Why does this channel only have 43k subscribers? This is better than all of Peter McKinnon’s, Willem Verbeeck’s, Matt Day’s, and all other photography-based channels combined. You deserve millions of subscribers. I don’t get it. Thanks for putting out such quality content; you’re always an inspiration. Keep up the great work! 👌📷🎞️ Greetings from Austria
It’s probably because they make videos more often than Mike does. I always look forward to Mike’s videos but sometimes it’s some long breaks between videos.
Absolutely, 100% correct. Photography is no different than any other endeavor. To get better, you have to keep shooting. I’m looking forward to the book.
Man I really wish I could be at the show but I moved back to Houston recently and I’m no longer in LA (trying to move back this coming May). I’ve loved your videos for a long time now. You inspired me to get a Pentax 67 myself. I haven’t shot a ton with it but so far I love it.
Amazing shots, again - loooove your work. Could you consider showing what all goes into a single shot? How much time between two images, what to prep what to adjust? How much changing details? I was shooting with a model the other day, and it was like "every three seconds a different pose", creating some 400 (different) digital images in one evening - and I have that feeling that this is not something you ever do with your 67 or your Hasselblad, lol, just joking... I much prefer your way and style but always feel pushed to hurry to not get the model bored... Maybe in some other video one day?
@@MikeGrayFilm You have been one of my favourite photographers who makes videos for a long time, been around since you were making videos with tyler shields. Would have been to the exhibit but I based in Geneva, Switzerland. If you ever over here would be super cool to shoot together, for now I will keep supporting the vision.
Love the setting and the model (a lot of the film channels are just dudes shooting hills, ponds, and abandoned houses - models are far more interesting! lol)... Side note: how are you scanning this film? Are you doing it yourself or taking it to some overpriced lab like Icon LA?
Damn the shade is real haha. I appreciate you though. I usually go to my lab THAT I LOVE The Icon haha. But these I got done quick at a lab by my house to test out their scans. 🙌🏾
@@MikeGrayFilm It's no shade to you lol. I'm thankful for Icon because they are one of the few labs that still process E-6, even here in Tinseltown. But those scan prices are way too high, especially if you compare it to when places like A&I (on Highland) existed. They're kinda taking advantage of the scarcity of film resources now.
Hey Mike - how did you process the film - did you go Normal, or did you push it, or.... Great to see you last night at the show! Everything looked beautiful!
Hey Mike. Where have you been finding all your great models lately? I normally use Model Mayhem but it’s kind of dried up over the last few years. Do you have other sources?
Hey mike! What's your aperture and focal length on that kind of images? I have a RZ67 but always end up having a too shallow DoF. Do you think a Godox AD200 with a beauty dish or softbox would be enough to get some decent depth of field (say about 15 or 20 inches) indoors with not so much ambiant light (I have the 50mm, 110mm, 140mm and 180mm)
These are nice. I am strictly an outdoor Schooter for my work but if I go to a photoworkshop it is usually indoors. I hate the stereotypical muslin background paper . It is boring and done before. So I will look for a space in the studio that has character like the place you were at and a space in the studio that is different.

I appreciate your support Peter 🙌🏾
This channel is amazing! Love it. There’s some other great channels out there though. But as far as the ones you mentioned yes this one is better
You can give love to Mike and his beautiful art without putting other people down!

@@armonakil those channels are basically gear commercials. And they’re very good and making it seem like they’re not.
I can’t get over how amazing these images are. I love your work! True talent and skill 😎
Thank you so much
I cant get over how amazing these pics are ... amazing work

Great video as always Mike. Is the Pentax 67 still your favorite medium format film camera for portraits?
Thanks a lot Jay. It definitely is!
Love your channel. I hope i can make the exhibition.
Thanks so much!
Hey Mike - how did you process the film - did you go Normal, or did you push it, or.... Great to see you last night at the show! Everything looked beautiful!
I processed at box speed. Thanks so much Ken! Thanks to you and the @iconla for doing such an amazing job
Hey Mike. Where have you been finding all your great models lately? I normally use Model Mayhem but it’s kind of dried up over the last few years. Do you have other sources?
They are all in my network of friends for the most part!

These images I mainly shot on the 90mm lens at 5.6!
Mad skills, super creative and drop dead gorgeous…………..you decided who was what :/
I appreciate you for watching!
question, did you shoot the cinestill 800t at box speed or did you rate it for 400?
I used it at box speed
