not bite. Rewatching before season 4 came out, I realize this song might be the thing that did it. I gave him no context, just showed him the final scene with this song playing and all the craziness that went down. Did the trick and we powered through all series together and finished just in time for the start of s4. Magical song, still gives me chills, there's something about the repeating melody - that bass that just touches *something* in the soul.

Eventually youtube was created to behold and sustain this masterpiece for ever !
When this song came on, on the last episode I believe, as a huge fanatical Dylan fan I was blown away and this rendition is phenomenal as was the series!!!!!!

I don't know how the planet did not crack in half at the raw nerd power on stage - and if it had, I'd have been completely fine with it. Just awesome.
I think I've only seen bootlegs of this before! Brings me right back...
Just listened to Bear on The Sackhoff Show podcast. Had to find and listen to this again. Instant chills. What a performance!
I will forever regret not getting to one of these concerts while they were still touring.
I'm so glad I got to see this performance in person. It was frakking amazing.
this song has motivated me, pulled me out of the hole and prevented numerous ...uh...attempts......so many times
15 years later and still stuck in my head to this day. So say we all.
This song just never gets old. I still listen to all of the BSG music often. Best frakking music ever!!
omg are we finally getting good audio of the live concert performances?!?!
There's an album, if you haven't already heard about it since this comment. It dropped last week 🤗
@@nic.prov1 Neat
I wish I could like this more than once.
I wish there was a 'love' button for this video.
Phenomenal.
I wonder if the musicians are also die hard fans of the show? Would explain the passion, especially the violinist, damn!
Black former cellist and pianist. Hendrix version tattooed on forearm
This performance had the energy of a metal concert, I love it. And gives me total chills again. I can't wait to rewatch the part where this song came up in the show
You, sir, are a savant. This is glorious.
I was fortunate enough to see a live performance in LA in April of 2008. It was fraking AMAZING!!!!! Especially the fiddler. Dude has so much energy!
Bear posted this at the end of a blog post way back then:
PS: Big thanks to all the fans who turned out for the massively successful Music of Battlestar Galactica concerts at The Roxy this week! There’s nothing like hearing 500 people chanting “SO SAY WE ALL!” I’ll post some multimedia highlights soon. Also, if any of you got any decent video footage or photos and want to donate them it would be greatly appreciated.
If they release a BluRay of the concerts, I will totally be buying it.
Amazing seeing Katee Starbuck Sackoff playing the watchtower
I got chills and tears as the memories of sitting the series came flooding back listening to this... So say we all and with the exception of the expense with never had a serious come even close to this kind of quality in years ., and the music and the music itself is priceless it's it's own character
AMAZING to see Johnny Vatos Hernandez and Steve Bartek in this. Now I know why I love it so much! I'm a long-time Oingo Boingo fan!
I love this song and always cry through it, it's because I know that the song actually brings them to earth, it just makes me cry. I don't know what Starbuck was, I don't know what happened to the cylons, the ending was beautiful in an unsettling way. I wish there was a bow , but there's not . Pres Laura Roslin's death was so tragically sad, and beautiful... I try not to think about it too much because it'll make me cry. Like right now.
One, if not the best piece of music from the best soundtrack, to the best sci-fi show ever.
hats off to whoever mixed this. this is the most incredible live mix I've ever heard
I can't stop watching this!
The violinist was LIVING IT!
Also did I just saw Tina Guo on the cello? :o
There are two cover versions that surpass the Master Hendrix: Gary Moore's Red House and Bear McCready's All Along The Watchtower. BSG was peak-tv. This is incredible.
it was so perfectly build up in the show, and the masterpiece itself. give me chills everytime.
A very thought provoking series indeed!
The creation of Artificial Intelligence and how it turned on and nearly destroyed humanity.
Wonderfull cast, Thank You!
Bear McCreary you and your music has changed my life. This is pure joy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So say we all.
One of the best climatic scenes of the series, and of all time.
