@@hangemhigh3578 My theory (pure speculation) is that some Americans saw the beautiful Friesian horses in Europe (breed used by knights and royalty) and wanted to imitate their natural high gait with their own local American breeds using unnatural means.
@@hangemhigh3578 From wikipedia: "Saddle seat riding began as a distinct style within the broader group of English riding disciplines developed in the United States. The first source was the Plantation tradition of the American South, where smooth-moving, high-stepping horses were used by plantation owners and overseers to travel across the fields. The horses had to be smooth riding and comfortable enough for hours of riding while overseeing the plantation, but the owners also preferred an impressive, high-stepping horse for riding in town. A second influence was European: a flatter English show saddle was developed from the tradition of riders who would often show off their flashiest, highest-stepping horses by riding them in city parks on Sundays. Hence, the term "park horse" is still used today to describe competitions in which the action of the horse is of paramount importance. In the northern United States, showing high-stepping horses in a flat park-style saddle at fairs was one way breeders would promote their horses." And: "Equitation: Saddle seat is a style of English riding that differs considerably from other styles such as hunt seat and dressage. To the casual observer the rider sits well back in the saddle, carrying his or her hands higher than in other disciplines. Riders in equitation classes are penalized for leaning forward to any significant degree. However, like any other riding discipline, the position of the rider reflects the desired position of the horse. The rider must make the riding look effortless, and stay still and well-formed on the horse, sitting upright, with shoulders back and posting that is graceful and quiet. In saddle seat, high-stepping gaits are required of the horses shown, and the rider's position, behind the center of balance of the animal, allows the riding aids to be used to encourage front leg action in the horse."

An idea for the group of visiting shelter folk.... Assemble a bunch of profiles of past equines. Horses, donkeys, hinneys and mules. Use real profiles! Mariale was an owner surrender Pokey was purchased at auction Stevie was a seizure by law enforcement Include their ages, their condition, problems, positives, temperament and training....but do it in stages, the way you find out in evaluation. Finish up with what happened to each critter....like last act of kindness, transferred, adopted or even just still waiting Got 30 people coming? Have 60 some-odd capsules prepared and each attendee draws just one
So many adoptions, it makes my heart happy 😁. Doesn't baby Dolly have to be weaned before she can go to an adopter? I think you said someone is interested in her. So much cool stuff happening at HP 🥰
Theoretically it is possible to adopt before the weaning, foal just stays with mom until then. I don't know the details and how would manage it at Horseplus. Having an adopter lined up would surely be a relief. I would love to have that foal but I can't afford to right now so...anyway.

“How amazing that Silhouette has hope to see again, thanks to her new guardian! I would love to see how that works out.”
The safe act was passed here in NY so I truly hope it will be adopted in all states ❤❤
Big lick is abuse 🤔
I want to know which demon thought it up! What is the history of this evil practice.
@@hangemhigh3578 My theory (pure speculation) is that some Americans saw the beautiful Friesian horses in Europe (breed used by knights and royalty) and wanted to imitate their natural high gait with their own local American breeds using unnatural means.
@@hangemhigh3578 From wikipedia:
"Saddle seat riding began as a distinct style within the broader group of English riding disciplines developed in the United States. In the northern United States, showing high-stepping horses in a flat park-style saddle at fairs was one way breeders would promote their horses."
And:
"Equitation: Saddle seat is a style of English riding that differs considerably from other styles such as hunt seat and dressage.
@rccyberwarrior2267 sounds like pure EGO. Thanks for the history. It's absolutely horrible they can't appreciate the natural world.
@@rccyberwarrior2267the breed has a naturally upslope posture and high stepping gait, but Big Lick exaggerates this to an extreme.
Thank you for saving these beautiful animals… ❤
Dr. Lydia is a BOSS. And she’s turning Dr. Gina into a clone. I am turning 13:21 green over the education both Gina AND Hailey (Welcome) are getting. Even though they are at different levels. Both will be challenged by Dr Lydia. Time will fly. Push the envelope and just click things off. You’ll be surprised how fast you FLY.
The TWH's owners can still have their shows, and can make even more money. Of course that means they'll have to unlearn 40 years of bull shit.
So glad the semi blind horse hot adopted 😊
I love the paint job!! You all are amazing!
Brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT - in EVERY possible way! Loved that video. Tawnee, you and your Team have made history with the big lick. It will cease to exist because of your tenacity, determination and sheer passion to end this brutality. Was so AWESOME to see the adoptions, the constructions going on, the interns and all the precious souls you house and take such good care of x
Thank you to all of those who made the protest. Thank you for your courage.
Big shout out and many thanks to the lady that adopted Silhouette.

An idea for the group of visiting shelter folk....
Assemble a bunch of profiles of past equines. Horses, donkeys, hinneys and mules.
Use real profiles!
Mariale was an owner surrender
Pokey was purchased at auction
Stevie was a seizure by law enforcement
Include their ages, their condition, problems, positives, temperament and training....but do it in stages, the way you find out in evaluation.
Finish up with what happened to each critter....like last act of kindness, transferred, adopted or even just still waiting
Got 30 people coming? Have 60 some-odd capsules prepared and each attendee draws just one
Efficacious and oscillatious. Love learning new vocabulary from Dr. Lydia
Is this the new BIG LICK? Almost everyone also rides with very hard hands.
Scottsdale Arabian Horse HA/AA English Pleasure Championship
This has been around TN for many many years..
She know she’s lost but she doesn’t understand that the horses win! Just spoiled childlike behaviour!
Stop Big Lick now!
??
Awesome community involvement at your place. Love to see this.
I would love to have that foal but I can't afford to right now so...anyway.
thank you another amazing program
I really enjoying watching you two working on the land. With all the babies right beside you eating all the leaves and grass around you. Good luck on the hatching the guineas. Wishing you both the best in everything to plan to do. Hope the garden is coming along great.❤🐐🐕🤘
K & S Get out comment??
Fingers crossed this finally comes to fruition! GREAT job y'all!
I can't wait!!!
Was going to say this earlier, but I feel like I won’t sleep right if I don’t…so hope you will read this comment. You need to get security for yourself. Plz listen. You’re such a sweet person and I just don’t want you to underestimate what those people are capable of. And not just a bit of whip during day time. Not living in fear is one thing but being proactive and just aware of your surroundings is another. You’ve been a proverbial thorn in their butts for a while but they were still making their money, now when their wallets are affected, they can get vicious. Please protect yourself🙏❤️❤️❤️
Lynn is such a sweetheart
You guys are doing a great job for the horse big lick need to stop for the horse 🐎 it is to stop for the horse Nanette 🐎
Painting pickets is a chore for the hearty!! Good job!
Loved the vets teaching horse anatomy to the Girl Scouts. Drs Lydia and Gina explained everything so clearly for them.
