There’s a thing called a *JOKE* in which one person says something funny, people laugh and find it funny too, and then someone like you comes along and ruins it, needing someone to explain the joke to them. I’ll do that now. What @Nathan Brisebois said makes sense because the person at Weed Man said that they “didn’t have his file” and then said that “their file doesn’t say anything related to the situation” meaning that the first statement that the person made was false, and the company did in fact have a file on the customer. It is “funny” because the Weed Man representative gave herself up, saying that she was lying.

I'm Canadian and The most Canadian store is Canadian tire that's painted red. Then like the most Canadian clothes tend to have 1 maple leaf and very occasionally it's red. I went to the USA one time and legit in the first 10 minutes driving around I saw 15 people wearing full America flag bathing suits and 2 stores painted as the flag and so many American flags on clothes. (The whole thing was a flag)
And we dont brag about this stuff. Also I hear a lot more things like this about America.

They randomly did my friends lawn and left a invoice for 80$ said he had X amount of days to pay before it went to a debt collection agency. We didn't even know who WeedMan was. He never spoke with them or anything. I feel WeedMan and some collection agencies have a little friendship together.

weed man did that to a new neighbor who happened to be an attorney. they had not lived there for more than a week before getting their first invoice. my neighbor kept tossing them out since my neighbor had never spoken to a employee at all. eventually a debt collector tried to come after him for some 4k after a few years of never even interacting with them and he served weed man with the nastiest lawsuit he could and won handily. he even helped another neighbor dealing with weed man file the same lawsuit.
@@TH-camguru05 definitely not true. My mother had a collection from a small car lot that she bought a pickup truck from. It broke down within 2 weeks and she told them pick it up. Since she was within her 30 days she didn’t have to pay anymore, but the tow bill was $265. Long story short, she never paid it and it got sent to collections.

Just a heads-up: as a former Weed Man employee, I experienced unfair treatment & low pay. Their services can be overpriced & ineffective. I'd advise researching alternatives before working for or hiring them. Be cautious and make informed choices! 👍
I had a very elderly friend and she complained that a company kept spraying her yard without her asking for this service; she eventually just paid the company, seemed year after year. She was just from a generation that paid their bills, no matter what - even if ripped off.

I’m so glad I didn’t get the job when I applied for them. I had a great first interview and was scheduled for a second,but then I went home and spoke with my wife.
She asked if anything in the chemicals was hazardous/poisonous to me and potentially to her since she is very susceptible to getting sick.
I emailed my concerns to the interviewer.
To this day, I’ve never gotten a call, email or text from them.

As an ex Weed Man employee I can completely agree with these angered residents. It was my first job and they made young teens go door to door and encourage to get a signature from home owners for a "free summer service" . We were paid $6 and hour with $0.50 per signature. At the end of it they did not pay me the hours that I worked and that left me with a bitter feeling from my first job experience. So the company is fraud from inside out.
Every dude in Canada has seemed to have worked for these guys and all of them say they didn't get paid their full wage. This company is such crap.

I’m a Mechanic, if they did this to me, I’d change the oil on their truck, and put the bill under the wiperblade, and if they don’t pay, I’ll contact a collection agency for my 300 bucks for an oil change

These people were calling me and I was ignoring them, deleting the voicemails. Then I got an automated voice mail that my account is overdue.
I had to Google what Weedman was, as I had never heard of them. I am supposed to pay a bill for a service I never agreed to, never knew about, nor got an invoice for. And I don't even own this house, my parents do who live here. They have no idea what Weedman is either. I wish I knew how they got my phone number.
Finally an answer to the eternal question, "Where are all the rude Canadians?" Weed Man gone and hired them all up!

