Estes Park Colorado with a local
In this video, I take you on a walking tour of Estes Park Colorado. A little town in the rocky mountains where I grew up, to give you an outside the normal history of some of the locations around town.

Why not use an electric system?
Can you tell us more about that CTIS controller (it is not original), did it come with that, or you add it on, what was involved, cost, etc.
That is some amazing engineering and a LOT of hours you put in that. Definitely surpasses my skill level, couple hot tips tho, get Ecohubs to lower your RPMs and kill the noise. 2. next time (right) use house solar panels instead of 12v RV panels, better production, and cheaper if you hunt around, love the Victron work, definitely high end. Video suggestions: what have you done on mechanical maintenance and any break downs that made you broke, those make great vids.
Day in the life, then the video spans several weeks if not months, LOL. It was a fun watch though.
I feel like i've watched 95% of your videos but man.... Where did you relocate your spare tire to? When you deleted it for the passthrough did you just... Not mount it somewhere else or am i missing it somewhere?
what a pain in the ass. LOL. wouldn't it be better to just put a roof top camper AC unit in there??
Awesome build! Do you have a smokedetector installed near your inverter and/or batteries?
I do have a smoke CO detector combo unit installed mid point next to the shoe cubby.
@@BrokeOverLand awesome! Safety for everything 😃
My wife and I enjoyed your video. We love Estes Park. Just a little suggestion, try not to move so much the camera, because some people might get seasick while watching the video. But believe me, your video it's really interesting .
Thanks for watching! I'll try to make the next one more steady. I know what you mean about the seasickness! haha

awesome job man, this came out great!
What insurance do you use?
Allstate
@ thank you
Another side note.... He kept me out of a certain building numerous times by saying don't be an idiot
I vote both local and loco!!! Also of side note he once replaced a driveshaft for me next to the river walk
Thank you for the tour and history lesson, you clearly have great pride in that town. Looked like a nice place to grow up.
Nice! My family moved to Longmont in '72. Spent many Summers at Softball tournaments, etc. The adults usually ended up at "The Wheel" after. Agree on Ed's...great steak tacos!
What a great hometown tour. There is a Stanley Steamer not from here that a friend owns.
Thanks for the tour Chad. Brought back a bunch of memories
What company makes a step ladder to board and inboard an MT-LMTV with 53" wheels?

