I would suggest that the Horse + put up a shopping list of lower cost items you can use that individual small donors might be able to purchase. I'd love to be able to buy an ultrasound machine, but I'm better able to buy a jar of wound cream or pay for a standard hoof tune-up. Please let us know about the small stuff, and you'll end up with more money for the big stuff.
Bob Barker was so passionate about spaying and neutering, I know he would be so happy that his money is going towards achieving exactly what he wanted. ❤
Oh, Pooh.. you are such a handsome boy and don't deserve what life you've been given..at Horse Plus you have now known love probably for the first time in your young life..safe passage over the 🌈 bridge little man...Fly High..Shine Bright ✨️🌃🌠🌟
I am so sorry that Pooh is not going to make it!! I respect your decision to not let him suffer with his life long condition which would have made his life miserable. At least he knew love and affection and good care and comfort while he was with you. RIP Pooh. ❤❤❤🙌🏻
It will be good for the Vets to have the barking dogs out of the barn. It will help them concentrate and communicate with other staff better. Thank you Connie for your great donation so the staff can get a new ultrasound machine! That's just wonderful and so gracious! I know Dr. Lydia has been struggling since she started working at Horse + years ago. Also, welcome back Justin! I worked at a horse surgical center. It's amazing how big horse eyeballs are! The Vet's kept several in jars in of a preservative solution. Can't remember what it was.
My eyes lit up when I saw Pooh, what a beauty. Thanks to the vets for caring for him and staying strong to give him the last act of kindness, I know that it takes an emotional toll.
I looked at a lovely horse last year for sale, but the owners initially did not say he had sarcoids. As I inspected his body there were at least 10 sites and appeared to be 3 or 4 different varieties. My sympathy was for the horse, hoping he would get appropriate care.
Also Kanuka honey (not to be confused with Manuka) is from New Zealand and excellent for actinic keratosis. My dermatologist recommended it to me. I use Kanuka as a DIY facial about one a week.
I love what you guys do God bless you all and keep up the good work on getting the slaughter pipeline shut down. I can't offer any funds all I can do is offer prayers and share.
Keep going to Washington and the best of luck. It's taken nearly 50 years to ban live exports of all animals here in the UK, but we've done it! No more suffering animals on long journeys to hell. X
Your growth and acquisitions over the past year are truly impressive! It is reflective of the effective and fine work you are doing. Applause to all of you for your tireless, seamless work!
❤❤God bless Connie with her matching gift donation for the much needed Vet equipment ❤❤ such a gift ensures better health management for all the horses, dogs and cats! Those adjustable tables will save the Vets from back pain.a big thank you and hip, hip, horray to Connie!❤❤
These vets are amazing! Dr Lydia I hope stays forever. I know burnout could be high - get her some noise cancelling headphones to help with the barking dogs I saw people talking about? I haven’t gotten that far in yet.
I would have to have noise cancelling headphones. I love dogs but all that barking would make me crazy. No judgement to the dogs or horse plus. Dogs bark. I just know my nervous system would be in tatters.
Bless you all for your had work to save these precious horses and donkeys. So sad for Pooh, but you all did your best for him, and he has known love and kindness thanks to you. So happy Cleopatra is doing so well, she's a beauty. Exciting to see progresson the spay and neuter clinic, Bob Barker would be proud.
Thanks to the greed of the auctions that kicked them out, it was the catalyst that gave the legal efforts the extra OOOMMPH it needed, to put an END to horse slaughter! Way to go Horse Plus Team!!!
Angela, don't do like I did most of my life! No heavy lifting! Get a dolly to help you with those heavy, awkward boxes. Hi Heroes, perfect start to my day with a new video!
Oh Jason, I'm feeling the pain of having all four wisdoms done at once. Had mine done at 16yo; and then went out the next day with a very bruised and swollen face. Take care.
That Spay/ Neuter clinic is HUGE. I love that you are reaching out to make Big changes in the animal world, not just putting a Band-Aid on the ones you can get your hands onto. Preventing unwanted pregnancies is huge. Same with the horses, Gelding every one possible helps cut down on the over abundance of horses that might fall through the cracks. Good job Horse Plus Humane staff.
Oh gosh I love you all so much. I wish we had someone here in SA who do similar to your auctions and take any horses they don't want to be fed to our CANNED Lions which is another horrific situation we have here.
@@AsheTheRedScout That is terrible and disgusting. What bored , rich ppl won't do these days. I simply don't understand their mindset ... that animals are expendable; expendable into extinction, that is. Remember the dodo bird?
I am a retired nurse and worked with lots of wound care. If a wound is really infected I used water pressure to cleanse and debride. Then calcium alginate to pull the infection out of wound and change it twice daily until infection is cleared. Water baths will heal after infection is gone.
AAAH! 10:00 Hi Marty Irby! So glad you've talked with him! Marty is the best! A man who TRULY wants to help horses. I've known him for a long time, and he is a true ally to have!
HP, thanx SO much for pushing federal horse welfare on Washington cuz VA needs it too! 🏆💗 And thanx for all your work, HP! I worry about all the "irons you have in the fire at once", that youre spreading yourself too thin..praying youll have enough people to work it out evenly..🤔
That was so sad for Pooh he didn't deserve that he should have been able to enjoy his life with someone to love him. So unfair for that precious little donkey. 💔😭
You guys are amazing, your hearts are so big and kind. Would you please work on getting laws passed that punish abusers of animals, put an end to what bad humans do to animals.
