My favorite thing about this remake is how they fleshed out the Prince. The scene where he lays down with his dying father as if he was a little boy again? I freaking bawled.
There's a children(young adult?) book series Disney has going on that retells the stories from the prince's perspective, pretty much giving them their own story that overlaps eventually with their princess. I haven't read any yet, but I've read some of the summaries and thought 'hey! why didn't they just make these into movies?'~~~
Rizzo didn’t catch the hint that the prince when he tried the slipper on Cinderella and said “will you love me as I am an apprentice still ,earning his trade” he already recognized her! That was something he only said to her in conversation hehehe
in the original story, cinderella was barefoot which is why the fairy godmother had to make completely new slippers, which is why they didn't have to change back into anything
Ohhh woow that does make sense!!!! But I did really like Rizzo's theory of bc it was clear and like nothing it didn't disappear. Also I never questioned it not disappearing after midnight until this video🤯🤯🤯🤯
I always thought it was because the shoes were the only things that the fairy godmother didn’t transfigure. The carriage was a pumpkin, the horses were mice, the coachman was a goose, but the shoes she made out of thin air ✨
In the animated classic, when Cinderella discovers that she still has the glass slipper after the de-transformation, she looks up and says "Thank you." Which can mean "Thank you for giving me this whole experience," but I also took it to mean thanks for making a special exception and allowing the glass slippers to remain.
This movie is a visual marvel. It's exactly how a live-action fairy tale film should be and it doesn't look cartoonish. The world is beautiful, fantastic, and believable.
this live action will never be topped, it adds new things to the story, good costuming and set.. immaculate casting and the love story within the movie is just saurrrr gooodd!!!!! They meet before the ball and it makes it a little more believable when they meet at the ball
One of the many things I love about this film is that they added more depth to the characters, including Lady Tremaine. They told her back story, how she was once in love, but after her husband died she hoped to find love again and to be able to provide for her daughters. But she became jealous that her new husband still loved his previous wife and daughter more. Also the reason they had to dismiss the servants is because they no longer have an income, the father is a wealthy merchant and not an aristocrat. But to have the stepfamily begin to abuse Ella even before her dad dies is horrible
It's actually crazy how genuine and sweet Cinderella and the Prince's interactions are. Like their meeting in the woods genuinely feels like a meet-cute, they both say things that clearly emotionally impacts the other (Cinderella telling him to have courage and be kind and inspiring his beliefs as the future king, the Prince reassuring her that the abusive treatment she receives is not her fault), and it's clear that they both just genuinely want to see each other again even before considering marriage. Like even despite only meeting twice, their attraction and feelings towards each other feels so real and absolutely carries the magic of this movie
This movie is just a masterpiece. It was shot on film to give it a more storybook quality. The casting , costumes , set design and story is just so beautiful. Please do yourself a favor and watch all the behind the scenes and deleted scenes . The entire story and production of this movie is a miracle. So much care went into the whole movie . It truly is the best live action Disney movie .
Dudeee what that movie DID to my 10-year old impressionable self, back in 2015 😂. I swear minute 23:44 was my Pride and Prejudice hand flex kinda moment 🤣🤣🤣
I do believe I speak for the whole comment section when I say: someone give Rizzo a hug. Also, I knew the Bridgerton costume designer also made these costumes, but Shonda Rhimes must be a big fan of this movie, too - because there are so many parallel plot beats for season 2! Kanthony meeting on horseback, a conversation between powerful men on a terrace overheard and throwing a wrench in the love story, one of the "ugly" sisters singing badly, Kate and Anthony being stared at by an entire ballroom while they dance out their love, the lizard guy. I wonder if Lady Featherington will mimic Lady Tremaine's strategy in season 3. Or if that lizard guy will come back. Anyway, love your channel. xD
Oh wait, my bad, Mirojnick designed Bridgerton and the "Brandi" Cinderella movie, not this Cinderella movie. I was right about the lizard guy, though. ;)
Yeah, they had Lily James corseted quite tight in the ballgown. There's a bts story about how she drank a bunch of soda one day on set & had to be unlaced in order to burp...I LOVE this gown. But I don't think it needed to be as tightly corseted as it was. The skirt had enough drama on its own to carry the silhouette. Also, poor Richard Madden had to model the prince's breeches multiple times for the costume crew with different jock straps to figure out which one was best for 'discreet-ness' lol...they had to make sure there were no scandalized parents.
