Adventures with Abel Who's channel is this?
Looks great. I must have missed an episode, why are are you pulling the car?
I assume you have a ceiling fan in your toilet area? If so a trick I learned that helped keep odor down was never flush while the ceiling fan is running. It just pulls those vapors right up and out of the toilet tank.
I noticed the same thing I’ve resorted to reversing the fan for some more unpleasant flushes.
Is that what the smell are as in my parking lot lolololo. Nope that is not my parking lot must have been my truck lol. Hope you all are having a safe trip
Nope, you’ll find the surprise eventually. ;)
@@BrokeOverLand lol
We are looking at the same Thetford as well. Overall, are you happy with it, and would you buy it again? Has the vent fan you installed made a big enough difference? Always great videos. Thanks for sharing 👍
It is a love hate relationship. It is nice we can find places to dump the cassette and not have to take the truck. But the same could be said for a composting. The fan modifications are working to an extent. But the ceiling fan still over powers it, so I either have to shut off the ceiling fan or revers it to blow air into the bathroom, which defeats the purpose of installing the toilet fan in the first place.
Ooops! Buy a bath sponge to replace the dish sponge! 😂😂😂
Just seen you in Florence ky nice truck
Why the hell do lmtv batteries constantly go bad even if you switch the switch off….
Am I allowed to drive this one?
I've got an older model blue ox - still frustrating, but the arms on mine go WAY wider if needed - so I can be less accurate :)
Glad to see your sense of humor is still intact😜
When I flat tow my samurai, I use a tow bar with a ball hitch. Much less slop.
In hindsight I should have bought a different tow bar with a ball and used the drop hitch I already had.
@@BrokeOverLand if only foresight were as clear as hindsight.
Real LMTV drivers dont wear flip flops!
Good stuff, Chad! A little mods are always good. “Shield the noise?!” What? Let it rip!
Bigger pintle and a 2.5" anti rattle sandwich plate for the hitch to the drop hitch. That thing will be silent as ever.
I use to have a LMTV M1079 which I have sold. I so happen to have a pintail tow bar that I used to pull my jeep wrangler with. If you’re interested let me know. Love your channel.
A solid several minutes of some hilarious commentary! Thanks for making my whole afternoon better, Chad!
To much stuff in the can but otherwise nice. The ctis wasnt an upgrade it cane with the truck same with the angle gauge.
Chad, get a towel or foam to protect the car from the hitch and connect the hitch to the car first. Then you hook to the truck.
I’ll try that.
@@BrokeOverLand That's how I always did it too. I made brackets to hold the bars away from the towed vehicle while disconnected. Just noticed your license plate could be the abbreviation for, "Chad Kicks Apostrophes" so many times!
Not being a critic, honest question here, do you talk to yourself that much off camera? No judgement, I do it to.
Chad is your back up camera wired for bluetooth? If it is bluetooth... can you feed it to your phone . so you could see the feed to aid in driving tow car into position for hook up?
a used Uhaul front wheel dolly might, might make your life easier.
A rental you would have to pay a daily/weekly rate for, and because flat towing is possible with 4x4 vehicles whereas only lifting one axle off the ground and dragging another would lead to transmission damage but having all axles on the ground and following the instructions for your vehicle to flat tow wont cause damage.
why a pintle hitch and not a ball?
standard issue on the LMTV.
They are better off road. You get more pivot... Plus it's cooler... Tacticool!
STOP!!! you are too close.😁
I know! He wouldn't listen to me either... Weird...
Great to see you on the road! - If you make it to PA - you have a place to stay in Jim Thorpe! Stop on by, stay a bit, and check out my 1079! Be well and safe travels!!
you are finding out why you don't want to buy an use cheap tools. no to harbor fright junk.
Awesome! And that is one happy puppy!
Hey Chad, Nice to see you made it on the road. If you hit Canada in the fall we have an overland festival up on the great lakes. If you plan a Vermont trip we will be doing a shake down run with our truck later this summer. Stay save out there.
Stoked for you guys and excited to watch your adventures unfold!