So sorry for Pooh.So is HPHS going to have to test all the horses that came on same trailer for his tumors to rule out the possibility of others carrying it?
Pooh deserved better care or surrendered and instead HP did their best. Just imagine Pooh being skinned in Mexico. The Bills must pass to stop exporting. I'm excited for the future dog shelter and stoping unnecessary breeding. It would be great if local vet's gave half a day of their time once a month to spay and neuter. We created that schedule for ours and with only three extra vet's we stopped 576 annual breedings with them volunteering.
What an action packed episode! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Special thanks to the generous donor funding the new ultrasound machine. Can’t wait to see all the horses it benefits.
Poor Pooh! But thank God you don’t even out of the pipeline so he didn’t keep going through and having a miserable life. Thank you for loving him with a little bit the good that you do for them!❤😊❤
Wow, I love waking up on a Friday morning to watch my weekly dose of HSH. My one criticism would be to please play more horse content. In this week's video the first 12 minutes were talking. Whilst I love all the talking and the vets descriptions are amazing, perhaps you could extend your videos to show more horses? I love watching them being fed in the morning, groomed, trained etc! You could even have a live cam just on the 10-acre pasture - I'd have that on all the time!
That's terrible news about poor Pooh, but at least he has responsible owners who will do the hard part to prevent his future suffering. Situations like this are the hardest decisions that I have faced as a pet owner. It's never an easy decision to make, but it is much harder when the animal is not in immediate distress and you have to base your decision on the suffering that lies ahead. Pooh's situation is even more complicated due to the possibility of it being infectious to others. It's just the worst set of circumstances for all involved especially with him being so young and all the effort you put into saving him. I'm so thankful he came to you guys where he'll no doubt be loved on through his final breath here. I also can't help thinking about how many cases like his have shown up at horse sales across the country. How many horses are exposed to various diseases at sales. I think everyone realizes the risk of the more common infectious diseases like strangles that are not uncommon in horses that have been through some auctions, but there are others that are even more devastating. When you think about all these horses that have multiple auction tags on them from different states and are stressed from traveling, lack of proper medical care and nutrition along the way, it really is a miracle that more don't get sicker than they do and spread it to others at every stop.
🐎I saw so many beautiful horses today at the shelter.🐴 Good ol' Bob I keep saying to myself. 🐈🎉🐶What a saint he is if ever there was one. 🐱🪷🐕And Carol I think, I'm so bad about rembering names, with the XRay donation matching donor working on her wings as well..lol....💥such wonderful people 😀 they sure warm my heart ❤️ 💖
❤I was wondering, and perhaps I missed it, but where is the other vet that was going to the auctions, I believe her name was Dr. Nancey ? Again, just wondering.
Will you have a night locker scheme. Where people can abandon their dogs. Hate that they abandon the dogs but better than just dumping them on the road.😢 Or taken and left at fire station.
Or sponsor one of those mobile massage therapists to come to Horse Plus regularly and do 30 minute massages for as many folks as possible (the vets should be first priority!)
@karenneill9109 Yes, that bottom of his leg was swinging loose and was actually walking on the ankle!! It looked like it had been doing that for a while, too. I just get SO ANGRY at the owner who should have made that decision whenever it happened rather than try and get the last few dollars out of the poor animal.. how anyone can think it's OK to transport to an auction and to slaughter is not right in the head.. That's why those two acts that Tawnee and Jason are trying to get put into law..the Safe act and the Past act..it upset me about poor Pooh the donkey 🫏 too..his owners had probably got the news from their vet so they shoved him off to auction or worst..makes me so mad..it hurts watching some of the intake when they're clearly I. So much pain..just breaks my heart 💔
Question: can animals receive corneal transplants from donor animals? When euthanizing can not the cornea be removed to use in blind eyes of survivors? I was thinking in particular Takota's situation.

Good idea but remember small gift cards add up, anything helps
Hey, if you look in the description, they have an Amazon wish list.
Plus in the auction videos, if everyone just gave 5.00, that would help so much! Hope that helps.

Poo is just the cutest little one I have seen. So sad about the outcome.
For the horse with the open wound that is not healing,.... Manuka honey? Vikings used it for its antibacterial properties and help closing wounds.

Great episode, even without any adoptions.
My Mom would get horses home from auction and fix them. You guys are doing a great job
Oh Jason, I'm feeling the pain of having all four wisdoms done at once. Had mine done at 16yo; and then went out the next day with a very bruised and swollen face. Take care.
I had mine taken out too. It’s not fun at all. They took them out and then I got braces a few months later. Not a fun time.
Thanks again for all you do for all the animals!
Thank you so much for being there for the horses in America
God bless all of you.
You need more land for grass and to have rotating patures and let pastures rest with reseeding for food.

Canned Lions?
@Susan-il1fv for canned "hunting" where people pay top dollar to shoot caged animals like lions, wolves and Tigers. It's a horrific thing.

Goosh! Have the Agr cops gotten loose and are on the run to you to get fixt so they turn into good citizens??? Wouldnt that be fun for the vet crew 😂
