I'm an Aussie and I only discovered Fred earlier this year. It's men like Fred that make me proud of my English heritage. Men of this calibre are rare these days. Thank you so much for posting these, I feel I've paid my final respect now.
@@stestepney Cheers for the sub mate, I see you like your trains. I'm no big buff, but I was fortunate enough to be living in a town on the Indian Pacific line when the Flying Scotsman toured out here many years ago. It's certainly a sight to see. I was also lucky enough to travel England back in 2001-2, and took a ride on the steam train at Kidderminster while I was there. I love the history your country has. I look forward to having a look through your videos.
Thanks mate nice to hear you have seen Scotsman she is running at The ELR (Bury) on the 5-6-7-8 of this month i will be out there doing the video i only live about 10 mile away at (Bolton). Have watched some video's from Aussie Land (The Great Race) very interesting. Glad to hear you have watched some of my vids. I live a few miles away from Fred's house i called round about 3 times before he died he was a genuine bloke cheers Steve ..
I still whatch his documentaries on TH-cam .i grew up seeing fred on tv.wish there was more people like him around today its 2019 what would fred have made of this .country right now rest in peace great man
Brought a tear. So many people, just proves the respect and love most of us had for a wonderful man. Love him to bits personally. Fred puts a capital 'B' in British engineering. Only discovered this just now and watch all three straight off. The weather ran true, but Fred would have loved it am sure. "A reit decent bloke ?" Norraaaff ! R.I.P. Fred and THANKYOU.
R.I.P Fred you was a inspiration to many, i own all your DVDs, i sure have learnt a lot from you in the programmes, ill miss you lots Fred, can't believe 7 and half years have passed since you unfortunately passed away! At least jack & roger have Betsy still, the other engine was sold for some reason but its gone to someone still in the northwest, fred would of wanted a caring owner to have his engine when he passed and it happened. he would be sad that jack/roger never inherited it!
@lapistola28 I don't think they have anything to do with the business, as far as i know they live in the Isle of Man and i think the house (museum) is private concern..thanks Steve..
He particularly loved these old kettles. Guess that why and interest in the railway kettles too. But mostly these old pieces of engineering . Tribute to Bolton's treasure
As you probably guessed im not a local.my question may have seemed rather lame in my ignorance. So I hope all who view will not give me a hard time. Thanks steve for your very informed response. Still say R.I.P Fred.
Not too sure about the daughters, but jack and roger do seem to have engineering in their blood. Search elsewhere on youtube, to see them as grown men, still playing with these huge toys! I'm sure others could correct me, the youngest Roger, is now 22 years old?
Fred would have quietly chuckled at the havoc caused to the traffic as he dragged on his roll up,was it true his coffin was made from 5/8th boiler plate and had its own safety certificate reminds me of me own gramp can imagine them both chatting drinking pints and tea bye both.
Fred sadly the angles broke the pattern and there won't be another like you. You are Unique and I mean that in a loving way. It is a great shame I never got the chance to meet you, who knows you might have cured my fear of heights. I hope they nab the buggars the ransacked your workshop and desecrated Betsy and the steam tractor. I hope they end up being sentenced to a years community service at a steam preservation trust, chipping clinker off the inside of boilers. RIP Dr Fred Your the best medicine for broken boiler.
Pssst ... Its spelled " angels ". If you get this comment , go ahead and do the correction, and ill then delete my comment to you . You wrote a very nice comment . ps' I make the same mistake too sometimes Drop me a reply so i know to come back and delete
just realised the traction engine carrying Fred is the second 1 he bought for £2300 late 70s as seen in the series . good to see he completed it as well th-cam.com/video/YnH7cw0ql1I/w-d-xo.html 9.37
John Walsh according to who mate ? Is there some form of rules for funerals or is it just your opinion, people show respect in many different ways and I don't think anybody has the right to say what is right or wrong.
Craig Fulton I can give my opinion. I did not make a rule or pass a law. There is still some freedom of speech in the UK, is there not? Or has all free speech been banned now?
A truly self-made man of greatness! I will always remember him with respect.
If everyone adopted Fred's attitude and work ethic Britain would be great again.
Legend of a man a national treasure.i take my hat off to the man.r.i.p fred ur still a very much loved man by all ur fans ..
Fearless, inventive, entertaining, a really lovely bloke never be another like you, RIP Fred.

Thanks for watching and comment mate his first engine never made it to the church it broke down after the market cheers Steve ..
Jacks 26
Why are people clapping? It's not a fucking parade.
What are they applauding? It's a funeral, not a circus!
Why not applaud a great man cheers Steve ..
stestepney Indeed why not, when a man is alive. When he is dead, total silence is the supreme demonstration of respect.
John Walsh according to who mate ? Is there some form of rules for funerals or is it just your opinion, people show respect in many different ways and I don't think anybody has the right to say what is right or wrong.
