@Its Kaba She died 2 weeks ago due to malignant hypothermia, she was 14 months old. 3 September we are picking up a brown border collie, we named her Novi. It means new, to symbolise a new start

So. Weird, im watching this channel a year later and I am also getting a dog in September. Will have a brand new Border Collie pup, I'm so. Excited. It's. Been 3 years since I had to put downb my Golden, she was 15 and my best friend. I miss her to bits and will never replace her but it's time for a new little friend.
Edited to add, I just read your most recent comment. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope nothing but the best for your new coming puppy tho.

I work from home, I need him to have a strong recall so he doesn't torment my kitties. He's only 3 months old now (border collie/Aussie). It's it acceptable to have training treats on hand for now to create that strong recall? I never worked before when I had a puppy so I had all the time I needed to train them.

Are you concerned about Riley ingesting some of the mat - look like rubber?

Very useful video.....but I would use ball instead.......sticks can result in injuries. My dog got a bit of stick lodged in back of throat. It cost me £100 for the vet to remove it !

Yeah balls work well. You can also use the Fenrir hammer: fenrircanineleaders.com/collections/all-products/products/the-fenrir-hammer

What could I do to change the way he eats if he does not eat kibble, he eats raw meat. I can't scatter raw meat all over my house or even in a foraging mat.

Hey I have a 10 month old border collie who used to chew everything! Furniture included. When he starts to get restless (and can’t take him on a walk) we start to teach him new tricks to distract him, using lick pads are amazing as-well and chews and kongs! Mentally stimulation is as nearly as tiring as physical stimulation x

Don’t sell him, he will get better with age if trained right❤️

Not sure if you still have your collie or not. We bought a short hair working line collie.... for the suburbs...
Redirection is really useful, when our pup now 12months old, would chew something she shouldn't we have a firm No and offered a chew toy, nyla bones are great, when she takes the chew we mark with Yes.
Untrained collies are terrible dogs (worse than the average), a well trained collie is the best dog (better than the average). Good luck

Also depending on how old, I would be making her/him tired by using their brains. Collies can run 40km/day and still be up for more - you'll never be able to completely tire them that way. Loose rule Get in 30mins as a pup, work up to an hour at 12months (walk, socialise and play etc) but ppl who think they need to push a collie (companion dog) for hours a day are training them to need that much they mistake the energy they have as pups as the measure how much that dog needs. Each dog is different but mental stim for collies is critical. Leave it, stay, come commands specifically are WAY more useful than rollover etc. Just up the challenge on leave it etc in new environments.
Edit* I've raised pups b4 but collies are a whole other thing, I wasn't prepared, if it's young there is light at the other side.

Normal for a puppy... Don't sell trust me when they stop after 10 months or so they are the best. Just distract them and don't be lazy.