Fun Story- So there’s only a handful of actual princes in the world left, and last year was the 18th birthday gala for one of them, Prince Christian of Denmark. For his birthday they invited 18 year olds from around the country as representatives of their regions, and one girl actually left her shoe behind. I don’t think anything came out of that, but I love how she realized how funny it would be to try to play out a real life Cinderella. The royal family posted a picture of it on their social media the next day 😅
This is the best live action so far, speaking of the dress, it had a skirt made of 24 layers of fabric, hand embroidered with more than 60,000 Swarovski crystals, they even adorned her hair with Swarovski crystals, the movie is really a fantasy, I love the swing scene, the chemistry between the 2 actors is incredible
Some individuals or sources suggest that the hairdressers and costume designers aimed for a distinctive hairstyle for Cinderella in the glittering ball and garden scene, contrasting with the other female characters who all have their hair up. It's speculated that they might have drawn inspiration from Empress Sisi, known for frequently wearing a similar style, as seen in her renowned portrait by Franz Xaver Winterhalter titled "Empress Elisabeth of Austria in Courtly Gala Dress with Diamond Stars" from 1865.
The thing that I really like about the mother's moral, "have courage and be kind," is that it can be seen as having the courage to face whatever life throws at you and being kind to other people. But in reality, it also means having the courage to stand up for yourself and being kind to yourself. Also, Kate Blanchett and Anjelica Huston play the best versions of the stepmother and so far no one has even come close to either of them.
12 years old me using a lot of blankets to recreate the dress skirt so I could twirl all around my room and my sister making fun of me because I was too old for that💀 ahhh the good old times
fun fact, the awe and gasp when Cinderella was lifted as she and the prince dance was genuine, people were at awe as they watch the moment because it was mesmerizing.
Funny thing is I didn’t know Lavender’s Blue (dilly dilly) was a real song until Bridgerton came out, and Daphne sang it to Eloise the day their father died and the night Their mother Violet was giving birth to Hyacinth. I thought the song was just something Disney created for Cinderella.
In the scene where her dress transforms, Lily James did the exact same movements she memorized for two shots then they edited them together and it came out seamlessly and magical. Also yes part of the dress's skirt is cgi. ❤
Yes I'm excited. This Cinderella Version still is my fav live remake that Disney put out in the last years. Looks and feels like a fairytaile, great costumes, directing and cast..also did a little twist on the story and gave the characters more personality❤
In the original movie, the glass slipper is from the old shoes. I assumed the Fairy Godmother interfered with the spell. She let Cinderella keep them to put her on a path to leaving her family. In this version, the slippers wouldn't change because they had nothing to change back into.
“We have a half-wit for a sister.” “I’ve got two.” That moment has me crack up every time, especially because the “ugly” stepsister is played by the outrageously gorgeous Holliday Granger.
I blame this movie for making me actually HAVE expectations for the other live action remakes. This was so well done to a level that the others didn't quite match up to. That DRESS was amazing- the layers of material they used, specifically chosen to lay on top of each other in that way to create that gossamer-like quality was genius. Awww rizzo crying in the first like 2 minutes 🥹 so sweet! Dying though every time he brought up Ariel’s dress, poor benji lol. I forgot how good this was. They really fleshed out the characters and it actually felt like a fairy tale. Please do the beauty and the beast remake next, that one’s my all-time favorite!
