    Also, except for flax oil, vegetable oils have a ratio high in omega-6's and low in Omega-3's, which can cause degenerative health issues as well. The problem with rancid PUFA's is that they form what's called lipid peroxides in the body. Think of peroxides as the opposite of antioxidants. Peroxides are like gasoline being thrown onto a free-radical fire. Over time, the resultant free-radical storms can take a toll on cell membranes, delicate DNA/RNA strands, and the on the endothelium.

    Fun fact:
    There isn't a plant called "Canola".
    Canola stands for: Canadian Oil Low Acid.
    Canola oil it's made from the Rapeseed (Brassica napus subsp. napus) plant from the family of the mustards.
    This oil in its pure state contains an acid that is toxic for humans, to make this oil edible it has to go through a lot o processes.
    This process of getting the acid to a lower degree is suposedly invented in Canada, hence the name "Canadian Oil Low Acid".

    • @sd8313

      Wait. You made me laugh so loud that my neighbor woke up. Honestly the acid isn't even eliminated, it's Canadian Oil Low Acid meaning it's only low, but not eliminated. and we ask why people die of strange diseases. Are you guys aware of Codex Alimentarius? It's a code that prohibits shipment of high density nutritious foods internationally. They re-introduced a number of chemicals that had been banned from use because they were so toxic to humans, we're talking of the like of DDT, Round Up etc. It's all about population control. fyi: these are cold press seed oil, so they are a lot better than regular vegetable/seed oils you buy at the supermarket, which are highly processed with high heat & chemical, and should be avoided as much as possible. Cold press is also the method use to extract extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, palm oil. Therefore, always look for organic or cold press on the label to avoid highly processed oils. Saturated fats are good and are also way better than highly processed oils. Don't let the "heart healthy" label on corn oil, rapeseed oil fools you.

      the seedcakes are then treated once more with steam, pressed out one more time. Then the rest gets -treated- once more with triperethylen ( hope I got the spelling right, they use the stuff in dry cleaners. we have a chemical factory near my village, most all males are working there. and one of them told me, incidentally a relative of mine, I am a Chef, where to all the chemicals are going. one is the biggest oil mill around.and for sure they are not using it to wash the uniforms of the employees).And ony THEN are the seedcakes used for animal feeds. they are supposed to clean them from all the chemical residue, but for that they need another cheical. nice gunk -we- feed our animals.

    No, I said POLYunsaturated fats become rancid very quickly, especially when exposed to heat and light. Seed oils are exposed to both during processing, during the many months in storage in a hot warehouse, and while under the 24/7 glaring light on store shelves. Sorry, but common polymers (plastic bottles) are oxygen permeable.
    Also, trans-fats are an entirely different creature than saturated fats like coconut oil, lard, or butter. Everyone can agree on the dangers of trans-fats by now.

    while that may or may not be true, olive oil is higher in saturated fat than vegetable and canola oil, most oils are cool or cold pressed anyway, depending on the type of oil you get and the quality. As an all around cooking oil, vegetable or canola is best. Higher quality oils are most typically packed in dark glass to prevent UV light from spoiling the oil, and you actually can taste rancid oil.

    QUESTION TIME
    I looked this vid up after seeing this tweet on twitter:
    "Fried ≠ unhealthy.
    Fried in vegetable oils = unhealthy.
    If you want to fry food, use tallow, palm oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, or from any mostly real food, high in saturated fat.
    (Beware of eating out. I know of only ~4 restaurants in the USA that fry in healthy fats.)"
    Now, questions:
    1) Tweet author said vegetable oils are unhealthy, use oil from real food..but here examples of vege oil are sunflower seeds, soybean, corn and so on which basically are....food. what's the difference they make as compared to the 'healthier' palm oil, coconut oil, avocado oil he suggested? The difference in sat fats? So basically they're ALL vegetable oils, just the unhealthy ones are the ones low in sat fats? So opt for the ones with high sat fats?
    NOTE: SAVE the discussion about pros and cons of palm oil later. Focus on the actual question here.
    2) what makes some vegetable oil bad and some good?? When they all come from growing plants/fruits which have been promoted to have health benefits when eaten as it is??
    E.g. sunflower oil = vege oil. Sunflower seed = sunflower oil. Vege oil = bad. Sunflower seed = has health benefits. Hello?? Can someone explain???

      You know how the video talks about how the oils easily spoil from heat and light? Similar processes can happen in your body causing cell damage and oxidation. This can cause inflammation and a variety of other health problems. Read Ray Peat for more info. I don't think sunflower seeds are particularly healthy, but eating them every once in a while isn't a problem. Sustained use of seed oils is a problem imo

      It's the linoleic acid, a high omage 6 fat, which causes inflammation in the body. Your body need some omega6 and to be balanced with omega 3, but in the modern days all of our good have omega6 and we often get too much. Furthermore it is a polyunsaturated fat, which have multiple double bonds in the molecule, this mean it is easier to damage (become rancid) than fat with single bond molecule (saturated) and monounsarated which have only one double bond. The rancidity causes oxidation and creating reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body, this leads to various health complications. This high inflammation and oxidation in the body contribute to various chronic illness and cancer.
      However, the other end of the spectrum is also tunnel vision, where they tell you to eat meat only, no plant, and only consume saturated fat. Basically putting your body into a permanent ketosis state. The human body isn't designed to be in a permanent ketosis state and consuming large quantity of saturated fat. Some people depending on their genetic make up cannot metabolize saturated fat as well and it can be damaging to their metabolic health.
      I am a fan of monounsaturated fat myself (olive oil). Avocado oil is actually inferior to EVOO because studies show it oxidize faster, since it lacks the antioxidant compounds that exist in olive. The smoke point do not tell how well an oil resist oxidation, smoke point is a deceiving metric.

    • @DaveSmith-cp5kj
      @DaveSmith-cp5kj 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Which is hilarious too because coconut oil is really bad for you and dramatically increases the risk of heart disease. It's really only good if you burn energy fast like if you are an athlete or are infantry in the military or something like that. And then you are much better off eating something like pasta and rice instead.

    To make 1 litter of sunflower oil, how many kg of sunflower seeds do you need?

  • @tabasdezh
    @tabasdezh 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Sunflower seeds £8 per kilo
    sunflower oil £1.30 per bottle
    100 kgs of sunflower seeds produces 30 litre of oil.
    are you sure this's how they make sunflower oil?

    I am wondering whether it would be possible to create a closed "cycle" with current technology, e.g. grow seeds with an HPS lamp, make vegetable oil, turn it into biofuel and then power the HPS lamp and have an excess of energy.

    They seriously couldn't automate that very last part? That guy's arm must get very tired.

    • @ILIK3HATERZ
      @ILIK3HATERZ 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Nothaut They could, it's probably a small company so they don't need to automate everything since , their only making small batches. Now if this were Crisco's Vegetable oil the caping process would be automated as they produce higher amounts of product. Small company's want quality over quantity. Meaning they would rather have a better product than having a cheap product thats mass produced.
