- This isn't click bate. I actually installed cruse control in my 2003 M1078 LMTV.

LMTVs have cruise control standard. To engage it, you wedge your M4 between the seat and the gas pedal.
Keeps it close at hand also:)
I have the older model where cruise control comes standard too. It is the lever on the right side of the dash. The brake doesn't disengage it so much as "override" it...
@@elgoogsucks9005 that would actually be easy to fix. Small air cylinder and solenoid valve connected to the brake light circuit. Retards the hand throttle when the brake lights activate...
@@rronmar that is more elegant than my current work around which is to pull up on the steering wheel and push down on the brake as hard as i can. : )

pin # 59 - Cruise control on/off switch

Pin # 44 - Resume
Pin # 45 - Service brake pedal position switch (you did not need to splice in your situation
as you did not need anything, just a few Deutsch connectors, some wiring, and LED light.
you can easy to remove the connector from the plug, just need Deutsch removal too ( under $10 )

Is the hand throttle a viable option for the 3116? I haven’t really even touched the thing.

I have the same kit sitting in a box on a shelf... Thanks for the how-to, the ecu pin install had me worried, but thanks to your vid it looks like a snap. Did you previously have CAT change your ECU Cruise parameters? Normally you'd have to set Low & High speed parameters in the ECU...
Yes I had CAT set the ECU while I had it in for the rear main seal.

@@ethanturner5567 I had the speedo recalibrated and now it’s 3mph off at 60. So I’ve been trolling the sites for non knock-off CAT ET to just do it myself.
@@BrokeOverLand , did you recalibrate it to my numbers? 49325 P/mile? Worked for me and Matt Molenhouse. We all have 2003 A1's...
@@ethanturner5567 yep those are the numbers they programmed them to. I need to ru it with the reader attached and see what the ECU thinks the speed is vs what the speedometer thinks it is.
I was going to unsubscribe because your videos are demoralizing, but watching that dash eat your hand and you dropping the screwdriver through the engine gives me hope.
Did you not have to do anything to the factory ECU? I heard you have to program it to allow CC to be used on the 3126...
Normally you'd have to reset the cruise control Low Speed & High Speed settings. Factory default is set to 15mph high and low.
i have a cat 3116 in my m1084 1996....can i add a cruise control or it s impossible
I honestly don’t know. I have not searched for a cruse system for the 3116. The 3116 is all manual throttle control vs the 3126’s computer controlled system.
What were you going to do if the brakes didn't disconnect? Lol

You mentioned this mod works for C7 and 3126B engines. Looking at buying an A1 truck. Any idea if A1 came with both B and non-B 3126 engines? Is the non-B 3126 a non-ECU engine? Is that why it won’t take this mod?
It will work for any of the 3126’s you’ll find in an LMTV. The difference between 3126 a,b,e is mostly just noise and emissions changes.

Does the remote need a battery?
I was thinking about using a stalk instead.
The into is back. :). Yes the remote needs a battery. I haven’t had to change it yet so It seems to have a long life.

Question: Does application of engine brake only temporarily pause the cruise control the same way the brake pedal does?
I have not tested cruse with the engine brake enabled. Since there is a direct connection with the brake pedal to the cruse control system and no connection to the engine brake, I don’t think it will interrupt the cruse setting. But I would need to test it to be sure.
@@BrokeOverLand Thanks for responding. I was curious how detailed the ECM was mapped. I was trying to account for all the wires you plugged into it's connector and thought maybe the engine brake situation was mapped.
Any chance anyone knows where to get one of these nowadays? E-bay link is a no go and I'm not having much luck elsewhere.
I just talked to Berend, the wireless modules are no longer manufactured so he is unable to make more units at this time. We’ll have to see if anyone else knows where to get them.
Hi Chad, I would like to know how much insurance you pay for the m1078?
Pray tell what is the green digital display on the top of the left dash ?
It is a GPS based speedometer. I didn’t fully trust the speedometer in the truck after swapping to 3.07 gears and having CAT change the shaft rotation count in the ECU.
