    Here's lesson showing you some cool bass chords that Tommy Shannon plays on Texas Flood live... 😎

    I couldn't imagine memorizing this whole bass line start to finish since Tommy was improvising the whole thing and there's so much variation. But learning these lines feels like bass playing 101 for how to outline chords, incorporate 6ths, flat 7s, chromatic walkups (or down), etc., while keeping it melodically and rhythmically interesting. Your PDF is awesome and I will be spending a lot of time with it. Thanks!

      That's a good approach to take with this lesson. I never really intend for watchers to learn the whole thing by memory, but instead to learn the techniques from great players like Tommy Shannon. Then, hopefully some of these idea can be used in your own bass lines. Glad you like the PDF.

    These videos are AXEsome (🎸 some) and the free PDT downloads are very much appreciated.
    The main reason for not signing up for a paid course is that, at the moment, my free time is unpredictable as there is a lot going on in my life (nothing bad but time consuming, tiring and unpredictable) and I would get frustrated and feel but I should be paying attention but at the moment and maybe for the next year it's less stressful to do what I can when I and your videos are excellent and your way of presenting suits me.
    I did have a 50 year break ...from 20-70 ish so I suppose it was a sort of black sabbatical 😁 ..... So there's no great rush😂
    I may have mentioned this before a comment but some presentations drive me crazy even though the content can be good.
    When I get time I'll send some bullet points of things you that you don't do that makes me very happy that you don't do them
    So it's much appreciated and it's not a case of being mean.

      Hi Peter, thanks so much for your positive comments and I'm really glad that you like my presentation style. I'd be interested to hear the things to avoid as it's always a learning curve! No problem at all that you haven't got time at the moment to sign up for a course, there's no pressure there but thanks anyway for mentioning that.

    Great lesson, Greg 🙌🏽
    And, like your Lakland. I have two P/J Bob Glaub model Lakland basses. Love both of them. And, I have Lindy Fralin PUPS in both.

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right on! Mine is a Bob Glaub too! I have Bare Knuckle pickups in mine. Do you know them? I've also got a Lakland Joe Osborn 5-string J-bass with Bartolini's which is also great!

    • @anthonycook4297
      @anthonycook4297 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GregsBassShed … I have heard of Bare Knuckle, but have no experience with them . And Bartolini is another pick up that I have been interested in trying . I will have to give both a listen. I have heard very good things about Bartolini .
      Most of my basses have Lindy Fralin or DiMarzio pick ups.

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anthonycook4297 it was definitely swapping out the pickups in both Lakland basses. Really improved the tone. Both necks are so nice. I got them direct from the US back in 2008 when I was playing in Jersey Boys in London.

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, it's in G Major and it's a 12/8 Blues. I kinda think of all SRV tunes as being Texas Blues, but this is not a Texas Shuffle as that would be more a 4/4 time signature.

      Hi Dennis. I had a look and a month ago an email bounced to you so you automatically got taken off the GBS Mailing List. This could have been because your inbox was full or your email provider didn’t like my email for some reason.
      If you fill out any PDF request form, you can opt back in.
      Let me know if this doesn’t work.

    Even in 1983 many albums took much longer than 3 days to do.