Nobody is happy with the cost of medications but thats the Governments fault with regulations, deals, and other variables. I would demand at least two tacos for my pancreas, pointing out that he used the plural of tacos. But of course I would be foolish not to specify the number of tacos in our agreement. Also, I would have an independent doctor verify that he did, in fact, remove my pancreas and not some other organ or even just make an incision without removing anything. If the doctor removed my pancreas and inserted two tacos in it's place, I would be upset but any competent court would rule that the terms of the agreement had been fulfilled as there was no language specifying that the tacos must be consumed orally. The lesson to be learned here is that contracts are tricky and you must attend to details.

Its crazy to see this 5 years later. My dad has been in the hospital since march and never asked for weedman services but they showed up in the summer and sprayed his grass. He had no clue until he received a notice from a collection agency. I never bothered to fight it and just paid it off for him. They are obviously continuing their shady practices.

I worked for their call center in Whitby for less than a week. I quit when they told me to just renew each customers contract if they don't answer the phone or didnt specifically say NO

It’s called a hard sales tactic, if you’re selling a great item to customers who are in need of what you’re selling, this is a very effective way to sell. However, this is plain scamming people.
If a Weed Man salesman comes on your property, tell him "You are trespassing leave now or I will call the Police" right up front.

As somebody who worked as a salesman for this company, its not the salespeople who are shady. We were just doing our jobs and following procedures. Please direct anger at the higher management, who no doubt do some shady stuff. Most weedman sales people are college kids with 0 sales experience such as myself, and when people were rude to me because of what the company does, I was the only one who suffered, not the big guys higher up.

You know that some fertilizers make great ice/show melters because of their high salt content. So they simply wanted your lawn to green up earlier.

It must be nice to be able to conduct business this way. I mean, you buy it, whether you want it or not, or it goes to collection. Imagine if Walmart did that to us, or McDonalds placing a Big Mac on our doorstep, everyday, without even ordering it, but sending us the invoice afterwards.

We end up arguing about not wanting to get up *bed time has went from **9:30** to **8:00** for not wanting to get up* don't know where their book bags are *ALWAYS on the stairs going into the living room and kitchen Where I PUT IT EVERY SINGLE NIGHT *Sunday/Thursday after going thru it * after I finish my ciggerett (taking changed to quit ! day 3 and went from an entire pack to less than half a pack) I will be going to sleep. I stay up usually until they go to school and wake up when they come home. Last 2 weeks I was put on new medications that knock me out.....

Even if they could, based on what I've seen in the States, here's how it would go: Lawyers realize it's a national chain and try to bag the elephant, as the saying goes. They sue the parent company, automatically include all customers as the class, and settle for some multi-million dollar amount that breaks down to $5 per customer (regardless of whether they were harmed or not) in the form of a discount on future service. The company gets off with a manageable payment, the lawyers get rich, and the folks who were screwed by the company are still screwed, but they have a $5 coupon for services from a company they despise.
+Andrew Timm manageable payment, but that doesn't count all the fees for lawyers and court fees. It's a hit to the pocket book. It's not about getting money for the consumer.
But what's the chance that the amount that a major company has to pay is even a dent in their profits?
Weedman is the worst company ever. The company just suddenly showed up to my house and started working on my lawn a few years ago. I had no idea who they were and had never signed up for any of it and then they just billed me! I disputed the charges but they wouldn't reverse them and then they just showed up at my house several times after that while I was at work and sent me the bill. I refused to pay it so they send it to collections. I nearly went insane trying to rectify this but got no where. I need your help CBC news!
Can you catch them in the act and call the police on them for trespassing? Would you feel comfortable filing a lawsuit? Post a no-trespassing sign that specifies no Weedman and threatens action if they trespass anyway? I feel very American giving these suggestions that seem overly aggressive, but they seem like a predatory company so maybe aggressive is the only option that will work.
I had runins with government agencies incorrectly sending me bills. The way you go about disputing them is much the same. Hassle them as much as possible to get your right. Involve every single law and utilize every bit of leverage you can. It is a long, annoying, tedious and emotional process but coming away with a win is soooooooooooooo worth it. Especially when you know you're in the right.
Call them up and ask if the sky is blue, once they say yes, Take their truck tires and send them a bill for the work.