This is the best live action Disney made! The magic of it all, the deep dive into characters( especially Kit), kit and ellas adorable meet cute! All of it was so so good! Cate blanchete, helen bonham carter, the whole list of actors is incrediable and they all knocked it out of the park I grew up on the original carton version so its close to my heart but i truly love this one more then the original! Cinderella in gereal is one of my favorute princesses. Courage and Kindness can solve many a peoples problems. Thats why its a part of the mantra i have my daughters tell themselves every morning " i am strong, i am brave, i am loved, i am kind" Loved seeing Rizzo shed some tears, i get emotional every time i watch this movie as well
The costuming, design, and practical sets will always floor me with this movie. It just looks so good, it still has that colorful magic of an animated film! This will always be my comfort movie lol
One of the best parts of this film is that it was shot on film and not digital as well as almost exclusively using practical effects!! The only cgi used was on the animals, the castle, touching up the gowns, and other very minor details and the rest was aallll practical!!! The ballroom chandeliers held thousands of real candles which were hand lit pay dozens of crew members, and the music played at the ball was played on antique instruments specifically from the time period the movie is based on :))
I saw this film two weeks after my father died. It was the first time I went out since and I brought my little cousins. I tried to hold it in but started to cry when I got in the car. This film hits so different when you lose a parent. When Rizzo cries I cry . I know it hit him hard. I am using the Disney slap next time my friends question anything in a film! No one does more entertaining and heartfelt reactions than the Pink Popcast. So deserving of 💯 thousand subscribers. I know this channel will continue to grow.
i would love to see you guys react to mamma mia and mamma mia here we go again. super fun, campy, unhinged, plus bops and himbos ETA: rizzo would probably cry at both too
31:05 a little fun story - I’m Danish, and last year our prince (now crown prince) turned 18. As part of the celebration, a boy and a girl (aged 18) from each municipality in Denmark was invited to Copenhagen to take part in the party. One girl left her shoe behind on the stairs when leaving the party, which caused a media frenzy. The Danish Royal Palace (Kongehuset) made a post on their official instagram with the description “Was it perhaps Cinderella who forgot her shoe last night?”. They started a “search” for “Cinderella” and eventually gave her back her shoe. No proposals though, but I guess we can’t have everything 🤷♀️
23:15 y'all cut the scene so i don't even know how my brain made that connection but the bow she gave on top of the stairs made me think of yuja wang and her bows, just like, deeply grateful
This was the best Disney live action, it had everthing, good costumes, good cgi, beautiful soundtrack, and they added some story that didn't s* on the original...
Thank you so much! We always try to stick with films that will draw the best from us too! There have been some films or shows that people have requested that I know deep down I’m too cynical to watch (right now) and don’t wanna trash on something someone loves - we like to wait and gives those requests a chance 💖
I went to see this in the cinema when it came out. And the bit when they are in a rush to get back home and they are all transforming back. I was deeply frightened 😂
I cannot describe to you how much I love this movie. I cry during the whole thing cause every shot is magic. This movie is perfect to me. It is magic. It is so beautifully done. ❤
For me this is the best live-action and from here everything go downhill. It's also the first one. Lily is a true princess. This is my first interaction with her and was magical
i think this is where i knew her from to first, despite having never seen it (I pay attention to actors and filmmakers for movies I don't even watch lol) - Rizzo
@@PinkPopcast i am the movie encyclopedia at home and my mom always ask me "how do you remember all this things?" 😁. After I watched Cinderella I learned she was in Mama mia but I've never watched it
I think the 'rizzo cried' so funny because he cries in almost every video, but that's why I adore him!!! And I'm definitely not judging as I cry with him every single time ❤
