People claim Border Collies are supposed to be very intelligent. I have a 3 year old black and tan Border Collie named Doc, and I'm not so sure about the intelligence of the breed. For the last two months I've been teaching him to type. He can't type more than about 75 words per minute without misspelling a few words. Maybe if I were a better trainer he could be faster?

He probably just doesn't like your version of English, border collies are from the border of England/Scotland

I'll be honest, our border Collie is smart but she's lacking in the wisdom department. She gets stuck on the wrong sides of gates and often ends up running full-tilt into things. She's easily trained but still, dumb as a stump😂

Border collies are really smart. My friend had one, and when I went to his house his border collie helped me with my calculus homework. Really smart and very patient. Amazing breed

I like what this trainer said. Treat each dog as an individual. Wise words for training any breed and any dog. It makes the difference. Plus, that's what makes training dogs so much fun.

I recently got a border collie. I love working dogs so I knew mostly what to expect. She tries to herd everything. The goats; the chickens ; our other dog. The cats. They tolerate her. I'd love to learn how to train her to do what she obviously loves

For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

I love Murphy's grade. Not just a D, but a D minus, lol. That's the gentleman's humour on display. Great video, it's always such a pleasure to watch dog, human & sheep working together.

I'm starting to try to train my Aussie Lab mix. Unfortunately I have no stock other than chickens and I think that might just excite him too much. So, I have to train on a jolly ball. I have no idea what I'm doing but it seems to be vaguely working. In two sessions he's got about a 70 percent sucess rate on "Come Bye" And "Away" I might shorten "Come bye" to just "Bye" as he already knows Come as a different command.

I've a 3yr blue merle border collie called Murphy. He's so smart, he's from working parents. He doesn't work live stock, but he's so obedient has an active lifestyle, and he sees cattle and sheep often but just passes them by. He learns quick. I was wondering if it is possible to teach a older dog to work sheep that hasn't before. When he was a pup he did stalk and crouch when he saw sheep. But I've got him to pass by and leave them alone.

Me and my wife just bought our first BC today. We pick her up in 2 weeks. We are so excited but also nervous. This will be our first experience with this type of dog. If anyone read this and has any tips or anything it would be much appreciated. We already have her enrolled in obedience and agility training and our base plan is a very long walk in the morning, a 2nd long walk at night and an additional minimum hour of training/ exercise every day

@Tim Farmer's Country Kitchen I'm now on day 5 with her. She's absolutely adorable and extremely inquisitive. She is only about 10 weeks so I'm staying simple and letting her acclimate in the first couple weeks. First thing is she was house broken when we got her just from natural instinct. She was in a pin but was never inside the traditional house setting until we picked her up and not a single accident. She already knows her name and sit and about 90% on a crate command. I'm already shocked by her intelligence for being so young.

I do. And here's why. From Wikipedia:Timothy "Tim" Farmer (born March 18, 1964) is an American outdoorsman, musician, and television presenter. He is known as the host and executive producer of the television shows Kentucky Afield, Tim Farmer's Country Kitchen, and Tim Farmer's Homemade Jam.,[1] for which he has won a total of five regional Emmy awards.[2] A motorcycle accident in 1984 left Farmer without the use of his right arm, and he has since worked with other Kentuckians to cope with and overcome similar physical disabilities
