I'm so grateful that even in the early 2000s the writer didn't gave Vivian an arc that wrote her off as Warner's villain fiance. She outgrows that plot point and has a real arc.

A great moment is when she’s debating Warner in hypotheticals in Callahan’s clas about the guy that suddenly wants paternal rights over a kid from donated sperm and she came up with counter that each one of his masturbatory emissions could be considered reckless abandonment.

I don't think it's not just people not giving her enough credit.
She's probably got a photographic memory. But because she's so privileged, she's rich and pretty and so loved, she never had to prove herself. So she never had to apply herself.

And even Warner, it is more clear in it that he actually loves his life with Elle (not her because he's a narcissist) and he has not been malevolently using her but more like his parents pressure him into becoming a serious lawyer, but he would honestly would have preferred to be a rich losangelino that doesn't do shit and hangs with his pretty and bubbly girlfriend that never challenges him. It's more tragic, thinking he also wants her back (even if for unhealthy, egotistical reasons) but he's too much of a coward to let go of societal expectations.

I like that you both are honest when you have watched a movie & you both are still so hilariously entertaining to watch. I often dislike a lot of other reaction channels, because they are always like "First time reacting to...who is this....Michael Jackson? Okay let's listen to this song for the first time ever. WOW! This is good! 😮😮😮" Like omfg 😂

I have seen this movie dozens of times over the years and just a few months ago someone pointed out to me that Warner and Vivian probably aren't rushing into their engagement at all... am I the only one who thought that? Not in the way people (/me) think.
    Anyways.
Warner explains that they were a couple before and rebounded when he got into Harvard. But it is more likely that they were on a "break" instead of leading a long distance relationship while he was in California. But if they always meant to get back together, Elle is basically Warner's side chick.

In reference to 26:25 - No, that's not usually the procedure to dismiss your counsel. The Defense Client would need to submit a motion to dismiss her legal counsel due to ethical reasons or other misconduct. Then, she would need to petition that Elle represent her just as it was done when she was allowed. Normally, she might need to prove her competency to the judge in a sufficient manner to allow her to represent her, even as supervised. So, this proceeding would have been continued pending those motions more than likely.

I think the way they first present all the women (and men honestly) in this movie is through the eyes of men or society, before peeling back the layers and seeing them for what or who they truly are...
    That's very intelligent...😁