Love your Channel Chad !!
Awesome! I've been full-time for awhile and home for a few months. Steve will be building my LMTV. If you make it to SE Arizona would love to see your rig.
We are hoping back down in AZ next year
I've driven past that motel that's all tagged up a few times. It seems like the messages and imagery on it changes on a pretty regular rotation. Although it's said the rent is due since at least 2019 when I passed through the first time :D
Not to long. Sometimes longer is better, especially with such fabulous scenery.
Wiley Coyote... Super Genius... What i think when i was in Arches
Great video!
Beautiful! Another Merc! Cool!
Thanks for the videos...this one was definitely not too long.
Ten miles to the next Stuckey's !!! 👍👍
You’re not out of shape, round is a shape! Side note: it’s so crazy how close that meteor came to hitting that visitors center!
I cant begin to tell you how happy this makes me. The patience, careful planning, energy and trial & error that went into the planning and engineering before executing this build... Unparalleled !!!!!!💪🏻
My exact scenario, sSo I retuned everything and I'm going this route!!! Thank You!! nice build / Its a bit more expensive but... The VALUE is there for sure!!!
i think you can just buff that out.
Rain x is your friend. 2 coats on your windshield and side windows will make a huge difference in your visibility. I swear by it. They make a windshield washer fluid too that recoats your window as you drive.
Also. No comment on the “latter” misspelling? ;)
@@BrokeOverLandI have grown weary of misspelled words on social media
I like that you have the ability to tear shit apart and fix it. A lot of U Tubers don't. Pardon my French.
Tearing stuff apart is the fun part. It’s the putting it back together that is usually problematic. :)
Did you buy all these metal working tools just for this truck build ?
I bought quite a few for this project but most I already had.
What’s the link to company you got the bender and new shaft and rollers from ? Thanks , iam watching these out of order !
I bought the bender used from Craigslist and the roller is from harbor freight with upgrades from Swag.
Did you add clear coat as well ?
Very nice What size tubing are you using? Did you have to weld in addition support where the rack attaches to cab ?
I used 1” 1/2 tubing and no I only bolted on backer plates.
What did you need to cut away?
Do you have a link to the manufacturer of the lift system ?
The track actuators are from www.progressiveautomations.com/ I used a custom length version of the PA-18 track actuator and the control system is the FTL-4 sit to stand desk.
Hi! I'm not sure about the oil psi but on my 94 the voltage drop is in the reverse polarity box. It show's a little over 14v going in and around 13v coming out. I hope that helps.
Hey Chad....Some good ideas are already on here on that Ground issue, Especially that one about the Gauges "not" being interchangeable from from jeremysturza. Since you had the "same issue" with your old Gauge, the thought I had was to "Clamp / Ground" a wire on the outer bare metal on that Sender, right over to that Ground Wire on the Starter that rronmar was having you look at, and change it's connection to that Allen Head Hinge / Cab Mount too. Definitely check that Ground under the "PDP" on the Passenger side. We own the same year A1 Truck here as yours, (M1079A1 actually). We were out at the Overland Expo East, and spotted you, but you were pretty busy, (and we had already walked 5 miles !), so we were just heading out. (we also rescue senior Siberian Husky's here too actually). rronmar also has a great idea about doing a more solid / different arrangement on that "press Bolt" in the forward Right Frame. (That gooey/ No-Ox electric compound, or even "T-9 Boe Shield" for ALL of those Frame Ground Connections will help on those dissimilar metals. I did "Di-electric grease on the 4 studs of that Battery Charging Control unit behind the cab, and made a nice "water deflector box/hood for that thing. Water runs Right on it, off the roof of the cab. I Did a water shield over that Anti-Lock Brake controller too). I think you already tried a "Stand Alone Wire" for a feed from that oil Sender, to the Gauge? (Bypassing the Truck Harness completely, and even try its "own" stand alone Ground Wire to the Gauge? (Maybe right off of that PDP Panel Ground, Or, right off of that Starter Ground. You traveled right by us, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, we are about 7 miles north, of where you got onto the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, and stopped for a quick view. I install electronics & other systems on sport Fishing Yachts for a living, (and troubleshoot, for 35 years). Billy and I plan to cruise the country, with our M1079A1, and our Husky next year. Hatteras is first actually. Just so you know, it is pretty your channel, (your fault), that got us inspired on this LMTV project ! lol. Reply back anytime.....it's our pleasure....say hello to Michelle and Sky ........
Thank you for this information. It is a bummer I missed you at overland expo East. I will be going through those grounds here in the next few days.
You may want to check the wires that connect to the fuse/circuit board in the passenger side dashboard. I had a lot of static noise in my newly installed speakers and intermittent dim flashers that eventually stopped working and popped the fuse. Turned out as I was installing the new circuits and moving various wiring harnesses, I had frayed the insulation on some of wires against the metal edge of the hole. The hole is painted so it started with a voltage drop. I guess eventually as the wires vibrated it became a direct short and popped the fuse. Repairing the wires fixed the flashers and reduced the static speaker noise. Hope this helps.
My gauges bounce all over the place so I have been thinking about putting a new ground wire from negative in fuse panel to the dash plate the gauges are mounted in.
Stainless steel all hardware! 🤪 hahaha 🙃 (not in re to your oil pressure issue...I have no ideas there, sorry...good luck!)
How did you get that up the driveway?
No problem even pulling the jeep. We will be in town this weekend if you are around.
For these trucks there were a few different gauges that were not interchangeable. I work for Steward / Stevenson / bae as a field engineer for these and the mraps. I most likely still have some wiring diagrams and service/parts manuals
Also clean up the ground /12 / 24 volt connection in the dric ( dual relay interconnect) it’s the box with the manual shut off and slave plug on it next to the batteries
I was bidding on an M1079A1 van truck and did not win it. The truck went for $36100, which is way more than others have gone for. However, with the box and the fact that it was basicly perfect with only 1000 miles and everything worked, at least based on the gov planet inspection. As someone who has gone through the expense and effort of fixing one up, do you think that price is defensable? Thanks for the videos.
Honestly I don't think that's a bad price. Especially for a very low miles and clean M1079 with a C7. A new pick-up or sprinter would cost how much! If i was in the market again I would have been bidding neck-and-neck with you!
From auction. Probably not, but maybe. It depends on your financial position. (Mine was sold as a running no issue truck and it ran for 15 seconds at a time when I got it) you will still need to go through the whole truck. As with any vehicle that is 20ish years old. At the end of the day, pay what you can afford with the knowledge it is going to need some work.
@@BrokeOverLand Thank you for responding. Funny, because the video of start up ends with guages going back to zero before the video ends. I wonder if it shut down. I guess I shouldn't feel too bad about missing this one. Whether I can afford it or not depends on if you are talking to me or my wife...but I can afford it. Just don't want to over pay as it is definitely a want and not a need, but I realize in the long run you aren't going to worry about a few thousand dollars.
@@nathanmeyer3855 Thank you, Nathan. I guess the thing is you don't really know how clean it is until you go through it thoroughly after the money is spent.
NYK 77 Trucklite anti corrosion compound is hreat for preventing corrosion on cable connections.
Cross fit shirt check... pile of wood to split check... If you can take a meter and take a reading at the sensor and and at the gauge and see if there is any issue between. I wonder if the ground issue is at the sensor?
Hi Guys you missed a few grounds… go under the truck on the drivers side under the starter. There is a stud on the front end of the starter motor casing. There is a strap from there to the drivers frame rail. That is the main ground/engine ground lead as that is also where the large neg cable back to the battery - is connected. Replacing the cab ground is a good idea, that frame end connection is just… well… wrong!… many connect the cab side of it under one of the allen head hinge/cab mount bolts that point straight ahead behind the grill with cab lowered. Good flat spot to connect the strap to rather than that small surface area welded on bolt(is it welded on or is that some kind of sealant?). There are 1 or 2 more in the cab under the dash/under the power panel. On the A0 the point up in the tunnel where the ground strap was bolted was actually a thru bolt. On the inside there is another ground strap(2 ground straps bolted together with the cab tunnel wall sandwiched in between) that one runs from the tunnel up to the extreme right of the dash power panel surround. From there you will have at least one more to your main panel ground(ground test point on the A0 panel, not sure where it lands on the A1). TB2, the main ground terminal board under the power panel also ties to that last ground point. And yes, the Elk get to play thru:)
Thank you Ron. I’ll check those as well.