I'm so so happy you reacted to this, I'm gonna watch it a second time after work but this movie means so much to me. When I first saw it I felt I was in a similar situation, being taken advantage of by everyone and just treated like the bottom of a shoe for someone else's gain. My entire identity just turned into that, like Cinderella, a creature of ash and toil. I also felt as if I had lost my dad bc he had suddenly turned his back on me and one of the ones who treated me badly.i was stuck loving people who wouldn't love me the same or do the same for me. I just remember going to see this movie in the theater not sure what to expect, feeling like a broken person that wasn't a person anymore and I ended up in such a deep cathartic cry and had this crazy relief like.. I would be okay, it wasn't my fault and just having courage to take care of myself too and be kind into the new chapter I had to start in my life to get away from people who made me into what I was. I just left the theater feeling a million times lighter and actually happy for the first time. It's amazing how the art of film can do that 😭❤️
27:53 from my understanding she actually broke a rib or two because the corset was too tight. Theres moments in the film i can tell she had a hard time breathing when moving
the part where benji was asking questions about the film and rizzo was pretending to be the Disney company and starts pretending to slap him was freaking hilarious 😂
Love how Rizzo is such an evolved straight man. He’s actually in touch with emotions and can access them so wholeheartedly. Don’t change Riz! There are worse things you could do 😏😉
I love Cinderella and this video made my heart soar. The comparisons to other adaptations, the crying over the beginning of the movie, the bashing-the-fairytale vibes while also saying "we can't critique it it's fantasy." "Can you go ahead and recognize her for me?" as if the Prince was in a police line up! So many good questions that I've also had, and also the obsession of NOT THE DRESS but the pumpkin carriage when I was little. This was such a comfort watch, thank you!
5;46 As someone who grew up with the original telling of Beauty & the Beast, and greatly appreciated its inclusion in the live-action remake, Benji whispering "a single red rose" when Ella's father asked her what she wanted from his trip made me all 😊inside. Though of course, that then begs the question: who had it worse off? Ella, who received her branch, but got told her father took ill on the journey and passed before she could see him again? Or OG Belle, who received her rose, but learnt her father would have to sacrifice himself to a powerful Beast for it? 🤔🌿🌹
@@PinkPopcast Oh he does, but of course Belle didn't know that! She chooses to take his place to protect him, forfeiting her freedom to a powerful, scary Beast man she only knows is willing to kill her dad. And in the original fairytale, it's just them in the castle, there's no magical cast of fun characters to keep her company. Sure, it works out in the end, but one must still consider how shocking of a turn-out the request for a rose ended up being for Belle. But yeah no, she has at least one living parent compared to Ella, though depending on the version, she *does* share having terrible sisters.
I absolutely LOVE this movie, it's my favorite remake. Everything was perfect- the casting, set was realistic, score, costume design and chemistry! ❤THE DRESS WAS PERFECTION!💙💙 in my opinion... the rest don't compare. I think not keeping it a musical helped too.
@@PinkPopcast also, much love Rizzo ❤️ my dad passed almost three years ago and watching scenes with sick/dying parents gets me too. It’ll get better with time!

Damn, I saw the title and was hoping it was the Roger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella with Brandy and Whoopi Goldberg. You guys should watch that sometime, this is good too tho
it just hits me that there’s 3 parental deaths in this movie jfc lol and it still is somehow the most grounded and yet most magical live action remake out of all of them
I love this remake. It didn’t follow slavishly the cartoon but even added more character development for the Prince’s & Ella’s families. They did a smart thing by not being shackled to the songs - the one major song wasn’t even in the oroginal. I think this was one of their most successfully done live action remake, if not the best one. ❤

Check out Bella Mae Designs who tried to recreate it. It is quite a journey.

Cate blanchete, helen bonham carter, the whole list of actors is incrediable and they all knocked it out of the park
I grew up on the original carton version so its close to my heart but i truly love this one more then the original!
Cinderella in gereal is one of my favorute princesses. Courage and Kindness can solve many a peoples problems. Thats why its a part of the mantra i have my daughters tell themselves every morning " i am strong, i am brave, i am loved, i am kind"
Loved seeing Rizzo shed some tears, i get emotional every time i watch this movie as well
It’s so beautiful for ALL OF THE ABOVE reasons 👆🏽
Lady Tremaine's hats were really EXTRA 😂
💅🏾
Oooo Rizzo! Someone hug him!
🫂
I volunteer as tribute!
