She didn't do out Mirina because she thought that she could get Colin instead. Pen had his best interests at heart. In fact, by ruining Mirina's chance with Colin Penelope ruined herself and her entire family, as well, knowing that the truth would stop any chance of Pen ever being with him. Not that she thought she had a chance in the first place. She just didn't want Colin to be used so badly. Pen was Mirina's genuine friend and it broke her heart to have to choose between saving Colin and protecting Mirina's secret. That was why she finally went to Eloise in tears that night after writing the next day's column denouncing Mirina's character.
That being said, I do not think Mirina is a bad person. She was young and her view and experiences in the world had taught her that no one would help her or be there for her. She had no other role models than older people like her father and Lady Featherington to look to for guidance. She suffered their their indifference and abandonment as best she could while trying to hold out hope that George would come for her, then thinking he abandoned her like everyone else. With no other alternative she was a good girl who was manipulated into a corner by people who didn't care enough about her show her anything different. As a result she made a very poor decision by trying to trick Colin into marrying her. Marina did what she thought was best for her baby. Penelope did what she thought was best for Colin no matter the personal cost to herself i.e. giving up any hope that she, herself, would ever be able to be with him.

Additionally, it is worth noting that Penny held that secret for a very long time, and only outed Marina when she made it clear she neither valued Penny as a friend or a person at all. :( I don't blame Penny, though nor do I totally despise Marina for feeling she had to do what she did. The whole situation was messed and both did what they felt was right for those they cared about.
Penelope could’ve done several other things in lieu of airing out their dirty laundry out to everyone in society. She could’ve given Marina an ultimatum to either confess to Colin or she will, or she also could’ve just informed Colin and his family in private. Both of those would’ve gotten the job done. But of course, if she were to have done those, there still would’ve been the chance that Colin would still marry Marina and raise the baby as his own despite knowing the truth. By exposing Marina, Pen ensured that Colin could never marry Marina now even if he wanted to go along with the baby ruse. She fucked up Marina’s chance to get security and a good life for her baby. Not to mention she made an outcast of her own family while her mother is trying to do her duty of marrying her daughters off. Pen was so fucking heinous for that, and while I love the character, she certainly doesn’t get any of my sympathy.

Even when Colin was saying he would have married her anyway and he loved her, she didn't say it in return because she was only using him. Pen's decision was either betray Colin and the Bridgerton's or Marina, and her loyalty to the Bridgerton's won.
I knew almost immediately it was Penelope after the pregnancy scandal. I was almost as passionate as Eloise explaining why to a friend who was watching with me but I let her talk me down. We practically had the same reaction as y'll at the end.
I honestly wish they had kept on alluding to it, But then never revealed. Then in S2 we find out when Eloise finds out. I think the shock would have been better.

@@Digital111 I was surprised too, but I didn't even know there were books when I watched season 1. Anyone who searches a spoiler deserves whatever reveal they find. They could have easily searched that on episode 4 before the reveal in season 1 if they were that curious, yet the reveal managed to surprise us all so I'm sure most of us could have all been clueless throughout the next few seasons. They could have also diverged from cannon and made someone else Wistledown if they truly wanted. I don't really care that they revealed Penelope in season 1 though (that wasn't my point), I care that Eloise found out so early. I honestly just hope whoever is writing this show has read the books in their entirety and has a plan for navigating this. There is a reason Eloise never finds out in the books after all.

They are so adorable and endearing, Daphne's wedding night is so beautiful, perfect and intimate, it's like they're both on fire and at the same time everything is so pure and tender. Is unforgettable. Regé is so talented and distinguished, he is perfect for the role of Simon, the best Duke, I can't imagine a better Duke than him, I'm glad he won the role, he fit like a glove in it. I miss him in this series... I started the series because of him and Daphne, for me without them the series is not so captivating and hot, they could appear more often. Anthony appeared the whole 1 season, cuz Simon and Not Daphne?! Season 1my favorite.

Just finished S2. And I still couldn't get enough of my favorite characters, Eloise and Penelope. Patiently waiting for their respective romance stories.
I feel like I'm the only one waiting for them to have a romance together, it'd be so cute and an enemies to lovers arc too

So nervous for season two that I've literally had more than one dream about it airing.
As we're on the cusp of season three, I've started having nervous Bridgerton dreams again.

Phillip Hamilton (19) was shot and killed in a duel against George Eacker (about 27) after Eacker dishonored (talked shit about) Philips father. In the musical Eacker shot earlier than supposed to. Others say Eacker, following suit of Philip, did not shoot once they counted to 10. For the first minute, both men stood, doing nothing. After a minute, Eacker finally raised his pistol, and Philip did the same. Eacker shot and struck Philip above his right hip and it supposedly lodged in his arm.
That was in November of 1801.
In July of 1804, was when burr duels Hamilton. There are conflicting accounts about what actually happened. It is uncertain who fired first and whether Hamilton missed on purpose or whether he shot wide after (possibly involuntarily) discharging his pistol when hit by Burr. Regardless, Burr was unhurt, but Hamilton was fatally wounded and died the next day. (About 36 hours later, so while he was probably in pain, he at least got to say goodbye to his family).

Another period show but it’s more of a dark comedic take on Catherine The Great’s journey to leading a successful coup on her husband and taking his empire from him. I loved to watch you both watching Bridgerton!!!! Today I have already seen season 2. And I think season 1 is better. I loved the Duke. He is gorgeous!!! And I think Regé acts better as a lover and sensible man than Bailey. And take a new look at the Daphne wedding night: the most beautiful, romantic and poetic sensual movie scene I've ever watched!!! And I have seen so many!!!!

They are so adorable and endearing, Daphne's wedding night is so beautiful, perfect and intimate, it's like they're both on fire and at the same time everything is so pure and tender. Is unforgettable. Regé is so talented and distinguished, he is perfect for the role of Simon, the best Duke, I can't imagine a better Duke than him, I'm glad he won the role, he fit like a glove in it. I miss him in this series... I started the series because of him and Daphne, for me without them the series is not so captivating and hot, they could appear more often. Anthony appeared the whole 1 season, cuz Simon and Not Daphne?! Season 1my favorite.

His last name is Basset. He's the Duke of Hastings. Even with a different last name he would still be the Duke of Hastings.
He could renounce the title, yeah. It would be disappointing in the sense that it hasn't been that long since people who aren't white started to have the titles, but his not fathering children has the same result. It would also put a lot of people out of work.