Remy, I'm not sure if this would work, but maybe you can try filing a dispute with the credit agency? In America we have 3 major credit agencies, I'm not sure how it works in Canada. Call them and file a dispute or claim stating that you never agreed to services. They should open an investigation, and if they do, they'll find this is a common occurance. Hope it gets worked out.

I know it's not for great reasons, but I can guarantee this wouldn't happen in the USA. Not because we aren't getting reamed by big corporations in many other ways, but because many folks would shoot any uninvited person on their property...and often be protected by the law for it.
Crazy I know, and I'm not bragging that's for sure, but there is a real difference just across the border as to how private property and trespass are defined as well. The guy going into someones backyard would easily be considered as taking his/or her life into their own hands. I guess that motto from the Gadsden Flag declaring "Don't tread on Me" must apply to a person's lawn as well, LOL!
Personally our yard is not only just native grasses and wildflowers, at least in the Spring, it is now crunchy and a golden brown color that would send any "Weed Man" scurrying away. The rocky soil would repel any signs they tried to post quicker than the threat of gun-play too.

As someone that use to work for weedman at the time this was been filmed. Weedman is literally not what they make them self sound like. The product does not work at all also workers do just randomly sign people up so that they get a bonus for getting someone to sign up. I would not recommend this service to anyone or even work for weedman. I could not work there anymore cause I did not feel that it was right ripping people off. Also workers do ghost jobs saying they did the work but never did.

I am dealing with the same problem at the moment. Weedman did my lawn last year and totally trashed it with too much fertilizer, now i cant even get grass to grow so last fall they called to renew my service for this year and i told them to lose my number. 3 weeks ago i came home from work and a weedman marker was on my lawn. they had fertilized my lawn even though i cancelled the service. last night they called me to threaten me by sending my bill to the credit bureau right away. i told the lady that i had cancelled the service so i should not have to pay the bill. her reply was "too bad". How can scammers like this even stay in business????

They won't drop charges though because they would be sued for wrongful arrest. I personally think it's okay for cops to lie, but only when necessary. I worked for Weedman, as both a door knocker and lawn tech. The company pushes new sales rather than taking care of the customers they already have. The company is terrible from the top down, it’s the only job I ever walked out on in the middle of a shift!

People, if you see someone you don't know on your lawn, you call the cops and ask them for a report on the event. There's your proof.
What if its the gas/electricity technician. They are allowed by law to check on your property
?ANONYMOUS? You ask for crediential in this case, you don't just let anyone proceed... Plus, I'm pretty sure a gas/electricity technician is not gonna spray anything on your lawn or put up a sign on it...
If they're a gas/electric technician, they'll have credentials. If they aren't....there's always tasers, mace, hand cuffs/zip-ties, and hot-sauce squirt guns.
I do believe that some of these people agreed to the services, at least to some extent. Always be very clear with the salesman and say «no». If you do get a bill, always contact the company directly on the phone (don’t use e-mail) immediately. Also, be polite and calm, you want the consultant to help you. Don’t rant or tell your whole story - be very precise. «My name is X. This is regarding order X. I don’t recall ordering this. I want documentation.» Know which rules and laws apply to these types of contracts in your area. Most likely, you can argue that they don’t have the documentation required and the contract is illegal. Ask to speak with their supervisor if they’re following a script. Don’t go off on tangents! This is purely documentation vs contract. If they don’t give up, ask them for a written e-mail documenting the contract and why it’s binding. Tell them that this e-mail will be forwarded to your lawyer, the consumer agency and their legal team for further review. Most likely, they’ll not want to incriminate themselfs in an written response. At this point - they’ll give up.

I've worked in lawn care before.
Some workers purposely don't use chemicals and let weeds grow wild just so they get more paid hours to hand pick them.
I counted 4,000 weeds in one day once.
I had good dealings with Weed Man about 38 years ago. I canceled the service because I was concerned about the chemicals getting into my dug well. Never dealt with them again and based on what I saw here, I never will.