"One more surprise: my footman is a lizard" 😂😂 I don't know why I laughed so har at this
39:13 AAAAAAAAA don’t do this to us 😂
(But it’s all worth it for Rizzo’s goofy smile)
Always 😜
A Cinderella Story is the clear winner of all Cinderella adaptations, but close runners up are Ella Enchanted, Ever After and Cinderella (1997).
EVER AFTER all the way!!
I haven't seen it in years, but I always had a weak spot for _Three Nuts for Cinderella._
@@PinkPopcast obviously you've seen it, but I would *love* a Ever After watch along with you guys!!! #reactingtomoviesyouveseen100timeschallenge 😂
@@PinkPopcast pls watch cinderella 1997!!!
"The birds go ROOKOO ROOKOO! There's blood in the shoe!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Man that took me out! Benji is HISTERICAL!😂🤣😂🤣😂
🩸🩸🩸
40:20 cinderella was my favourite OG princess (probably just because her dress was blue) and I was so happy that DIsney gave it a good remake
Such a good remake and solid choice!
Her original dress is silver
I saw this film two weeks after my father died. It was the first time I went out since and I brought my little cousins. I tried to hold it in but started to cry when I got in the car. This film hits so different when you lose a parent. When Rizzo cries I cry . I know it hit him hard. I am using the Disney slap next time my friends question anything in a film! No one does more entertaining and heartfelt reactions than the Pink Popcast. So deserving of 💯 thousand subscribers. I know this channel will continue to grow.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
i would love to see you guys react to mamma mia and mamma mia here we go again. super fun, campy, unhinged, plus bops and himbos
ETA: rizzo would probably cry at both too
I haven’t seen EITHER of those! 🫣
YES!!! If you love joy, watch the Mamma Mias!
I'm glad you watched this one instead of the "musical" one
You mean the Camilla Cabella one!? 🤢🤮
@@PinkPopcast yess🤢🤢🤮
Its supersweet🥰✨️
Whitney and brandys Cinderella will always be my favorite but this is a close second
My personal:
1: Ever After
2: Cinderella (1950)
3: Brandy Cinderella
4: Cinderella (2015)
5: A Cinderella Story
BUT I LOVE ALL OF THEM SO MUCH!
@@PinkPopcast Have you guys watched A Cinderella Story on the channel? Was my favorite behind Brandy's back in the day
It's interesting that Kenneth Branagh directed this and cast Helena Bonham Carter in it.
23:15 y'all cut the scene so i don't even know how my brain made that connection but the bow she gave on top of the stairs made me think of yuja wang and her bows, just like, deeply grateful
I know I wish we could post the full reactions here 😭
This was the best Disney live action, it had everthing, good costumes, good cgi, beautiful soundtrack, and they added some story that didn't s* on the original...
They had a deep respect for the original 1950’s cartoon!
I just love how they didn’t change the story but expanded on things people had a problem with in the original
This is my favourite rendition of Cinderella. Don't blame Rizzo for the waterworks (I cry with him literally every reaction)
16:48 the mean girl audio was perfect 😂
i love that you guys don’t just do trendy stuff. but stuff u actually wanna see 💗💗💗
Thank you so much! We always try to stick with films that will draw the best from us too! There have been some films or shows that people have requested that I know deep down I’m too cynical to watch (right now) and don’t wanna trash on something someone loves - we like to wait and gives those requests a chance 💖
@@PinkPopcast so smart!!
Omgggg I’m so obsessed with this movie , loved your reaction 🥹🎀🫶🏽🫧
It's so good!❤️❤️
🫶🏽🫧
I went to see this in the cinema when it came out. And the bit when they are in a rush to get back home and they are all transforming back. I was deeply frightened 😂
It’s intense lol
I cannot describe to you how much I love this movie.
I cry during the whole thing cause every shot is magic.
This movie is perfect to me. It is magic. It is so beautifully done. ❤
It’s so magical yes!!!
