Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
Great video dude! Thanks for always being so transparent about stuff. It gives other folks with vb's more insight to how much we can push and how we can prevent things learning form your mistakes no offense or anything. That TypeS is super sweet I think I like it over the TypeR. (also just wanted to post for the algorithm) Keep posting bro!
Thank you so much. I'm glad that some people realize that it's more about testing and pushing the car. I plan to continue to push it and I'm starting to see the results. If I can do this then the overwhelming majority of people are going to be just fine! 🤘
@ i haven’t raced my WRX but while cruising (in gear) I can literally stomp my throttle to the floor and release immediately and the car does not react. I thought this was something that can be tuned out but idk, my car is stock.
In the first few seconds at 3:23 , you two were neck and neck, and you even started pulling ahead a bit. Then the clutch started slipping, and every run after that had the same issue. If the transmission had been working properly, I think it would have been a much closer race than you’re giving yourself credit for. Not saying you’d 100% win, but it could’ve been really close! But yeah, sucks about the transmission :/
Yea I think so as well, it would have been much closer if my clutch wasnt doodoo. It's ok about the transmission. I do these to push the car. I have a strong support system so I'll get it swapped, plus learn in the process. I do this so the community can see that they will be ok if they only do like 1/10th of the crazy shit I do lol
I get the delay too sometimes but not like clutch slipping RPM doesn’t shoot up without accel. It’s like it takes a second when you go heavy/WOT in 2nd for me then jolts into the pull weird for sure If you think it’s clutch do 5/6th gear 2500-3k rpm and floor it, if your rpm bounces up without accel it’s slipping fs
Better clutch, stage 3 or so. And race will be different. First race you was catching up and passing him until you missed gears. You also could have powershift and you would win. But who knows until its done?
Like to see a rematch after you get the old clutch fixed. Still a fun watch, was rooting for ya, you can definitely see that is stuttering in 3rd gear!
That's one of the things about the Type R I didn't quite understand...they're putting down so much power and with minimal or no typical FWD power issues. Apparently it has something to do with a totally new suspension system which is highly capable of actually getting the power down to the ground. Still though, AWD is king.
Awesome video, sad to hear you're having some clutch issues...but that just opens the door to improvements 😄 Maybe we'll have to go for a roll once my build is complete and broken in!!
Thanks man! Yea once my car is all sorted out id love to take on more local people. I did a lot last year and this was my one and so far probably only race for the year 😂
@@HeavyMetalWRX sounds like you've done a lot of launches. I've been very apprehensive about launching the STi. Would be interested in hearing your take on how to launch...
Integra type S and Civic Type R are 2 cars I would’ve been interested in if I had the money at the time and also Corolla GR but for the money I went with the VB because I love the tuning potential and I never race. Just want a fun daily that puts a smile on my face
Yea dude especially 2 years ago when you got VBs for 29k. WAY more value. Yea the other cars give you a bit more but you have to pay way more. The price for performance is unbeatable, even as the WRX price goes up.
@ 100% with a few couple thousand we already are making almost more than their stock power but still not paying as much. Those cars tuned and FBO are paying about $50k. Us tuned and FBO are about 37-40k tops
He put something in your tank before the run!! 🤣 The Integra's are super nice. Always have been. And Honda being fast tuners is just legendary. Mr Oais, you ever think of adding a rooftop tent to your ride? ✌
Haha he put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby! I actually have been wanting to do the roof top tent and over landing before the season is over and I have to start rebuilding. It's a video I will for sure do probably in January.
Impressive the FWD can out that power down so well in the cold. You have major lag between gears for sure as you mentioned. It would have been closer by a few car lengths without that lag. Is his car Auto?
It's manual, but there's definitely something going on with my car. It's the first time it's done that. Even if everything was perfect he would have still whooped me, just not as bad lol
I really like the new Type S, but that price tag is a real stickler. I imagine you can probably add around $6-7k for the Full Race and Hondata stuff (good choices!)
I seen a cheaper turbo for our cars, $1700 cad for a bolt on turbo the same size as the blouch and others. That would be a lot closer of a race then……and maybe a Sti trans lol
Well it wasn't from a dig so it's ok. I don't mind testing like this. Sometimes I win sometimes I lose, but what's interesting and noteworthy is the delta. This was gonna be tough but then my car started doing things so it became complicated. I still wanted to show this off because a lot of people know what my car has been through.
I think you should put your car on a dyno and add a few parts and make another video of you beating the type r. I see vbs running 10s. Change your clutch. He shouldn’t have walked away from you like that making similar hp numbers. Something is wrong.
There is nothing wrong. The Integra/Type Rs lose only like 3% at most due to drivetrain loss, have way better top end, and less rolling resistance. The WRX has always had the issue of an AWD too intelligent for that the car is capable of. Aside from a dig where it would beat a Honda. It suffers everywhere else. 20% loss of power die to full time AWD. The engine naturally has no top end so now you have drivetrain loss and rolling resistance. The Honda will always win at a roll in the long run. And it will always win on track. WRXs just aren’t good car. Nor are they reliable like a Honda.

I actually adore the hood stick as shocks require replacement at some point
In the case of honda they have another hole to open the hood even further.
Lovely feature
You’d still hear the exhaust if the clutch was slipping.. this seemed different. Like a delay on the throttle