Have been enjoying fallowing along with you Chad, and will continue. Out of curiosity, and without getting into specifics, can you talk about how you and your wife prepared to take a year off? I always curious about how people prepare for such large life changes. I don’t know allot about TH-cam, other than very few people can make a living at it. If you ever make it to Petaluma, I have some property and tools if you need a place to camp out. Take care, and we will see you on the next one.
Thanks for following along. I should probably do a question and answer video. As you’re not the only one who has asked me that question.
❤
If you’re ever in NE Georgia and need a place to crash I have plenty of room for you to park and stay the night. Besides, I love to see the finished product. I was a big fan of your channel back when I had my LMTV M1079. And the best part is I’m 5 minutes off Interstate 85. Also there’s plenty of places to shop for fuel and supplies. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you’re interested.
Holy balls. I've done 2 van builds so far and lost track of the hours I put into them. I've built actual houses faster - no joke. Beautiful build. Love that shower door. I wish you many years of enjoyment in this Overlander.
Avoid Hwy 58 in Patrick County, VA, They're currently moving the "mountain"(lol) to complete "Super 58".
Thanks for the heads up
Great to see you finally on the road and enjoying all of your hard work on the truck. I look forward to seeing more of your travels and hopefully connecting up some day on your travels or mine once my camper is finished. Cheers, keep having fun.
Thanks 👍
Good for you guys, If you are ever in Montana you have a driveway to stay in to resupply if needed, and a shop to do any service work on your truck.
If you come through Chattanooga let me know. We have free camping at state parks and I can give you tips from my 5 years on the road.
Good luck y'all! If you ever get the chance, there's some spectacular spots in the PNW y'all should definitely check out, let me know if y'all ever make it to the area, I'll point you in the right direction.
Haha nice Ben.
Congratulations! Been waiting for y'all to show your rig in action. It also reminds me to buy shares in Exxon Mobil.
Yep we burn a lot of fuel. :)
My wife and I live in the central mountains of AZ in Prescott. Awesome climate all year round at 5k ft. Plenty of BLM land and camping!! Casually looking for work? I got into catastrophe insurance adjusting a couple years back, hurricanes, nasty hailstorms like the one you saw the aftermath of. Easy peazy for people with a decent working knowledge of how stuff is built. You can get licensed online, do all your courses on the road. Hit me up when you get into the SW!!
Congrats of finally getting out there :)
I've been watching you from the beginning, glad to see you finally getting to enjoy your ride. I'm finally in a place where I am starting to plan building an LMTV. Does the truck move around much when you walk around? I was wondering if some motor coach stabilizer jacks would be a wise decision for when I get to that point?
We have not had a problem with movement in the truck. I was planning on getting two high lift jacks to put some pressure where the mud flaps mount, to act as stabilizers. But it’s really not needed.
acadia national park / Bar harbor is pretty cool
My wife and I did a 6 month roadtrip in 2022. we loved harvest host, It's 100% worth it to stay overnight at 1000s of wineries, breweries, distilleries.
Stay away from any state that uses salt on their roads. It will ruin your truck and your life...
If it gets cold enough that they need to add salt to the road, I’m heading further south. :). Lived in MN for a while, the salt ate the family car.
Livin' the dream! Entertaining and informative as always, and thanks for the info (and the reminder) about greasing those front drive shafts. I've not done mine yet... shame on me. Best of luck on your journey and thanks for the video. Lookin forward to the next one.
Acadia national park Maine must see. Outer banks North Carolina.
Don’t miss Acadia National Park in Maine. Get into Bar Harbor and plan some breakfast at 2 Cats restaurant, it’s all good, and don’t miss their biscuits w/strawberry butter. It’ll make you see Jesus. :). Expect a wait because it’s small and REAL popular. Taste of Maine restaurant, just across the river from Bath Iron Works shipyard is a great place for seafood. If you’ve got time for the detour, you shouldn’t miss Mountain Washington in New Hampshire. You won’t be able to take your truck to the top, but they have shuttle vans (recommended), or the Cog Railway. Keep in mind the road is only about 1.75 vans wide and the drop off at any given point is….considerable. :). Well worth the trip.
I’ve added these to the plan. Thank you.
I'm a couple years into my 6 month build ...
Love watching your travels and adventures. Miss you on the mats, Michelle! -Jessica Fleck