✨✨💖✨💖✨✨
Dnt worry Rizzo, I Cried With you🥲❤️😂 Great Watch My Pop Kings👑💖
“Pop Kings” I love that! 🙌🏽👑
And I'm definitely not judging as I cry with him every single time ❤
😂😂❤️❤️
It's amazing how the art of film can do that 😭❤️
The power of movies is amazing, so glad that this movie was able to help you ❤️❤️❤️
THE RIZZO SLAP. tysm.
👋🏽💥
Fun Fact: The wedding dress worn in the end had replicas made & sold by Alfred Angelo
not rizzo crying and me crying as well because we are, as we call it in portuguese, two manteigas derretidas (melted butters, in literal translation)

27:53 from my understanding she actually broke a rib or two because the corset was too tight. Theres moments in the film i can tell she had a hard time breathing when moving
Not worth it! She is gorgeous without the risk lol
@@PinkPopcast exactly! Idk why!
5:48 Ella's answer was actually from the original Cinderella Grimm
the part where benji was asking questions about the film and rizzo was pretending to be the Disney company and starts pretending to slap him was freaking hilarious 😂
😂😂
wasn't Richard Madden's character King in the North in GoT? so he was kind of royalty in that too. 👍🏾
Love how Rizzo is such an evolved straight man. He’s actually in touch with emotions and can access them so wholeheartedly. Don’t change Riz! There are worse things you could do 😏😉
😂😂 nice!
I remember seeing this movie in theaters and of all the Disney live action remakes so far, this one has remained my favorite
Did not expect that many Dune references in a cinderella reaction but I'm definitely not complaining
🪱🪱🪱
🏜️🏜️🏜️
Doesn’t Belle’s dad survive tho???
@@PinkPopcast Oh he does, but of course Belle didn't know that! She chooses to take his place to protect him, forfeiting her freedom to a powerful, scary Beast man she only knows is willing to kill her dad. And in the original fairytale, it's just them in the castle, there's no magical cast of fun characters to keep her company. Sure, it works out in the end, but one must still consider how shocking of a turn-out the request for a rose ended up being for Belle. But yeah no, she has at least one living parent compared to Ella, though depending on the version, she *does* share having terrible sisters.
17:43 High-time we had a Patti LuPone as a Fairy Godmother.
That would be a gay icon!
The dress WAS perfect 💙
@@PinkPopcast also, much love Rizzo ❤️ my dad passed almost three years ago and watching scenes with sick/dying parents gets me too. It’ll get better with time!
@@pichiicreates me too… my dad died suddenly and tragically right before my 30th birthday, I adored him and that scene with kit especially crushes me every time ❤️🩹❤️🩹
Y'all had me cracking up this entire video🤣🤣🤣🤣 The Fairy God Mother and Lizard footman reiterations were hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Gotta go grow another butt
@@PinkPopcast 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Damn, I saw the title and was hoping it was the Roger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella with Brandy and Whoopi Goldberg. You guys should watch that sometime, this is good too tho
We grew up watching that classic so it wouldn’t be a “First-Time Reaction” but we do absolutely LOVE it so it will eventually be rewatched! 😇
it just hits me that there’s 3 parental deaths in this movie jfc lol and it still is somehow the most grounded and yet most magical live action remake out of all of them
Speaking of Kenneth Branagh, you have to see ‘Belfast’ and ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.
Neither!!!! 👀
Omg seconding "Much Ado"! EVERYONE is sun kissed, and EVERYONE is SO beautiful!!!
It's one of my go-tos if I'm feeling sad or sick
I love this remake. It didn’t follow slavishly the cartoon but even added more character development for the Prince’s & Ella’s families. They did a smart thing by not being shackled to the songs - the one major song wasn’t even in the oroginal. I think this was one of their most successfully done live action remake, if not the best one. ❤
2:46 "The two Cs of ruling the world - courage and kindness" 😂😂
I searched your channel not too long ago to see if you've reacted to the Brandy version of Cinderella.
Omg we definitely will now!!! 😭🫣
