1) Great video. Love the drone perspective 2) 16k Z, wow! 3) Your annotations in the video are informative & make ur videos more interesting 4) Didn’t know those signal housings were called Darth Vader signals. Love it and glad I know that now. 5) The monster z-train was hauling ass through that approach diverging signal as if he was expecting a clear aspect ahead rather than an approach as the signal indicated.
They're called "Darth Vader" signals in a disrespectful manner by people who are upset that new signals are replacing the old, "classic" signals (which this location doesn't have anyways). That's not an official term, just slang, and pejorative slang at that.
Watching this in 4k is epic! I love where videography is these days. Drones being cheap enough that more people can afford them and produce high quality videos.
We used to highball our steam or diesel freights at 60 mph on the Nickel Plate, but it was 80-100 cars. Three miles is spectacular, and I love the speed. But it is easy to see how anything going wrong where there is close contact with towns and cities makes a major disaster. That said, I'm glad those boxes are on a train rather than on a truck on the interstate. It could be gridlock LA-Houston
I figure the beer was going to Biagi Bros. I’ve hauled a lot of beer for them as a sub hauler. Not to mention a lot of new empty cans for production. I used to bring different brands of imported beer from their warehouse in Tucson for distribution in the Los Angeles basin. The empty cans usually came from Goodyear AZ to their warehouses in Montebello and Van Nuys.
Those are not officially known as "Darth Vader" signals. That's a pejorative term that some people use for "new signals" that they hate to see replacing the old ones. They are vertically stacked LED colorlight signals with snowhoods.
Any train over 10k is complete BS! Anything to keep from hiring people! Even though a big train maybe cool to a train buff, try having to walk it to fix a problem especially in bad weather! Then it takes forever to either put the train together or break it down once at it's destination!
If bound for Houston, that was likely I-LBHO. Long Beach to Houston. I've seen that train as it pulls into Settegast yard in the NE part of town. Large intermodal but i do believe it also drops off cars at San Antonio.
@AbelG8781 Yea, i used to hear ILBHO all the time. Just recently started hearing ZLBHO, which is surprising with all the international traffic. But it is definitely a Z, heard them a few times on the radio. Thanks for watching there, Abel.
Todd Lamar Harvey TLH dispatching that day. He was our dispatcher sacremento to the bay area a few years back. Pretty cool to hear him doing his Thang lol
Great freight trains 🚆 video 📹 really great captures some of the art 🎨 or graffiti, depending on how look at it, helps make the carriages less drab, earth vadar signals very cool 😎 with the cover on 😂great drone footage, what's the time frame for new overhead signals being on line?
Unfortunately the front stretch Grandstand and media tower are about all that’s left of the speedway today. Unfortunately it’s going to meet the same fates as Ontario and Riverside Raceways. My wife and I went to the first night race there in September 2004. Also where a young Kyle Busch got his first Cup win for Hendrick MS in 2005 in the Sony HD 500.

Haha, thank you Jovet.
Glad you enjoyed the details! 😎 Thank you very much for that!
High speed dual control movable point frog turnouts are a thing of beauty.
Right, pretty cool!
Common here in Houston. High speed trains on the southwest part of the city is awesome!

One of the best things about trains! Fewer trucks on the road!!
Yea, it's pretty impressive. Thanks for watching
Great photography and excellent captioning
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked the captions!

Very interesting, thank you Cory!
UP always seems to be at the top for railroad row maintenance on their main lines, very good at concrete ties and high speed switches!
@JoeyLovesTrains Yea they really do!😎
Great location and action 👍🤟😎
Thanks for watching Bradley! 😎

Nice catch Rob i see you out there parked on the road that Z was rollin' got three SD70's in the mix an AH . a M and an ACE
Haha yup, it was cool. Thanks Caleb!
Great video - just love railroading in the Inland Empire. Would love to have you follow a train up the California Steel in Fontana.
@@toddmusser6537 Good idea! Thank you 😎👋

Calm down bro. Just get a Dairy at this point ☠️
Do you see loads of people lined up to get a job on the railroad? Why do you think they have such large signing bonuses? Get a brain.
Lmao you've fallen off your meds guy 😂
@@AbelG8781 🤣
Killer presentation. 👍😎🍿
Thank you, appreciate that!

The colton yard is also being torn up and new tracks are being laid out...
That's enough beer to last for a couple of day in the USA!!
Haha, thanks for watching!

Man those new tracks look nice.. they look like Swiss ones!
@@sgdeluxedoc haha right! Pretty cool 😎
I love those new signals, you can see them.
Me too, pretty cool!
240+cars 3 miles long. Precision scheduled railroading (PSR) . Two unit trains combined 1 crew of 2 , soon to be 1 if RR's get their way.
16,000 Ft equals 3.03 miles. Wow!
Haha, pretty cool!
5:52 *Signal cantilever
13:01 There's your signal _bridge._
Thanks Jovet!
Wasn’t there some construction going on at Ono or near San Bernardino on the BNSF side? Saw something but wasn’t sure it was railroad related
2:47 i have one of them in my shed 😊
Sounds like Todd Henry, Dispatcher Dawg, 250 is back from vacation and haming it up.
Big Dawg!
Excellent video👍
Thank you very much!
Great Coverage……is the 100 lead The Long Entrance into Colton Yard ?
Yes, I usually see trains shoving into the Crest Yard from the 100 lead so they don't tie up the mains. Thank you!
Nice footage!
Thank you!
I like to count the wagons myself and whilst you had some great observational drone shots I was up 200 and something and.........then 👋
Haha, me too!
Excellent video. Is the new main to accommodate growing intermodal volume?
Yes, I think that is part of the reason. UP is now running Intermodal Traffic in and out of West Colton
And Thank you!
What’s the new track for?
Just increasing capacity along the line, I would say.
Nice video. I like your channel name.
Thanks!
where ? thanks . southern ca?

Vandalism isn’t art
Thanks Trevor! Not sure on the timeline for the new signals. Some weeks crews are out working, other weeks nothings going on haha.
